  • Today we'll discuss all about genealogies, one of the hardest things when reading through the Bible in a year or on a Bible reading plan! It can be hard to understand the meaning of genealogies in the Bible and what you're supposed to "get" from them, so today we'll break that down!

    the “Bronze Snake” is something I wanna look into when I get to Genesis (still in Romans, will be there for awhile). Moses did transfer records in his writing, but being so nomadic, no mail system. Out in the middle of nowhere, the msg was coming from somewhere. And not the voices in his head 📻

    Faith, I found your channel two days ago and have been binging your videos since. Absolutely love your content! This video, along with all your other ones, just make me run to my Bible. Thanks for the great example you give of a mom of two toddlers who still makes time to do these studies. I’m a mom of three under three (just had my third two weeks ago), and with the newborn stage my Bible study time is normally what I miss most. Would love to hear how you make time to read as much as you do with your littles. Also, Mike Winger spoke about genealogy of Seth in one of his past videos where he showed that the meaning of the names was actually a sentence that pointed to Jesus. Will try to find it to share with you, bc I think you’d find it interesting. May God continue to bless you & your ministry.

    Faith, I love your videos. They are so encouraging, inspiring, and real! Thank you for that! I have two questions...1) What is a one-word definition for exegesis? , 2) I have a really hard time getting through the Grace Reading Plan (just recently purchased it) in a timely fashion. I get caught up on every detail of scripture. 🤪 My question is, How do I read the Bible in a timely way? I seem to have a hard time not diving deep every single time. 🤪

  • @MariasFaith
    @MariasFaith Год назад

    This is a good topic. I have to add this to my definition and dig deeper. Reading the Ancestors is a long read in itself 🤣 but longer and later while you spend time in the Bible, it makes sense, and Scriptures stories jump out at you. It takes patience, prayer, and obedience cause everything comes to Us from God. During his time, he knows when we are ready to question and understand these mysteries and how it can apply to our life and season. I Love your Teachings Faith. Thank you. I Appreciate you. ❤️

    This is so interesting. After watching this I was reading the first chapter of Matthew and used my commentary to look up information about the genealogy. It said this was used to show Jesus’s rightful and legitimate place as King.
    I also learned about Jeconiah and how if Jesus wasn’t born from a virgin, he would have been subjected to the “curse” on his family.
    I will never just skim over genealogies again! Thanks :)

    When you talk about the commercial break thing…I noticed that John does the same thing by interspersing Peter’s denials with the Jesus’s trials before all the officials. If you were watching it on TV it would be like the scene cutting away to what’s going on elsewhere but simultaneously, leaving the audience hanging. I thought that was super cool. And honestly, John could have been a Hollywood writer. That sneaky sneaky guy, not revealing who he was until the end of the book. That’s the ultimate twist ending.

    I do like The Pulpit Commentaries notes on Exodus 6:14. It helps get some perspective as to why a genealogy would be inserted so abruptly.
    THE PULPIT COMMENTARY
    At this point the narrative is interrupted The author, or the final compiler-perhaps Joshua-thought it desirable to insert here a genealogical section, taking up the fatuity history of Israel from the point at which it was left in Exo 1:5, where the sons of Jacob were enumerated. The whole political system of Israel was based upon the tribal relation; and it was of the last importance, politically, to hand down the divisions and subdivisions of families. The lists here given, probably prepared by Moses in a separate document, had to be inserted somewhere. The present seemed a fitting place. The narrative had reached a turning-point. All the preliminaries were over-the action of the Exodus itself was about to begin. A dramatist would have made Act 1 end and Act 2 commence. A poet would have begun a new canto. In the imperfect bibliography of the time, it was thought best to make a division by a parenthetic insertion.

    I'm currently studying Genesis, Cain, Abel and the geneaology of Cain. So this video is perfect. And very helpful.
    Yet, I totally struggle with Adam and Eve's bloodline and culture. So if you have Adam and Eve and all of mankind come from Adam and Eve how there be cultures? Where do other people come from. It's a mystery.

    Luke Chapter 13
    1There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
    2And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
    3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
    4Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
    5I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
    Philippians 4:8
    Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
    2 Peter 3:18
    But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

    And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
    John 14:6
    Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Ephesians 1:12
    That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
    Hebrews 2:3
    How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    James 5:20
    Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
    1 John 3:8
    He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
    Revelation 6:8
    And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

    You cannot comprehend the Bible before learning Koine Greek language. As you’ve already know, the Bible was written in this language. As a nontheist person, I myself recommend to you learn Koine Greek. Moreover, if you have enough time, it would be better to learn Hebrew either.

    1 Corinthians Chapter 15
    1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    John 8:32
    And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
    Revelation 2:17
    He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
    1 John 5:7
    For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
