    Something that really helped me with the genealogies especially in first and second chronicles was the idea that the names are actual real names of actual real people that lived. In the she reads truth Bible there was a devotional comparing the list of names to something like the veteran monuments that have the names of all of the soldiers that we lost. They're names of real people. They deserve to be read. I really liked that idea.

      To me, it is also a reminder that, in the end, history is essentially the story of a single family, from Adam and Eve to us.

    I’m going through the grace reading plan and I have to say reading Genesis and Acts at the same time is genius! I was confused at first because I’ve never seen a reading plan do that before, but once I started really getting into it I can compare and contrast the beginning of God’s plan to save to save us with the aftermath of Jesus’s resurrection. It’s fascinating and I love it so far!!

      Yay! I am so glad! That was the hope and prayer- there are beautiful commonalities. Like, how the early church's missionary journeys are a fulfillment of God's covenant promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 to be a blessing to the nations- it's just powerful for me to study, so I am glad you're enjoying it!

    Agree 💯 with reading in context and in alignment with the original author message to their original audience. It is dangerous when we sit in a bible study and read a verse or two and then ask, “What does that mean to you?” It isn’t what it means to me, it is what God means. Once we come to that we can find that heart application. We teach our children at church to ask three questions when they read the Bible 1. What does this teach about God? 2. What does this teach about man? 3. How did Jesus fix or fulfill it? Simple questions but usable even by us as adults.
    However, I use caution when googling sermons. There ARE a lot of crazies online and people out there preaching things that are not in line with God’s word. I would suggest researching the person you are listening to and make sure they are reputable and solid in their theology.
    These are great videos!

    I think it is so sad that people believe human beings are broken, dirty, full of sin. As a child of god, each person is whole, complex, with many options and choices on how to live. There is right and wrong, there is good and evil. There is is huge corruption in the last few hundred years of the Bible and the idea of humans, especially women, as filth.

  • @htebazileeilsel2293

    "You gotta study with others in a group and listen to preachers and theologians to understand the Bible"- thats not true AT ALL, where does the Bible ever say that? You need to be led by the Spirit in order to understand the Scriptures as Jesus said. You can easily be led astray by reading in a group of non Spirit filled people or people who lack understanding and God can teach you the Truth of the Word by reading and studying alone. Jesus said "what I tell you in the dark, declare on the rooftops."
    Dont underplay the work of the Holy Spirit in the understanding of Scripture. So many theologians and scholars and pastors are wrong. The Bible is a spiritual book you cany treat it like mere literature nor interpret it using the wisdom of this world. You shouldnt just go to preachers or google for answers, first ask GOD to reveal what it means and He will. Theres more bad preachers and sermons than good these days.
    Being preachers wife or a seminary student are not qualifications for anything, are you filled with the Holy Spirit is the question.
    Also not everything points to the cross,many things in the OT ARE pointing to the second coming and the judgement in the form of typology..thats REALLY important to consider

    • @HowtoFaithALife
      @HowtoFaithALife  2 года назад +6

      I'd encourage you to consider the idea of the "fellowship of the faith"- the church family, the 12 disciples and the early church. I've talked a lot before about heresy in other videos and how more-often-than-not that it's bred from not being held accountable to the statements of faith that the church has stood by since the beginning. I am not saying you can't read your Bible on your own, but if you're ONLY doing that, you can easily get wacko in your theology, because the whole accountability idea.
      If you watch some of my other videos, you'll hear about my testimony growing up in a situation that was shaped by a father who refused to go to church and be held accountable to Biblical teaching, but wanted to skew the scriptures to mean what he wanted them to mean, when he wanted them to mean it. So much heresy and religious abuse. He would say something very similar to what you've said about the Spirit leading, which is (of course) nothing wrong with that! I am BIG about the Spirit leading me in my studies, but the Spirit leads me in very practical ways to studying and digging more and more through using the resources of others. I encourage you, before you write me off completely, check out my video on Monday. I filmed a very normal Bible study time with the Lord, and you'll see how the Spirit urged me to check out certain questions, then led me to certain resources, etc. It is VERY MUCH a Spirit thing to listen to others because it isn't OF ME to want to surrender my pride and ask a middle aged man from 40 years ago his advice on the subject. It's not OF ME to want to study the scriptures at all! But, it's the Spirit leading me in my studies! The Holy Spirit leading in my uses of resources and of course, through all of that, teaching me discernment on whether I am reading a Biblical take on the scriptures or something that is faulty or heretical. Never diminish the Spirit's work to simply, "I feel like this means... "- He is much more powerful than that!

    • @htebazileeilsel2293
      @htebazileeilsel2293 2 года назад +2

      @@HowtoFaithALife @How to Faith A Life The problem I am having is that the other believers around me have very little insight or wisdom, I even have more understanding than the pastor of the church I go to..so how can they hold me accountable for anything if they don't even know Scripture well? Any time we read in a group settings its little snippets and we arent getting to the meat, its all "what resonated with you?" As a matter of fact any time I went into deeper meaning or context I got told "dont stray from the discussion"
      Heres a little bit about my journey- I had been praying fervently for years that God would help me know the Word like the back of my hand and fill me with passion and give me wisdom and in 2019 the Spirit urged me to read the whole Bible(cause I never did) and I was soooo hungry and couldnt get enough,I was reading every single day and have been and asking "what does this mean?" I have become very skilled in the Word of Truth by just reading it from the intention *to understand*. I used some resources(like Bible projects overviews, which were helpful) to give me the big picture.(unfortunately, the more I grew I began noticing a lot of significant errors, thats another conversation) I began learning history and looking deeper into what greek/hebrew words meant and got little bits and pieces from sermons and commentaries but was usually dissatisfied by the answers given, the more I grew in understanding the more I saw soo many preachers and teachers and commentaries are just wrong about so many things..which is why I say a seminary degree means nothing. There is more false than true these days.
      Scripture interprets Scripture which is one of the ways you test the interpretation, the Bible is like a 3 dimensional puzzle. If your interpretation contradicts another part of Scripture its obviously not true. If you understand these things it doesnt matter if you read alone or in a group.
      Im sorry your dad abused you in that way but thats why Jesus said "you will know them by their fruits"(which includes sound doctrine and manner of life you live)but it is the Spirit who guides us into all the truth and reveals things to us-He does also do that through other true believers as each one has been given a gift by His grace to build up the Church so we come to the unity of the faith, but it still comes by His Spirit.Paul tells us that the natural man cannot even understand the things of God.
