- Today we are talking all about my prayer journals! We talk about how to start a prayer journal, how to make a DIY prayer journal, prayer journaling for beginners and just general prayer journal ideas. So if you are excited about this prayer journaling video, give it a thumbs up!

If you have ever tried prayer journaling before, you'll know there's no set way on how to make a prayer journal or how to start a prayer journal. & that's my first piece of advice on prayer journaling for beginners. If you have watched other prayer journal flip through videos, you'll know that no two prayer journals are the same. I hope in this video, you'll know that what I share when I talk about how to start a prayer journal & when I share prayer journaling ideas for beginners, that it's not THE ONLY WAY to prayer journal, but that I am just sharing prayer journal ideas.
Another thing to note is that in this prayer journal flip through I share some readings from past prayer journals and some things I am doing in my prayer journal right now, but that doesn't mean that my prayer journal is perfect or like holy or anything. I share all this DIY prayer journal stuff to share prayer journal ideas. To inspire you if you're wondering how to start a prayer journal.
If you're trying to learn how to prayer journal or how to start a prayer journal, then this is the video for you. I share lots of prayer journal ideas, how to prayer journal in general, how to prayer journal, etc. You can even watch me prayer journal for prayer journal ideas! But basically, this video is supposed to provide inspiration for you to start your prayer binder or war binder TODAY, just go talk to Jesus! There's no rules on how to pray- just pray! If you're looking up how to prayer journal for beginners- here is your answer: just start writing out your prayers! There's really not much more to prayer journaling!
Ultimately, I think the key to prayer journaling and how to make or how to start a prayer journal, is just starting. Just writing. It won't be perfect, it shouldn't be perfect, just write. Just pray. And there's no real system or set of rules on how to pray, you just PRAY!

I loved the 'Leave it at the cross' envelope idea. I made one myself and put it in my prayer folder. I wrote a prayer on the actual envlope for God to do His will for what was in it. Anyway I just thought it was a really wonderful idea!

I have been a saved Christian for a long time now but you have no idea how much I needed to hear everything you said about not worrying about “doing it wrong” and messing it up. I have recently started a read through the Bible plan and I have missed days worrying about this so thank you so much!! I am now going to spend time with God and read the Bible without worrying about messing it up.
I strugged with that, too. So what I did was divide my reading time to twice a day. Mornings I would start in the Old Testament in two places. Evening I would start in a gospel and then Paul's letters and read thru. If I miss a day, I don't have the date from a plan glaring me in the face and just do my best. On bad days it doesn't get done. On good days I accomplish twice as much, so it evens out. I don't get real specific in my prayer journal though. My husband has gotten into my journals and called me on the carpet for stuff that wasn't his business. God bless.

How to Faith A Life, Back when I was about 15-16 years old....I had the biggest crush on this guy in my class...His name is Scott. Anyhow, I forgot to put my journal away and my niece was over for the night...at 5 years old, she's learning how to read and comes out of my room....going up to my mom (her Grandma)...she says to her,
"Hey Grandma, Who's Scott Mc Neely? Because Aunt Becky is praying to have him as a boyfriend."

I have a prayer journal that's organized and broken up into things God's teaching me/answered prayer/prayer requests/things to be thankful for, etc. But if I just need to get something out with God and I know I'll never reread it, then I just scribble out my thoughts as fast and messy as possible, usually while I'm not even wearing my glasses, and I really can't see ANYTHING without them 😅

I've never prayer journalled so this is helpful. When you were saying about Satan distracting us by wanting it to be perfect etc. I thought I keep getting that about praying so it was a lightbulb moment. I had been using my Celtic daily prayer book and some other prayers each evening. Today I felt tired from cleaning all day because I'm unwell. I just didn't feel like following the formulaic prayers. So I thought that I can't pray then because I wouldn't be doing it right. I have OCD too so I'm a perfectionist. I didn't realise that things like that could be Satan disuading me. Luckily I lighted some candles and just went for it!
IDEA: [I like your 'leave it at the cross' envelope....] On an entry where I have a question, or a concern or a need ....big deals to me....and it is written down in my journal. Then--or later-- Father gives me a word/Scripture dealing with that.....I take a piece of paper/3x5 card and write that input and then tape it OVER the request for the need/concern/question. There may be more coming or the prayer/promise hasn't come to pass but I surely found a way to 'leave it at the cross'!!!
Thank you for what you said at the beginning..it hits me so hard. I've been wanting to scripture write and prayer journal for months BUT I have to get the right "things"..supplies, pens, journals, etc. It is driving me crazy. Deep down I know all I need is a pen and piece of paper yet I strive so hard inside because it has to be perfect. I can't say I understand why I do this but thank you for putting that i your video. Yes! Exactly! You also could always technically make any bible an interleaved bible by taping in blank pages!

I’m quite fascinated by your videos. During your Bible studies have you considered God’s call for women to not wear makeup and jewellery? And, what about head coverings? Where do you stand with these things?
I just started journaling in general. I have wanted to prayer journal but how? I have one journal I write about sermons I listen to. I write what verses was talked about and points that spoke to my heart. Your video just made me realize I was already prayer journaling.

I had been through such a terrible spiritual war for the last couple of months.. I was like a fish out of water. That being said... I have been trying to get back on track with Jesus - well myself really - and watching a couple of videos you have encouraged me to continue in my personal quest to finish my Christian Journals AND my walk with Jesus. Regarding your leave it at the cross envelope...
I'd be interested to hear your perspective on how to discern when we should leave it at the cross and when persistence or perseverance should be placed above letting it go. In scripture (hopefully you will place this because I don't know where it's at) there is a story, maybe a parable, of the lady who sought justice and persisted with the judge or magistrate to hear her cause. I believe SOMETIMES it's ok to be steadfast and continue in persistent prayer.. like when David pleaded for the life of his first son with Bathsheba.. Ultimately his petition wasn't granted but nowhere does it say he shouldn't have persisted..
You can make a junk journal with things you have, out of boxes (seapanda channel show it very well)or you can buy a small binder and decorated (jaren t show it very well)
I'm so glad I found this video. My new years resolution was to deepen my prayer with a prayer journal but I had no idea where to start. I have been watching so many videos and getting so overwhelmed and you reminded me JUST START. I do have a couple questions for you though, do you ever empty out the envelope in the back? Do you use this journal as like a preplanning page for your actual prayers or do you pray as you write?

Loved Loved Loved the realness in your video. Been watching RUclips videos on journaling and found all the artsy stuff so intimidating for I am soo not artsy. And YES, was letting it distract me from what I really need to focus on. This happens to me from time to time and I allowed all these artsy people, (not that there is anything wrong with making artsy journals, they are so fun to watch!) But I am so not artsy nor do I have the time to do so. Your video inspired me to just focus on His word and if I have a day I can get artsy, then enjoy the time! But it is okay NOT to be artsy too!! I actually don't say them out loud! I just write them, then read over them! But, do whatever works for you!

Thank you for this video. I am going to start really journaling this year 2021. My first 'diary' was from my sister when we were in high school in the 1960's. After graduation I re reread it and it was mostly about the guy I had a crush on. I burned it and didnt journal again until 2017. I have tried and tried but always felt it wasn't good enough.I don't want anyone else to read it. I am praying about those feelings and need to remember my journal is for me and my best friend God,and and if anyone else reads it maybe it will help them to know me more.
Yes! Just treat it like prayers that are recorded down, saved, for Gods glory!
If you remember in the middle of your prayer journal that you have to do something or to ask God for forgiveness jot it down dont do it in your mind because you can go back and look to that ❤

You are far further on your walk with the Lord than I am, and I suspect I've got two decades on you. No one guided me through this stuff at any point, and I'm loving all the guidance on praying and studying that I've needed for a long time.

I completely adore every word in this video, you have knowledge about the Bible..I have always wanted to start a prayer journal..you just gave me valuable info..I have a journal..and yes, Faith it is NOT about how pretty it is, it’s your conversation with God. Sitting writing this comment, I will be going home in a week or so Hudson Valley, NY, I have to close some doors, and move on..I am a mature lady, probably almost old enough to be your Grandmother..but something’s are still on the surface of being hurt..so when I go home, I will leave happy foot prints where I have closed doors for my complete happiness…🙏🙏🌞🌞🤗🤗💕💕

I started journaling in 2021, which was the year my dad’s health declined. He passed away in December of 2021 from kidney/liver failure. I continued to journal to help me through my grief and still do it to this day. I never thought about making my journal into a prayer journal. I always assumed I needed to keep it separate. I love the all-in-one idea, thank you for sharing!

Yes there’s no right or wrong way to journal! My good friend bought me a prayer journal this week and it’s one thats got questions in it and it’s so pretty and I’m so excited to incorporate it into my time with God. I also have a blank journal that I use too. Ah I feel the same about the someone finding it! Even though I keep it in my home. I’m not vague but not as detailed as I could be 🤗

I love composition notebooks. Without knowing it I may have been prayer journaling in my Morning Gripe journal. I don’t know about anyone else but griping is an expression of fear and anxiety. I have plenty of both. I’m facing uncertainties regarding health issues. Like how can you pray for healing not knowing if God will help in that way? I have never had prostate problems until recently. At 63, what can you expect, right? There are so many things that I want to do and this is in the forefront of almost every thought. Tomorrow is my lithotripsy procedure. 🥺
I’m bummed out.
I'm thinking about doing a prayer journal but 2 things worry me. Will I be overwhelmed, thinking I have to follow a long script and get bogged down in a long list I check off? If I get overwhelmed I won't do it and then feel guilty. Or will I use it to procrastinate actually dialoguing with God?... "I have to write this down, I need to decorate the page, where did I put those stickers, I need to organize my supplies, oops my time is gone, sorry God". I don't want to get distracted.
I ‘ve been doing prayer journaling for a couple of years and it’s just that, I just write what comes in my mind and share with God. Like you said, I have had moments where I was afraid of being totally clear cause I was afraid someone might read it, but now I scribble everything. It’s helpful when you look back and it’s freeing knowing you offloaded everything.
Just found your videos today and I love them! I have watched many prayer journal videos and this one has helped me the most. Before I even finished it, I sent a text to one of my daughters about it so she could watch it too. I have subscribed and I will definitely be watching more!

Does that make sense?have you a title for that one? have you mentioned it in another video? It's crazy how times have changed. The Dollar tree here is now charging $1.25 for each item lol. I need to pray about inflation. I also pray for those people that I see at my local Dollar Tree who are actually finding the extra $.25 cents per item to be a struggle for them. It makes me realized just how blessed I am.

I have been watching so many of your videos, and commented on one before this. You replied and I thought it was so sweet! But anywho, I am so thankful to have come across this video. I saw a newer one from this year and was wanting to ask for an explanation of what a prayer journal is. I think this video, along with a few others, has helped me paint a better picture. I have tried to create a journey with Jesus and God a few other times, but have always struggled with prayer. It feels awkward and weird, but I try and try each time. I’m going to let the idea of a prayer journal sit on my heart for awhile and decide if that’s something I want to do. I love Jesus and believe in him, I just want to feel him and be a better person for him. Having you and your videos has already made such an impact on me, I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us!
I have only just found your channel and this video. Thank you for this. I struggle with this topic because I feel like if I don’t write a lot or make it pretty and artsy then it’s not good enough or worthy enough. This has helped me realize it’s ok if sometimes I struggle to get my thoughts on paper, because He still knows my heart and thoughts. And it’s more about spending the time.
