"Having spent countless hours staring at these things..." That made me picture Johnathan, sitting alone in a dimly lit room, just staring, motionless, at an EM-2.
For the slow slides, I think I remember the lead dev Anton mentioning that he wanted the guns in the game to be a bit slower than their real life counterparts on purpose to sort of show the mechanical beauty of the actions, but it's been a while and I could be wrong
What blows my mind is that there's a lot of guns in H3VR where it's actually the first and only official media appearance of any kind for those guns. Like with the French Union, for example.
H3VR is the most underrated sim there is. It's the most accurate firearms sim, and the most detailed. Anton and his team over at Rust LTD are true passionate masters in the VR space. Light years above any game dev in the industry imo. Name one game studio that puts out brand new content, for free, every week to every month for the last 7 years.
Pretty sure the H3VR EM2 is the same as the fallout 4 mod because they're made by the same 3D artist. Also big fan of the horseshoe magazine pistol in a game called hot dogs horseshoes and hand grenades.
One of the H3VR joke guns is also an oversized S&W M500 in .50 BMG, which also got its FO4 mod adaptation, published I think by the same EM-2 mod author
The horseshoe-shaped mag did not get past the dev. He mentioned in the devlog for the gun's addition that he had to have it for that reason. It's also called the Union pistol from France which I find easy to remember because of the U-shaped mag.
It's probably been said by others before, but I really enjoy the bits in these newer episodes where Jonathan and Dave talk about the gun or game a bit. I've rewatched a handful of older ones recently and what stood out to me is how much that little bit of interaction between the two elevates the whole thing.

@@nb9121 Checks out, cause he's mentioned he plays World of Guns which certainly isn't as demanding as lot of the other titles. Its the only 'modern' game I recall him ever saying he's played outside 2010 console titles.
One of my favorite things about H3VR is the absolutely mind-boggling variety of firearms that Anton takes the time to simulate in interesting ways. I think some of my favorites are the obscure antique guns we got last year during the holiday season, like the Stevens Model 124C shotgun or Savage 99 rifle. They're just so much fun to operate and fire because the manual of arms is so much more unique than the modern "press mag release, insert fresh magazine, operate bolt if chamber empty" rigamarole.
That Lewis assault phase rifle is activating my neurons in a way only a beautiful gun can, but if it had the same pistolgrip and buttstock as the Lewis gun... I don't think I have enough neurons for that.
12:30 *STEEL HAZE INTENSIFIES* Would be cool to see fergison review large scale mech weapons (Armored core, mechwarrior, Gundam, etc) and tell us if they are practical or not...
Gotta get Johnathan in one of these PCVR headsets, let him see for himself how well simulated these weapons are first hand and feel the scale of weapons as he have felt IRL.
The Lewis Assault Rifle with the perforated heat shield does apparently exist, there are a couple of photographs of it that appear on the Internet and in a couple of books.
It's kinda hard to get a good look at them though, especially for their firing action (which is a shame because the moving parts on those guns are gorgeous) Idk, maybe once the coop mod comes out they can record it that way. It'd be cool to see them comment on it
Pushing as always for you guys to have Jonathan cover Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and to cover the M8 and MRI Caseless specifically as well. I have been posting for you to do this in every video a year back now.

Yes! I absolutely love seeing H3 every time you guys cover it, I feel like you could easily make an entire series just about the guns of this game! I'm still holding out hope that you'll do the Killzone series of games some day too. Really interesting weapon designs and I think Johnathan would enjoy.
So, while he was talking about the EM-2, I randomly decided to pause the video and check if Fallout London is released yet (I had actually forgotten that this weapon is in that, it was brought on by another thought). Just as I tab back into the video, he mentions Fallout London. Strange coincidence, that.

The other Rust guys, I think there are five in total do contribute too but nowhere near what Anton does.
@@n_tas Anton also does some of his own modelling work. The TF2 models that Valve gave him were made for flat screen and were basically unusable for VR, and he ended up doing a lot of work to have the models look good for VR. I also remember him talking about how occasionally he'll find missing parts for gun models that he bought, so he has to take the time modelling those areas and fixing the gun, or needing to cut the model up in order to have the moving parts he wants. He's extremely talented, as are the people who help him.
