Hellmo the Damned arnis is almost dead in the Philippines. There are many styles that died down because the old practitioners have already died and they have no successors. Truly sad! There are many good styles that were lost forever.

I hope fhe government will put arnis in the PE subject in all of our schools in the philippines...We must master it bcoz its really ours filipino marcial arts...
Been practising for a few years now and most strikes feel right. Over the last few months however, I must have practised 50k reps of the abanico and it still feels wrong. Just a tad frustrating

How would this translate to a sword/machete? Would you slap with the blade? I’ve only learned the basic strikes of Arnis and I’m curious.
You could.. would I do it? Probably not. Most likely I would opt to use the Abanico motion as a fanning parry to create an angle to slash with

I’ve watched a lot of Martial Artist attacking with a stick ; but no one explains the technique and why you slap your arm when striking?
