It’s still a mystery to me why this isn’t more popular.
This is literally the best iteration of a franchise I have ever seen, for not just TMNT. It has everything you want out of a remake/reboot IMO.
This was more popular up to about 4 years ago.
If I had to guess it's because it gets so wild and crazy folks don't know what to think about it, but I have a feeling that will change because IDW is spending big bucks on more advertising and visibility.
It is criminal people don't talk about this series more. I'm mad I didn't up until recently
You motivated me to actually start reading the series. I've had the first volume for months now. Plus I've bought most of the Loyal Subjects IDW TMNT action figures just because of their designs.
Trust me. You're gonna love it. This comic has a lot of good arcs for all the turtles and even the "joke characters" like Bebop and Rocksteady get a lot of love.
It's an all time great run for sure and Sophie Campbell's work in the latest arcs is perfection.
Couldn't agree more! I've become a big fan of her at and storytelling since I've gotten further along in the series. I'm legit sad her run is ending but I'm excited to see what she does next

There's a lot to love. It's quickly become my favorite version of the TMNT
I love how much this series is willing to change the status quo more so than its previous versions. Like the moment I learned about how it introduces an entire city full of mutants that is known by the public (pluss a ghostbusters crossover) I knew I had to read it
That was a development I never expected. And the Ghostbusters crossover is WILD. And it's canon! Like... I never imagined those two properties lining up. Ever.
TMNT makes me always nostalgic. Since my little sister was a real fan of the cartoon series, we watched this often together. When got into comics, I bought her the Mirage comics. Somehow she was kinda traumatized by them XD. Shortly after, she got into Gargoyles...
Funny thing. Gargoyles comics are back and SO good too 🤣🤣🤣 All the old shit is coming back around. GI Joe, Transformers, I just hope Thundercats is legit when it drops.
Please do more ninja turtles man I'm from 1985 and the ninja turtles are part of my life's blood. It's been an incredible journey to see them evolve through time all the time all the time all the different variations and cartoons from them just being turtles to learning magic it's just grown so much it's great to see that something that we've all grown up with It's still alive
I feel the same. I think that's what made me an instant fan of this series. It was "my Turtles" but at the same time it was taking chances and trying new things. Bringing back old stuff but with a new twist. I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to dive in. I plan on doing a lot more for the Turtles.

Got into IDW TMNT a few years back. Love it. I especially love The Last Ronin; after having read a ton of volumes of the IDW run, that story hits hard.
It was definitely a shock to the system. I was skeptical of the whole run at first but as soon as I read issue 1 I looked up and was on 30 🤣🤣🤣
This entire series is excellent. Great starting point for anyone interested in the Turtles
I agree. I feel like unless you just hate TMNT there's no way you walk away from this comic feeling you weren't entertained on some level
Been into tmnt ever since Laird and Eastman and man the idw run has come the closest to that.

Just started this series last year. I greatly enjoy it. They actually blend the sci-fi and fantasy elements of the franchise together very well, while other versions usually kept them separate.
This one leans into it very well. I was worried when the Neutrino and Dimension X stuff started seeping in. But they handled it perfectly.

You can just dive right in on IDW. It's cool to get the references and changes, but honestly this series stands firmly on its own.

That's probably the closest overall. But as you read through you'll see references and callbacks to just about everything. Even Venus de Milo from Next Mutation
This series started out really good, but has floundered pretty hard, unfortunately.
I was hoping the next writer might get me back in, but I have yet to enjoy a Jason Aaron comic.
My favorite TMNT adaptations are the first movie and the 2003 cartoon.

Hey I don't know if you've gotten to it yet, but I curious about how you feel about Sophia Campbell's run after the original duo get off the book? I heard a lot of negative things about it, but I question if those are legitimate criticisms or just ass hats whining for it woman writing in franchise primarily targeted at men and just wants less bais general opinion on it.
Personally I like the Sophie Campbell run a LOT. She's done some really good stuff with this series now that I'm more caught up. I think people are just being ass hats like you said. Like "OMG it's a trans woman so it automatically sucks" type of bullshit. She's doing good work. I imagine if it sucked or wasn't doing well she wouldn't have made it this far. But that would ruin the chuds' narrative.
No offense but it seems like his only references are to the 1987 cartoon, 1990 movie, and some of the Mirage comics. And the only reason why I say that was because he's adamant on saying things like Baxter Stockman was originally black, even tho in every version except the '87 cartoon he's black and most fans knows this. He also gets small things wrong like Splinter clawing Shredder which only happened in the movie not the comic(and that he clawed Hun in the 2003 series), and also confusing Oroku Nagi for Oroku Saki. The Idw comics "was" a good version of the Turtles but with the addition of Jennika and Mutant town things have not been the same in the last couple of years which is why they had to relaunch.
