    the real tip here is ctrl + spacebar for playing a highlighted section. handy.

      lol, I was almost like 'You can use alt click when grid is on..." but then he said it... but the man know his shortcuts.. See the real trick is buy a 40 buttons mouse so you don't need a keyboard.

      @@shadowgauge5852 the smarter way to use a DAW is to try and use the keyboard exclusively, without using a mouse. Ever wondered why making music in a tracker is so fast? (if you know what you're doing).

    I usually just layer clicks when i need more transient, but that honestly feels cleaner and even more snappy, thank you sir! :)

    I noticed that the CTRL-SPACE feature also works for individual midi notes within a midi clip as well. Very cool to know it works the same with selected audio.

    Wow! This explains why I've heard songs where it sounded like the Snare and Kick sound like they have the same transient. Have to try this some time.

    Legend. I always learn a ton with your vids. That ctrl/cmd space bar is gonna come in clutch. G-clip looks like something I could definitely use, (I’ve been using saturators with soft clippers for a while now) and I’m excited to make some new drums ASAP.

    it's a common old school sample technic to cut the start point not on zero crossings to generate a transient click.

    The first method is actually how Koan Sound design their kicks and snares. They use fades and a gain plugin. But then again, everything they do is meticulous and precise. Do what works best for you is what I’d say.

    I mean.. you could just hard chop the kick intentionally NOT at the zero crossing too... but when that fails, pasting a HH transient does work wonders.. ;D

    u think it makes a difference (good or bad) if you're using a mono audio sample as the transient and keeping the tail end as a stereo sample?

      really late here obviously. General guideline is try everything, but I generally don't like stereo kicks, especially in the low end. That's partly due to phase shit but also because I like to be conservative in what I put in the stereo space. For example if the only thing that's wide in your mix is your synth bass (imagining some bass house thing) then it'll sound really wide. That being said, I find layer synth kicks with some accoustic, roomy sample with some width can be really nice (maybe highpass at ~80 hz)
