I don't listen too much to this genre of music, so there might be some resemblance to other composers, but your version reminded me of Purity Ring. And I really enjoyed it. Nice work!
Thanks for beeing part of this Malinda! It was super fun to watch you reacting and the original song is really great too. I love that in this series we get to watch the original artist of the sample hear the amazing creative mutations the 4 others came up with. Collaboration with you must be a treat. Thanks and all the best to you!
+Nathaniel C. Polley It's from her album, Love Letter. You can get it on most music platforms. I can't say everything, but it's definitely on Amazon and iTunes.
I feel like a lot of comments confuse their preference with which is the best track. Each artist went in with different intentions and have different outcomes. I think they were all successful at their goals which is the real metric: JVNA clearly wanted to preserve the tone and feel of the original track but put a spin on it which for many is a very nice listen. Some people want the style of the artist to be front and center, some seek out a different listening experience, her goal seemed to me at least "What if this artist had made this track in the style of EDM or Trap how might it be constructed?" Mr. Bill Clearly wanted to push the boundaries and wanted to break down the track into a thousand fragments and basically create something from the ground up. It was easily the most dense sound and complicated in structure but in creating that the side effect was it didnt preserve any of the original tracks intent or feel-- Not an issue just a totally different goal from the previous producer. Dyalla seemed like she went out of her way to challenge her self and to reinterpret the original track. The original is in a minor key and is clearly a more sad spin and swapping it into a major key and bringing brighter sounds gives a totally different message even with the same lyrics. She had totally different goals to the previous two producers and made a very nice track with that goal. Andrew was very upfront with his goals but to state it another way he wanted each of the sources of the samples to be self evident, its easy to destroy the source with enough distortion but he intentionally preserved those elements as like a trail of breadcrumbs, a puzzle of where they were sourced from the sample. Also different than the previous 3 producers, and also successful. I think the most important thing about evaluating art is to try and understand the artists intent and to judge for your self if they succeeded on their goals or if the medium was appropriate. Obviously I don't know for sure any of their intentions but they seemed to be somewhat evident in the results of their efforts. I think each producer wanted to create something specific with the sample, and set themselves a goal and I think each accomplished what they set out to do. The whole point of this project is to get different artists to get this very result, namely different approaches to the same basic premise "here is a sample, make something out of it" If each of them produced the same track the experiment would be a failure.
I actually think it's fair to equate ones preference for a song with its quality. As a listener I care about how a song makes me feel and whether I like listening to it, and I think that's the case for most people. Hence when we say a song is good it's a measure of our preference for a song rather than a measure of its technical aspects or the artists intensions. I personally enjoyed Andrew's take far more than Mr Bills take, so I'd call Andrews song a good song, and Bills less so (because what do the technical aspects matter if I don't enjoy listening to them?)
Not to diminish the huge amount of work that this took to create, but... MORE PLEASE! These are some of your best videos! If you continue to find good samples and interesting, diverse producers, this could be the coolest show on RUclips.

For people dissing Mr Bill, he literally started of saying that he wanted it to be as glitchy & trippy as possible. Usually glitchy songs aren’t supposed to sound “right” like JVNA’s which follows the usual EDM sound. His song was super detailed & good, why do you think the other producers were so speechless for?
His wasn't my favorite to listen to, but man was it technically impressive and interesting. Especially, the amount he pulled from the sample to make the rest of the track.

Exactly, after a few times watching this video again and again since last year I'm still wondering how the hell Andrew thought of putting Mr. Bill and a DJ in one place lol
All of these were so different and so cool. JVNA with a go-to EDM song, Mr. Bill's was super unique and different, Dyalla's was pumped up and so different from the sample, and Andrew's being slow with a pop vibe to it. I loved all these so much super good job to all the producers
@@nicck it does look good for self promotion, but I don't know that that's their motivation. It seems more the feeling that humans get when they get to collaborate with others on something that sparks their common interests. There's not much to compare with that happiness in my experience, getting to use your gifts and passions around someone else who also understands where you're coming from, at least somewhat. This is just my opinion and perspective, I may be wrong.
The four producers one sample thing is a really awesome way of seeing just how far you can go with just one kernel of a sample. Thanks so much for putting this together. I really like seeing what’s going on behind the curtain in the creation of these new mixes. Keep up the good work!
Dyalla's production was genius! Who knew you could make the melody major while also making the LYRICS uplifting, from a sample with a minor key and dark lyrics!
That horn drop goes through my head at least once a day. I lived with a producer once and as he put it "getting lost in the song and letting it take you on a journey is the holy grail of production". Guy was an ass, but absolutely right
I love how Dyalla was so open and ready for any genre to happen, from the others, she just accepted them with an open musical mind! Was a nice part of the video for me.
a suggestion for a future video: play the telephone game with a sample and some number of producers. to explain further, start with the original sample, give to the first producer, then take what they made and give it to the next producer with out sharing the first sample, and repeat until you've gotten through all your guests, then see how completely twisted it gets.
The appreciation you all have for each other’s takes on the sample is what makes this one great for me. Big fan of the series, really hoping for more in the future. Cheers!

Congrats to all of you, keep the good vibe and showing that competition against other people is not good at all , is not cunstructive yet self competition is so much worth it.
Mr. Bill put the most work into his remix, its truly insane. I wish he let it drop to let us get goosebumps but I think he wanted to teach more than show off.
What I really love with this show is the mood of it. It is all just so... Joyful! You are just all having fun and keep encouraging each other and providing sincere feedback to each other! It is really enjoyable and cheerful to watch, thanks all for that ❤️
That's the goal of syncopation...to throw you off and just make you sit there wanting more of the percussive tone. It's seriously so cool that while most artists don't even try it, dudes like Mr. Bill are creating absolutely breathtaking stuff in that spectrum
You just have to move to the down beat, as well as, the up beat. Eventually your down beat may become the up beat and then eventually back to the down beat. As long as you are on tempo you will always feel it.
Am I the only one who loves Andrew's the most. I like the others too but something about Andrew's craft is so perfected. He's so good at using samples. His experience in this field is really showing through.
I have watched every video in this series many times, and I appreciate them more with each view. It’s so refreshing hearing the collaboration, enthusiasm, and all of the fantastic different takes together - and it’s so refreshing that the effect lasts through multiple views, so you know the idea is just really solid.
Dude, I love all of your videos. They always inspire me to try and get in to music myself. That said, this is my FAVORITE series you do. Keep it up, man!
I loved the variety! But I gotta Andrews blew me away, so clean, so fresh. Perfect for clubbing and chilling but also for casual listen in the background, awesome.
I liked Dyalla’s the most, the song was completely changed but in a good way, like they said it gives out summer vibes lol. JVNA stayed more true to the song and made a obvious bop, and technical wise Mr.Bill murdered it with the meticulous details. And yeah Andrew was pretty chill
They're all really good producers. I've been a musician since 1977 and a producer since the late 1990s and I've learned a lot in a short time from Andrew's videos and these producer challenges, such that I'm talking part in my first RUclips producer's challenge right now. They're all really good for different reasons and I can't wait to see what the other producer in my challenge brings forward. It's not a competition but more about learning and growing together.
I've been a huge Mr Bill fan for like -ever and it gives me chills to see these producers reacting to his music, being mind blown like I was the first time I heard it years ago. Love it

Congrats to all of you, keep the good vibe and showing that competition against other people is not good at all , is not cunstructive yet self competition is so much worth it.
Wow RUclips you actually recommended me a good video
same lol
Mr. Bill left me speechless that was just epic
@DatrixTSW2012 they are just stupid
Wow you got Mr Bill on, that's badass. Amazing producer and sound designer
There's a full walkthrough on my channel where I explain exactly how I did it :)
The first episode was my favorite video on RUclips... With the second episode out this is now my favorite series on RUclips!
Mr. Bill put the most work into his remix, its truly insane. I wish he let it drop to let us get goosebumps but I think he wanted to teach more than show off.
They all did a great job, but Dyalla absolutely nailed this. I keep coming back to her track. Please release the full version so I can download it!!!
Wow.. This is my new favourite youtube series!
It's awesome to see people reacting to fellow musicians, what a great positive vibe!!
didnt expect a sequel
didn’t realise how much i wanted one
What I really love with this show is the mood of it. It is all just so... Joyful! You are just all having fun and keep encouraging each other and providing sincere feedback to each other! It is really enjoyable and cheerful to watch, thanks all for that ❤️
Dyalla: “why am I tired, I didn’t even do anything?” This was hilarious
me: omg I have four hours of homework tonight
also me: wait I hafta watch this 17-minute long video about cool music hol up
L A right? Ugh this is so good
lol same i have a huge test in HISTORY tommorow but im watching this
that's exactly me right now. except maybe 6 hours.
update i'm still working :(
SAME MATH QUIZ LMAO
"Allow me to get turnt" -Mr. Bill, 2018
Man that glitch stuff is super cool but it's so hard to bop to because I can't find a solid beat in there. I'm just frozen mesmerized.
Yeah syncopation makes that difficult because it is literally described as unexpected and off the beat
That's the goal of syncopation...to throw you off and just make you sit there wanting more of the percussive tone. It's seriously so cool that while most artists don't even try it, dudes like Mr. Bill are creating absolutely breathtaking stuff in that spectrum
Anyone loving this glitch sound should look at the album "Crying Over Pros for No Reason" by edIT, a member of the Glitch Mob.
trueeeeeee i lost it for a couple of times
You just have to move to the down beat, as well as, the up beat. Eventually your down beat may become the up beat and then eventually back to the down beat. As long as you are on tempo you will always feel it.
Dyalla might be the funniest producer I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.
Wow, the one by JVNA reminded me of Seven Lions!
That build up synth is so similar to Seven Lions!
I Love Seven Lions! I like the 3rd Happiest One Though! Gahd i Love EDM!
omg me too
BLACKTIGERSEXMACHINE
Mr.Bill and Andrew !!! this is to much for me, My two fav music dudes in one video. Thanks you for making this happen!
YOU ACTUALLY DID ANOTHER ONE??? ❤❤❤❤❤ ILYSM
Also JVNA ❤
"why am I out of breath? I didnt do anything." Same Dyalla, same.
This definitely should become a monthly series! Killer mixes!!!
Am I the only one who loves Andrew's the most. I like the others too but something about Andrew's craft is so perfected. He's so good at using samples. His experience in this field is really showing through.
I love that anti-drop more than anything tbh.
I caught myself smiling during the whole video. So much creativity and happiness in one video... Please more of these !
lol Mr. Bill looks unimpressed with everyone.
lol that's his normal facial expression. He's always like this lol You never know what this guy is feeling
What's the song at 1:20 ?? Is it JVNA's track?
@@widamusic3993 yes, it's JVNA's track, as shown
@@alexc9278 He smiles, indicating happiness. What more do ppl expect?
@@gurkenhamster "indicating happiness"
You're a robot
Glad to see Mr. Bill getting some love. I've been keeping my eye on him for years. He deserves so much more credit
No he doesn't... He sucks.
Mr bill Is ~~~~~~~~~~~
@@billybarnett9834
@@billybarnett9834 why do you say that
You can tell dyalla was so hyped throughout everything
Why is nobody mentioning how good JVNA's edit was?! Damn!!
I know! Hers was amazing!
Wonder how it would sound as an oldschool dark dubstep(Burial like)edit...
yes omg it was AMAZING
Fr
The best among them. Most cohesive take.
My thoughts:
1. JVNA was the coolest.
2. Mr. Bill was the most unique.
3. Dyalla had the most variety.
4. Andrew was the most chill?
Honestly mr bill had his own style that was yes very unique but I couldn’t keep track of it :(
I liked Dyalla’s the most, the song was completely changed but in a good way, like they said it gives out summer vibes lol. JVNA stayed more true to the song and made a obvious bop, and technical wise Mr.Bill murdered it with the meticulous details. And yeah Andrew was pretty chill
@@judityrezendes7244 Dyalla lowkey giving me louisthechild vibes
I'd say Dyalla was most chill
They're all really good producers. I've been a musician since 1977 and a producer since the late 1990s and I've learned a lot in a short time from Andrew's videos and these producer challenges, such that I'm talking part in my first RUclips producer's challenge right now.
They're all really good for different reasons and I can't wait to see what the other producer in my challenge brings forward. It's not a competition but more about learning and growing together.
Mr. Bill needs to hop on Flume’s future mixtape
I've been a huge Mr Bill fan for like -ever and it gives me chills to see these producers reacting to his music, being mind blown like I was the first time I heard it years ago. Love it
The third girl was dope, also loved her persona. She's too cool.
