Absolutely loved this clip with Denise Alexander and Michael Gregory. They made a awesome couple back in the days, better than the other Rick. The last Rick didn't jive well with Leslie.
@@sweetum57 I too, taught that. It took me a long time to get use to Chris Robinson as the new Rick. Micheal Gregory was so handsome & good looking. I believe he had good Chemistry with Denise Alexander's Lesley.

I'm not a soap opera superfan, but I have enjoyed watching the late-70s to early-80s GH clips and shows here on RUclips. Watching this clip brings everything together for me. People can say whatever they want about Gloria Monty, but looking at this dull set and seeing the characters and dialogue buried under this big cloak of boring, anyone involved with soaps should worship Gloria. She breathed life into this show and it was because of her that General Hospital was able to see 55 years on the air. The David Hamilton character and storyline with Laura was just ... creepy. I can understand now why she was paired up with Scotty. The character of Luke Spencer was what got this show on the road. Laura got her revenge on Bobbie (albeit indirectly) by her brother obsessing over her. And the soundtrack of the pop music of the time was the icing on a picture perfect cake. That time was one in a million - literally.
That's the exact fireplace mantel I remember seeing, when I first started watching GH! And the Christmas tree too!! Beautiful set; they did an amazing job!🤩❤
David Hamilton was one of several villains to appear on ABC dramas in the late 1970s and take advantage of young women. Some like GH's Luke and OLTL's Marco became anti-heroes. Others like David and EON's Wade Meecham were total creeps whose violent deaths were inevitable. Rick was so naïve when it came to David: Lesley's instincts about David were right on target.
sally kohorst how right you are. Have watched all of these old clips and I am in heaven. I have no desire to watch the show today. Doesn’t even compare!
Boy that's true! I started watching GH on my momma's knee in 1969 when I was years old and I continued until Tony Geary left for good in 2015 after Cartini ( Ron Carlvati and Frank Valentini) did their hatchet job on the show. They ruined it for me. And from what I read in the soap press and my Facebook groups today's GH really sucks. Its still the Sonny Corinthos hour and most of my faves from the past are either dead in real life, retired or so old they get zero airtime even though they are still in the cast. No thanks.
It's amazing the job Gloria Monty did when she arrived. This show needed updating. I posit she went too far in the 80s, but her initial work was stunning.
I agree totally. Not only GH but daytime in general needed production value updates. Most of the scripts were painfully slow paced and the dialog like the background music were way too over the top and extremely melodramatic. Gloria came in and really jazzed things up. She vicariously gave the entire genre a much needed facelift because they all ended up trying to copy GH to compete with their stellar ratings. But like the old cliche says there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Gloria's adventure/conspiracy stories did indeed go a bit too far and the science fiction angle with the Cassadines freezing PC was a prime example of that despite the stellar ratings.
@Draper Scott wow, I can't believe you think that! It's certainly your right to your opinion, I'm just shocked. This show not only exploded in popularity with her, but it made history. People still follow this story faithfully 40 years later, especially the oldest parts, from when the Luke & Laura story started. How can that be considered ruining it?
I'm not sure if you still get notices 7 years later. But the David Hamilton story has been brought up again. It is part of a storyline that is currently taking place on GH. Check out this clip: ruclips.net/video/TqU-8oxIt7I/видео.html
Lesley got legal custody of Laura when she was still legaly Lesley Faulker... so I guess that would be the reason. She stayed Lesley Faulkner until she married Rick.
This has to be the end of Dec 1977 because Rick says it's after Christmas and he doesn't want Leslie feeling like this in the New Year. Also, the thought of Laura with David Hamilton is just creepy. He looks like her dad.
Yes that is because DH had a daughter at home with his xwife. The same age as Laura he raped Laura I don't care what the writers or anybody might say. Rosie
Thank you so much for uploading. It's so nice seeing scenes before I started watching in 79'. You can really see how much Laura grew over the years. Lesley was perfection as always. But didn't care for this Rick at all.
This is the first I've seen David Hamilton, all that fuss over him??? This Rick is a much better actor and has better chemistry with DA than the one that followed, too wooden, IMO. The older GH is the best to me, esp. L&L under Gloria Monty brilliant direction.
Sally Miller Yes, great description of CR, I couldn't come up with a word for him, wooden is good. I feel Michael Gregory had Much better chemistry with DA. IMO
Incredible history here. David Hamilton would now be classified a pedophile and (hopefully thrown in jail), but this era is when the crime was easy enough to get away with. The sets, the actors, and the way the characters evolve when Gloria Monty took over is a testament to the evolution of soaps - every move made from the late 70s through the 80s can be attributed to a lot of Monty's genius. Watching this again just blows me away. There is more footage out there. I guarantee you that. I watched the scene of Lesley and Laura as Laura reveals to Lesley that she remembered about David Hamilton before going to trial, but was too scared to tell, and Lesley reams Laura out. It was only on audio on YT, but somebody actually posted the video. It was incredible footage, high quality, but the channel got taken down. I have not seen it posted since. But, it exists! This means there's a good probability that there's more!
@@christineadams1284 It was. I was so pissed at myself for not copying the recording so that I could put it out there for others. If I had even thought for a second more and used my brain I would have copied it. Seeing it was vivid and incredible when finally pairing it with the audio.

It’s funny to compare Michael Gregory’s Rick to Chris Robinson’s. They couldn’t be more different Gregory was handsome and charismatic and humorous. Robinson was decent looking but low key and serious. It’s lucky he was paired with Denise Alexander, who had lots of screen presence. Once he was paired with the equally low key Judith Chapman (Ginny), they were just dullsville.
