Thanks! It was good to hear from someone who uses the 50-140 for sports. I've been using my xf90mm f2 which is currently my longest reach Fuji lens. It's great, but some extra reach would be nice. The price of that 50-140 makes things a bit complicated though! Now, let's talk about two very important things I noticed in this video; that sweet burst Les Paul on the wall and that beautiful Martin. LOL! I live in the Lehigh Valley where Martin Guitars are produced. It's a very cool factory tour to do. I also have a Les Paul. Mine's a 1971ish LP Deluxe Goldtop. I have it since 1980. Well, thanks again for the input. Have a great week and Happy New Year!
For general subjects, documentary, and photojournalism, I use the following three Fujinon lenses: 56mm f/1.2 23mm f/1.4 16mm f/1.4 For vacation, travel, and one-camera/one-lens situations, I use the 23mm f/2 Fujinon. For video and backup to my prime lenses, I use: 16-55mm f/2.8 Fujinon 50-140mm f/2.8 Fujinon
I've got your first 3, and I actually purchased them in the order you presented. Instead of the 16, I actually have the Sigma 56 f/1.4 for my portrait work. I'm an Oregon Fuji photographer out here on the East side. You've got some nice work here.
@@lumberjack3008 My favourite lens with great rendering is 60 years old with no AF. I never ever use AF-C. I never have issues with 35mm1.4 noice. I just make images and for that it's my favourite lens of all time. Shot Sony, Canon, Leica, Lumix, Nikon & Olympus over 24 years, but only worked as a photographer for 3 years. I got modern, quiet primes but the 35mm1.4 is so special in so many ways it's my favourite.
If you want great AF that ain't it. It's a nice compact lens. I like that with the originals (23 f1.4, 35f1.4 and 14f2.8. Great quality for one who is not in a hurry, in a compact form factoe)
I shot a year with just manual lenses and got my best images ever incl, surfing, skateboarding, portraits etc. It'snot the AF that is slow. It's lightning fast compared to my older AF lenses for Canon. I actually never notice much difference in AF on any camera or lens the past 25 years. But I don’tphotograph, Tennis, birds or running kids. @@TarzanGuadeloupe
@@acoopervideo I take photos almost exclusively. But I know from some RUclipsrs that they also use the Viltrox 13mm for blogs. The lens is suitable for taking photos of architecture and landscapes even when the aperture is open, and is consistently sharp. From f/4 it is absolutely sharp. I would say that the lens fully matches the performance of original Fujifilm lenses. The only thing that may not be as good is the coating when there is direct, strong backlight.
Hi, Nice video. I have the original 10-24 which I use mostly for video work as the internal zoom means no adjustments needed on the gimbal but since I am predominantly a portrait photographer, I shoot with 3 lenses now, The 23mm F/1.4 and 56mm F/1.4 Sigma and the Original 35mm F/1.4 Fuji. The Sigma glass is really good and at less than half the price of the eqv. fujis I could not justify the difference after testing. I recently shot a dance show (on a stage, in bad lighting) using the Sigma 56mm F/1.4 in AFC and it nailed focus every time I was very impressed the 50-140 is a lens I need maybe once a year, at that point I just hire it.
Thanks for the thoughtful response. I recently acquired the Viltrox 23mm which has been working great for in studio work. For reasons unknown, I can never get the 10-24mm to work for videos especially real estate. I did use it once for a BMW ad where I needed low level shots of an elf buying a car (long story). I would be curious what your settings are and results you’re getting!
@@acoopervideo I pretty much use the 10-24 in manual focus at F/4 or 5.6 which gives a massive dof and set focus at 5m to pretty much infinity. I also use it a lot for fixed video on a tripod. Off the top of my head , I shoot in 4k 24p with shutter speed at 1/48 h.265 Not really had an issues at all
Personally just use the 18mm 1.4, 16-55 F 2.8 and XF 55-200. 50-140 is an amazing lens but is just way too bulky for me to carry around and the price is also very high. 16 I used to use but was too wide for me so I changed my route don't really take wide angled photos much to be honest. 16- 55 is an amazing beast mode of a lens for mid range but Ill admit when it comes to size and cost I do regret not purchasing the 18-55. As a non professional and hobbyist, I would say there are many lenses out there that you dont really need to spend the big bucks unless you really really care about your photos or well you have unlimited pockets.
Thanks for sharing! I considered the 16-55mm but thought was too bulky for my gimbal and also wouldn’t work filming cramped car interiors. For high quality inexpensive lenses, I’ve started playing around with a 23mm Viltrox prime and it’s amazing.
@@acoopervideo Yeah Im thinking about in a little bit to switch over to a 3 primes for traveling purposes - 18mm, 33mm and maybe the 50 or 90mm. Also seriously thinking about the F2s. the 23, 35 and 50 are so miniature and good to carry around but not sure about the performance capability.
@@benlachica1730 Flexible is subjective. What are you looking to use for? and how much money do you have? If you are asking for Flexible I would definitely say a Zoom lens. I would say look at the 16-80, 18-55 and 16-55. The 18-55 I believe is the cheapest since its a kit lens and has variable zoom. 16-80 is very flexible as well but has a lower end F stop which might matter depending on what you are looking for especially low light situations. The 16-55 imo is the king and the most expensive. 16-55 is Weather Resistant and has the fastest Autofocus and a consistent 2.8 F stop which is pretty good for zooms in low light. I still love my xpro2 but the fuji lenses… they are not bad, but. I recently had Leica glas on the xpro2 … ohhh Jesus … its like ahhh this is the true results of my camera sensor. Fuji needs to step up in the glas quality, meaning… do better lenses and charge more money. Its unbelievable insane how good the old German lens is in 2024. Leica is doing it right since 75 years, they don’t even need to think about if their glas reaches the sensors full resolution….🎉
The 90 is really sharp, you can crop in no problem. So it's got reach. Plus with extension rings it has replaced the 60 macro I had with frankly better results. I also sold my 70-270 as a result of having the 90mm as up until 150 i just had better results with the 90.. It's excellent for portrait too. It's weather sealed and focuses well.... It's just so bloody heavy. It's the only chunky lens I have kept in my line up but I admitedly don't use it as much as I would have liked to.
