- 🇧🇾 This is part two of my journey to a provincial city in Belarus. In it we have Lenin statues, vodka and a strange pink sausage made of...Well I have no idea. Join me once again on my trip to Bobruisk.
Part One of this series: • Back To The USSR | Los...
I get a feeling that this man's first word as a baby was 'soviet'
LOL
😂😂😂
😂
And the second word was vodka
More like suicide
“I don’t know why I’m getting hard stares”
Shakes stuffed beavers hand*
Epic😂
When he started shaking the stuffed beaver's hand and talking to it I thought exactly that. It's not exactly normal to film yourself acting like that in eastern europe
Fun fact: it's a beaver because the city name has something to to with beavers (Bobruisk - Bobyor). Bobyor is Beaver (see the similar sound to it).

Questions Answered:
1. Where are all the people? Young people leave these small cities in search of work in larger cities. In daytime people are at work. People don't have much disposable income so don't just go out needlessly window shopping like in the West for example. Many Belarusian people have emigrated abroad too. There is a shorter life expectancy and also there was a war not long ago that killed 25% of the population. Bobruisk had it's Jewish population wiped out rapidly.
2. The people there look so miserable there! Are they? No. Belarusian people are friendly but not for no reason. By that I mean if they don't know you they can come across as harsh and unsmiling on the street but once they know you and see you are a normal dude they are completely different and warm up and become very very hospitable and warm.See the two girls in my Indian food video. They are typical Belarusian girls. Fun and friendly. I would not travel in a region if the people were not decent and welcoming. They also don't like strangers walking up and filming them ( understandably ) so it is hard to film interactions and capture their warmth on film. When the camera is off I meet epic people who like to party, tell jokes, have a laugh.
3. It looks so depressing! Is it? Not to me. I love the region and the people. I never feel depressed here. The weather is shit in the winter for sure. Summer is different entirely. 30c every day, blue skies, girls in short skirts. Now people are just going from home to work and trying to avoid the cold so it looks somewhat grim. In summer I will show you how it really is.
4. It is a dictatorship! How can you film there?! I am not an election observer so don't know how free elections are but Belarus is not North Korea!! KGB do not follow you. There are clubs and casinos, people talk openly. People travel abroad freely. Internet is not restricted. People here do whatever they want just like in most other places. It's a normal place but they respect their Soviet past. Great sacrifices were made by men, women and children to defend this land and they don't want to sell it to some smooth talking foreign banker in pin striped suit.
If you would like to know more about the country then please buy my book from Amazon: The Burning Edge by Arthur Chichester in which I travel through Belarus and share my experiences and opinions.
I bought and read the book and I enjoyed it. I don't know how Mr Chichester feels about you revealing so openly that you are his ghostwriter though

How is that Soviet town when USSR died in 1992? And historically "Babruysk was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and was an important militarily fortified border post. In the 14th century a castle was built on one of the hills near the Berezina River. "...
Biały Not much has changed since 1992 and it’s still very similar to USSR times, that’s why. So it looks very close to 1992 and obviously since 600 years not close to some Polish-Lithuanian city.
your a Legend bruv....love peace and safety as you continue to bring culture to us stuck in the mainland. Be well brother and thank you for all you do for us.
I’m from this town and I’ve never seen it from such awesome point 😂
I was in a coffee shop in Kyiv and they had this impressive, huge cake castle. I took a photo of it. A waiter (a kid about 20 years old) came over and said, "excuse me sir, you can't do that, it's against the law." I told him I guarantee the Ukrainian parliament wouldn't waste their time passing laws making it illegal to photograph birthday cakes. He just stood there and looked at me until I told him to go away. That was five years ago. I guess he didn't want me putting it on Facebook, after all, they might get get some customers.
@@alexsh1135 Everyone was friendly. This waiter was polite. It's just that he had it in his head it was his job to stop me from taking a picture of the birthday cake, either not understanding having a photo on social media would help the business he worked in, or possibly, not wanting the work that would come with more customers. I'm not sure why. Stuff like this happened all the time in Kazakhstan. For instance I asked a worker at an upscale shop why they didn't carry one drink they used to have. She said, "we kept selling out of it, so we decided not to carry it any more."
Joe Urbanas Yup that’s the mindset in a nutshell.
@MySonNarkoman so American and Japanese people has same soviet mindset? Lmao
It seems like a common thing in Eastern Europe. I live in Romania which is in European Union and full of foreign turists and expats and they still do that especially in shops and some derilict industrial sites. Part is mentality part is that they are afraid you will take a picture of a cockroach on the cake and put it on fbook.
Bear in mind that in most of the shopping malls and supermarkets in Western Europe you cannot take pictures freely too. Often there is a written warning. I fail to understand the reason, though...

Antonio Costa Well that’s a Victorian thing isn’t it? When I meet brits in Europe on vacation they’re all wearing sweatpants, they’re scowling at people and they treat their all-you-can-eat buffet staff as absolute dirt. Not much traveler about that behavior.. it would seem to me that such values as being polite is completely lost to these people. These vlogs have kept me company while I'm having covid and being bored at home. Awesome content! So entertaining to watch. I'm from Estonia and so much of this reminds me of my own country as well. Especially the food. We eat all the same stuff here.
Whats name of song at 13:36?

12:06 my man out there in the background is in KGB and was told to keep an eye out for western spies or he REALLY wanted a piece of that шашлык
Outstanding narrative. It's like walking, eating, exploring with a trusted friend who knows his way round. Cheers, mate!
