Manipulating your feelings is not good. Our feelings alert us when something is not right or right, and it's good to honor those feelings...so if we don't feel happy, it's important to identify why and address the reason. Tricking or lying to ones self will not address the root cause for feeling low/unhappy.

    Hey Rocio,
I have been watching you and the whole Marwa crew for quite sometime. I don’t comment and have never commented.
Firstly, kudos to you for being brave enough to expose your vulnerability but also it demonstrates how authentic and real you. Unfortunately, doing so exposes you to some not very nice people and feedback.
From another driven and goal oriented and purposeful woman to another. I get you and I feel you. I loved your visual illustration of plans and where you wanted to go and where you are now.
    So, here goes!
    Firstly your home and privacy.
Your home is an African home, what that means, it belongs to everyone. You need to decide if that is how you both want it to be or not. Now Marwa is an African man and privacy may not be something that he gets.
As such you need to describe exactly what you would desire. As it stands your home is not a home. It’s a house, you have no control as to who comes in when. A home is your sacred space where people only come invited respecting your space and your time. Unfortunately a home by African and European standard are different things.
Your home and space needs boundaries unless what Marwa wants is Airbnd or a hotel. You need a sacred space.
    Feeling lonely.
Of course you look lonely, why?
You are in this strange land with all these lovely people, amazing weather but no one gets you. You also do not appear to have made close friends or confidantes.
Listen Kenya is a developing nation, see out like minded people around the area. I am sure not all the people around the area are villagers.
You will find someone like you with the same interests if you seek people off camera.
    Your Vision and goals
Ok, like you said. Life has thrown you long limes. That still doesn’t mean you cannot make lemonade. It might taste more like limenade but you can still be a musician. Just stay focused and stop getting distracted. Music is alive in Africa.
You are in the perfect space to start creating and recording Music.
Just turn one of those many rooms into your studio. Write music, record Music and load it on a new Rocio cabrera channel.
Also get Marwa or you work and buy yourself a flat in Nairobi where you can go and perform or get that vibe seen when you want it or travel to Uganda, the music scene in Uganda 🇺🇬 is more vibrant than Kenya.
Gal, if this is the life you decide to choose. You can still make it what you want it to be. You genuinely do not have to live a typical village life. The world is global.
Sending you love. Now before the haters come hating. I speak from experience as a typical and proud African woman.

@@michellewilliams3855 you live in the US which is a different environment than living in an African environment. As the lady above mentioned, in an African setting, the home belongs to everyone. Its not just about the Wife and Husband, the home belongs to family and friends also. Africans are communal people and it's part of the culture. A wife or husband cannot simply say "I do not want friends or family visiting my house" that alone will turn people against you. In Africa, having friends/family against you, will make you an outcast and nonexistent, which could have huge implications when one needs help. Roico will have to adjust to the Africa way of life, otherwise, her life/marriage with marwa will not work. Of course, she can demand some boundaries to how often people come to the house but she cannot cut people off completely.

I think there are too many unfinished projects and incomplete things around her, so her spirit isn't settled. She calls herself wife, and boyfriend husband, but they aren't married, so that part of her life isn't settled. No room in the house is complete, so she has to navigate around a make-do situation - make-do kitchen, make-do dining, make-do bathroom, make-do bedroom, make-do laundry room, make-do closets. Finishing and decorating the above mentioned rooms before all those other outside projects will help to anchor you Rocio. I think there should be a section of the house upstairs just for family - you, Marwa, and the baby - and off limits for everyone else. In that area you should have a fully completed and decorated kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, nursery, and bedroom. When your living situation is not properly set up, that will wear you down after a while, and make you feel unsettled. Rocio described herself as a perfectionist, so with a baby coming and being in an environment that's incomplete will make anyone feel unsettled. I also think the lack of mobility is limiting how far she can venture out. A car is needed so that she can drive herself around, explore and venture outside of the village where she may be able to make more friends, and or find things to do that are more interesting.

True. Her bedroom should have the kitchen and closet complete, the make do kitchen should be cleared and have lounge seats/sofas so when she goes to that area it's just her, baby and Marwa to access. The kitchen downstairs should be finished and the dinning so guests just stay downstairs. That way more privacy for Rocio when she is upstairs.

Yes, our purpose in life is to be our authentic unique self. That is our only job. 1) Act on your excitement/passion to the best of your ability with zero assumptions or insistence on the outcome. 2) Stay in a positive state, no matter what manifests. 3) Constantly examine your belief systems and let go of the ones that don't serve you.

Ro, your struggle is totally valid. My thoughts are after the baby comes, you and Marwa need to start thinking about and creating the kind of life that fulfills you both and individually. The village can be slow and socially unfulfilling. A lot of young kenyans move from the villages and small towns to the cities for this very reason. Even though everyone means well, they can't fill in that social gap. You may want to consider living partly in the city where you can build social connections that fulfill you and your creative side. Some of these dimensions you will never find in the village. Open yourself to the possibility of building a social circle outside of the village...it will give you exposure and prepare you to guide the vision of the villa as a guest resort.
Privacy is gonna be increasingly important. It will be important to keep your residential wing off limits once the construction is done. This Will have to be a firm decision coz culturally, the village doesn't get the need for privacy...

This quote challenges the idea that external companionship is the sole antidote to loneliness. It suggests that true well-being stems from finding contentment within oneself. When you feel comfortable in your own skin, solitude becomes an opportunity for peace and self-discovery, rather than a source of sadness.

Rocio how you feel is normal. I remember the first year I came to American I was the unhappiest person. I had a good life and a good job and then I came to America and had to start over again. Every time I heard from someone in Jamaica I cried. It will become much easier after a few years and when the child comes, it might not even matter where in the world you are. Deep down in my heart I still misses Jamaica after 40 years but now America feels like home.

Hi Ro, I want to start by saying that I don't know you personally, so please don't take my comment as judgment. From my observations, it seems like a significant sacrifice to leave behind the fast-paced American lifestyle (yes, I know Mexico is part of North America!) for a village lifestyle. The contrast between the two is stark - from vibrant and upbeat to slow and relaxed. Additionally, in America, there's a strong emphasis on chasing your dreams and continually growing, whereas with Marwa, it seems like you're figuring things out as you go. I pray that you and Marwa will have the opportunity to spend six months in North America and experience the modern lifestyle you might be missing. It's similar to Dee's situation - she also struggles with village life and craves the excitement of the city, which is why she often leaves the village to travel to more vibrant places. She can't seem to stay in the village for too long and needs to escape to places that match her energetic vibe. Anyway, enough from me! I truly wish you all the best and hope you have a wonderful pregnancy. Stay strong!

The hard truth is that village life is not for you. You will never feel happy until you accomplish your true purpose and live life on your terms. You need to understand that you are not tied to this situation. You have the choice and freedom to move back to Mexico city and follow your plan. Marwa needs to understand this. Its a difficult but the right one. Many years after following your plan you will come back to Villa Medellin and everything might fall into place.

Rocio, I think you need to recognize that life is filled with curve balls, and nothing is ever clearly predictable. One thing we never think of is a back up plan, we aim for the stars but achieve the moon instead. Whichever situation we find ourselves in, we need to make the most of, and one thing that we should always remember. I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet. Moral of the story -- there is always somebody worse off than you and you need to give thanks for whatever little you have.

  • @cristalclear2499
    @cristalclear2499 Месяц назад +3

I think it's ok to feel lonely and a little disconnected from being far from home. Missing family and friends can also add to some moments of loneliness even though enjoying acceptance from your boyfriend and his family, and of course, the locals. Being in a foreign country will force you to develop a thick skin because you're likely to face the unexpected norms and behavior from people who intrude into your privacy which you might not be used to but still seems normal to those around you. Just take it one day at a time, and also, don't be afraid to share your feelings with the one that cares about you most. Eventually, you'll make adjustments in areas that initially were making you uncomfortable. When you are sad with loneliness, just stay in your room and play your favorite music or even cook your favorite country dish as that might trigger good memories and aromas. Living far from home is a form of sacrifice you make. Good luck, Rosio.

I lived in Okinawa Japan for 14 years, during those years I only dating Japanese women during my stay, everyone said that I will get home sick, the people don’t like Americans, and especially don’t like African American , I didn’t listen to none of the negative reviews. I knew that I can and could adapt to any culture, race of people if given a honest chance. Japanese give me that opportunity through trust and understanding, I had a few talent that made my adjustment easier for the people of Japan to accept me, once I established myself in the community gain the trust and respect of the community, every door just open wide, every one knew who I was . I was welcome everywhere . Those were the best 14 years of my life, even though I lived 14 years there, I travel all over Asia , 38 countries to be exacted. I cgan adapt to any culture or race of people with absolutely no problems. When you have a good soul, believe in the Lord, strive to be a decent human being others attract to you easily, and without fear or prejudice…learn to truly adapt to your environment when living in a foriegn…
