    David Draiman is completely anti-autotune and was furious when he found out that Conan's producers autotuned parts of this. If there is one singer on the planet that doesn't need autotune, it's David Draiman.

    • @JPVNG67

      no reason to be furious it worked..this version in conan is beautiful! certainly much better than the one in x factor on australia..agree?

    • @mlong1958
      @mlong1958 3 года назад +2

      @@JPVNG67 He was furious because they used it behind his back. He doesn't use autotune and they craft their music so that it can be played live just like the studio version. The x factor Australia one is a bit rough. The live version with Miles Kennedy is pretty spot on.

    Its 100% authentic and he was actually sick during this performance. David Draiman is perfection.

    • @Gingenuity

      Not to be negative but is there any proof to him being sick? So many people lie these days.

    • @undrtakr2222
      @undrtakr2222 4 года назад +14

      @@Gingenuity actually, yes. They had an interview on it and that's where they found-out, that he was even sick. And, he refused to let them use any auto-tuning, during the song. They actually had a short video of him and the manager arguing over it, because he was sick, the manager thought it best for them to use auto-tuning, while he was on stage singing. But, he hate's to use auto-tuning effect's(He actually get's it, from a few band's, name ably Metallica, who tour so much, to perfect James Hetfield's vocal's, as well as they can perfect their pitch with the instrument's & their routine's on the stage, so there are no mistake's, as well. Which, is why they sound so much the same, on live stage, as they do on vinyl. Back in the 80's, there were very few band's, that refused to let the auto-tuning program to help them, just in-case, they were to do it acoustically on a show, or whatever. That way. They wouldn't sound like they are so wavy and sound more like what they truly represent.). But, I heard, that the manager won the battle, where for this version, they did allow it, due to his use of high coughing and how if he pushed too much, he would cough more. But, here is the link, to the actual video, of the song, by Disturbed. ruclips.net/video/u9Dg-g7t2l4/видео.html
      They also did another cover, that they even made better, then the original, like this, as well. It's the early 80's Phil Collins song "Land Of Confusion", where like the song of "Sound Of Silence", they added their own darkness pitch to it, to bring out the different level's through the song. Here is the link to that one, as well.

      @@Gingenuity but, a good question to ask. Due to there is a ton of theories out there. To better understand why David Draiman's voice is so perfect in it, even how it damn near sound's identical to the other video, where there is no auto-tuning used, what-so-ever(The link I shared, of the actual video, not the representation of their album, on the "Conan Show", that she used.). Is, the song by Disturbed - Down With The Sickness(Here is the link for that, as well. Bear-in-mind, that due to some graphic lyric's, they cut a short part of the song out. ruclips.net/video/09LTT0xwdfw/видео.html ) Where he open's his real vocal's with his classical/Tenor/Jewish Cantor studies, as a young boy, along with his continuous practice's, with various teacher's. To not need the auto-tuner equipment. Another song by Disturbed, that he show's his range in vocal's, from the deep Tenor(Almost a Bass. But, not quite.), to the higher pitched Alto(Almost Soprano. But, not quite there.), is the song, Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists(Here is the link for it, as well. ruclips.net/video/drTQaAaCeh0/видео.html )...

Turns out Simon & Garfunkel have endorsed this version of their song as the best all-time, including their own!! 7-13-19 - 95.98 million views. The performance she is watching is in a network TV studio, I think NBC ... it was one of the late night shows. He sang as a Cantor with his father in a synagogue in Brooklyn, where he grew up. ‘Disturbed’ is now based in Chicago. The singer is David Draiman. What’s most remarkable about this-he was SICK during this performance. He had the flu and was running a fever. Apparently, Paul Simon (who wrote this in 1964) saw this performance on ‘Conan’ that night and called Draiman to say it was one of the best covers he’d ever heard of his masterpiece. Draiman was (understandably) stunned!

    Binging reactions to this masterpiece by Disturbed and wanted to say I loved your expression and honest excitement as the song ramped up to the crescendo...can't help but smile at your smile!
    I'm not able to pickup auto-tune but I've seen other reviewers question that as well. Some have commented in other reaction videos there was auto-tune applied to certain notes as David was suffering from a flu at the time of the performance (or something along that line) so perhaps they did that to even out or strengthen some notes. I also read that David said no to auto-tune before the performance, preferring to take his chances on his voice and was not at all pleased when he listened to the recording post performance. But really, in the end, does it really even matter if it was used or not? I don't get the hype around this tbh.

    David draymin is the lead singer of Disturbed. He is classical trained and can sing Opera with the best of them. He has a vocal range that is other worldly and loves performing. This song was originally sung by Simon and Garfunkel in the mid sixties. After Paul Simon heard this version he sent an email to David and said it was his song now. Ultimate compliment from the original singer, song writer.

    I enjoy your videos, Lucia ... I thought you might like to know a bit more about Disturbed's singer David Draiman. He grew up in Chicago in an Orthodox Jewish family and had training as a Haz(z)an - Cantor - one who sings the Jewish religious service. So trained, Yes, but not Operatic... He also had to have surgery for a chronic acid reflux condition where a problem causes stomach acid to 'bath'e the lower esophagus - which may have effected his singing apparatus.. I didn't know anything about Disturbed until I saw the Official video of this song - amazing emotional video... I love his voice and the emotion he can convey. He says he did rebel and have anger and angst due to a very restricted childhood which could come out in the type of music his band chose to make... Be well - if you have trouble with comment trolls, you might find someone to act as a moderator who can weed out the worst - your positive commenters don't need exposure to their poison, either.

    Disturbed makes a lot of angry music. Somewhat anarchistic. It is great music - all this educated anger is priceless.
    Disturbed also covered "Land of confusion" from "Genesis". All their songs have lyrics that scream in rightful blood-red anger.
    All of this rage is worth checking out.

    I realize this has been posted for a while now but what a performer. For your interest when David sings, "Down with the sickness" the beat drop of "ooh-wah-ah-ah-ah" just came to him one day. Here is a copy paste of a paragraph that tells what also changed/helped his voice. “I used to have, and I still do have, really bad acid reflux,” Draiman, who was raised Jewish, told MTV in 2012. “I had a surgical procedure done…that repaired a valve at the top of my stomach that had completely burned away.” This, said Draiman, increased his range and strengthened his vocals. “That noise,” he said, just kinda came one day. [The] beat is so tribal it made me feel like an animal.” Pretty cool story.
