Mastodon is probably my all-time favorite band. Their range is so vast, they cover so many different genres across their discography, and it's hard not to love their three vocalists for their own unique flavors they bring. When this album came out I had this song on repeat for months. Another underappreciated song off this album is Roots Remain, which I feel like has a pretty similar vibe to this song. Some other good ones you guys should check out are Sleeping Giant, Crack the Skye and Diamond in the Witch House.

This album is SICK...everybody didn't like "show yourself"...and dismissed the rest of the album....their loss!!..It's all brilliant imo, including show yourself...this song is at least three songs in one...I love hushed and grim as well...they are just on another level recently...

Hi reaction buddies! Mastodon has a catalog with a lot of different flavors. It will be a roller-coaster ride for sure. Right now I'm feeling the dark mood of the last album "Hushed and Grim" particularly the songs "Sickles and Peace", "Pain With An Anchor", "Teardrinker", "Skeleton of Splendor", "More Than I Can Could Chew", "Savage Lands". I mean...this album right now is already considered a masterpiece of art within the genre. Maybe you can react to some of them along the journey. Peace!
Tread Lightly is such a banger by them. Such a hard hitter. Crack The Skye and Hushed and Grim are definitely them at their best. Their newest, Hushed and Grim is definitely a step away from their norm but it's still very much Mastodon.but they're trying some new things and it slaps so hard. And keep in mind, this band has 3 singers. Brent, the lead guitarist sings, Troy the bassist sings and Brian the drummer also sings. Sometimes all three on the same song, sometimes just one of them, sometimes 2 of them. They mix it up nicely. They literally don't have any bad records or even bad songs. They have good songs, then they have fucking amazing songs.

I could be wrong, but I believe that "sound" you pointed out at 6:00 is Brann, the drummer, dropping a milk crate of handheld percussion instruments. They did this throughout the Emperor of Sand album
Just saw these guys on a co- headlining tour with Opeth a few months ago. As great as Opeth is live, these guys definitely held their own! Great live show! They don't disappoint...

I just saw them in San Diego a few days ago. Incredible band live. do yourselves a favor and see them if you get a chance. For some songs id recommend from them: Megaladon, Crystal Skull, Mother Puncher, Eyes of Serpents. you really cant grow wrong.

Brann learned how to play drums with lead guitar players. Hence his fill and drumming style.
