Man…I will never forget this day. So tragic to see half of the trees gone in CR. We had no power for 11 days. Hope you made it out ok. Thank you for posting, much love
I will never forget that storm. I was trying to film it at a Cook County, Illinois Forest Preserve. The wind knocked down my cameras. blew my french fries all over the field and sogged up my McDonald's Quarter Pounder with cheese. Glad I have other storm videos under my belt. Subscribed.
These have been showing up in my feed lately. What a freaking day. I hope you all got away somewhat unscathed and hope you don't get another in your lifetime. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Great quality CCTV footage of a terrifying event. I suppose the footage would have been most helpful when putting in an insurance claim for the value of your garden furniture. The mighty gust of wind (8:30) that totally trashed all the garden furniture, and flung that heavy wooden table like a toy, must have been about 120mph. I was pleased that the big pine tree 🌲 stood up to that punishment.
Totally insane . Looks exactly like the band's of a hurricane coming through . We had a hurricane here in NC , the week before this happened Iowa, weird timing also . Thanks for the video , sorry for the destruction and loss I'm sure you had. Hopefully everyone came outta it healthy and not a scratch .
We are all ok...pretty she'll struck One young couple lost their home...not having any idea what their future holds. Neighbors gather in our garage/drive way for coffee, rolls, lite lunch, and wonderful social gatherings and evening meal contributed by all. Such a heartwarming experience to ease our stresses. So many trees were lost that will take forever to get rid of and they have taken so many years to grow....hence no more shade. Iowa strong!!!! Love to all....
Man, that firepit is a trooper! Thought for sure it would have flipped with the patio set. Sidenote: this is why patio tables should be stored upside down, the benches and tables in the background didn't move once they flipped over. Might get a little dirty, but there's little chance of it hitting your house. EDIT: just occurred to me that it may be a cast iron fire pit or bolted to the ground. My mother has one of a similar size but made of thin, lightweight metal that gets flipped over in a stiff enough breeze when empty.
What a lovely, leafy and cozy little backyard. Sorry it got tossed like that and I hope you were able to get things sorted. Where we live (Hawaii) trees grow pretty quickly, but I know that in the midwest, it really hurts to lose a nice tree and takes a long time to be replaced. Thanks for sharing.
I was visiting Cedar Rapids from Colorado when this happened!! I lived in Florida several years and experienced hurricanes and this was just as crazy!!
I'm originally from Michigan and have experienced tornados but never one of these. Im in washington state now and we did have a storm come through with 70mph winds
I went back and watched the garbage cans. The first guy zipped around the corner and slammed the gate shut but the smaller blue can just rolled on its side out the gate when it opened again saying “ I ain’t goin ta be the last to leave this party”. Hope everything found it’s way back home later. 🧐
Good heavens I hope you all are okay!! I kept expecting that tree in the top center to go crashing over. I'm assuming the round patio table is wrought iron but how in the heck did the table cover not go flying all the way to Chicago? Were you able to find your belongings? Also, lovely back yard setting. Thanks for sharing with us.
interesting to note, not a single tree, shrub or branch down, also missing the flying shingles, wondering if your backyard is pretty protected?? Lost all my trees but one in front, multiple(all) lilacs uprooted and evergreen shrubs as well...privacy fence gone too
Did the broadcast system not give enough time to put all your things in the garage or house? In FL - if there is ANY chance of high winds - many folks are putting all ornamental or furniture and garbage cans inside - since these could become projectiles. Great Camera btw!
I think that this was in late afternoon when most people were still at work. I've heard a lot of people say that it happened so fast that no one had any warning.
Did anyone else notice the person walking at the top of the screen at the beginning. 0.50 They just walked along then back again after the red lights disappeared
I didn't even see that at first - it's only visible in the first 44 seconds of the video, then it disappears when the electricity goes off. I also am surprised to see it, but certainly there is no shrine involved - the torii must just be there as decoration.
I just finished watching your video lol, did your husband make it home okay? I'm glad the storm helped with your tree issue lol 😂 In all seriousness this has to be the scariest thing, I pray everyone is okay!!
@@K_A_R749 yes. He made it home ok and we luckily had minimal damage. Although, some of our neighbors lost their entire homes. I am so glad it's behind us!
I never heard of stormes like this till i started watching after i saw one video on the topic, looks like the outer bands of a hurricane and equally as severe the sounds of the wind is frightening. These are just awful
Not to fast, ours in Benton County lasted a good 40 minutes.. I lost a few big trees, but I left what was good up, trees got a good pruning that lll say 😳
@@shonnamay8331 sorry for replying after 2 years but dang I feel bad for you and the people that got hit with this. The reason it lasted so long is because the comma head kept recycling over you prolonging the winds an additional 30 mins to an hour.

4:40 Watchiing that trashcan run out of there through the fence was hysterical. He even closed the gate behind him 🤣🤣
Ikr!
Trash can: “I’m not sticking around for this!”
Gate: “Ok, bye. I’ll close myself for you.”
How do you know that trash can was a he, what if it was a she trash can? LOL
It was also nice of the BBQ to give the little chair his coat.
Wish there were more full videos! It’s really interesting hearing the sirens go off before the storm rolls in.
These have been showing up in my feed lately. What a freaking day. I hope you all got away somewhat unscathed and hope you don't get another in your lifetime. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
i love how the trash cans all left, just like they were under their own power and going for an afternoon stroll, LOL!!!
lol they just took a left hand turn around the house and shut the gate. lol
the black one is on the driveway cam
Lmfao
Yep
@@christofour217 lmfao
WOW! That wheeled garbage bin at about 4:43 said peace out.....I'll even close the gate lol.
I am dying at the first trash can lmaooo it just dipped out like " F this! "
he went into the driveway...it on the other vid
and the round table with the cover in the middle is the winner!
I believe that's a fire pit.

Kind of off topic, but what security camera is this? The quality is on-point! 👌🏻
I want to know what kind of grill that is lol
It's one they mounted out in the open weather foolishly.
@@rossbrumby1957 There are several home surveillance cameras designed for indoor/outdoor use on the market. Maybe not 125+ mph winds, though...

That was nice of the storm to take the trash can to the curb
Duncan Smith And closes the gate after taking it out too! 10/10

The storm's moving the playhouse too!
Yes
The trash bin is the star of part 3 - driveway cam!
The one can was like " I'M OUT!! YOU CAN STAY IF YOU WANT..."
4:42 the barrel was like IM OUT
I went back and watched the garbage cans. The first guy zipped around the corner and slammed the gate shut but the smaller blue can just rolled on its side out the gate when it opened again saying “ I ain’t goin ta be the last to leave this party”.
Hope everything found it’s way back home later. 🧐
Chairs got up the wall once then...fk that, bailed back to lower level, bins are hilarious. The "Trashcan Family" LOL,
It's like a crash test dummy site where you find out what will last the longest during the storm. Prayers out to all.
Okay I must say 4:44 that is the first time I've ever seen the garbage take itself out!🤣
Trash bin: F this s I'm out
Wheelie bin: "I'm gettin the hell outta here!" - leaves and slams gate shut behind it!
Everybody gangsta until the garbage bins start leaving backyard.

Sht
One tree in the far background (middle left) went down and is on some sort of structure.
I want to know what that low, round table is made of?? Whatever it is, I want it….🐝🤗❤️
What is the name of your security camera? It really held in there. Nice back yard design.
Will the rain and the wind doesn't feel so good
Trash can was like "I'll shut the gate on the way out" 4:40.

I get the feeling nobody was home while this was going on, although of course I have no idea if that's true.

Good thing you had that retaining wall it kept all your stuff in one place and not down the street
Did anyone else notice the person walking at the top of the screen at the beginning. 0.50 They just walked along then back again after the red lights disappeared
Anyone else see that bright yellow Beam flash in the beginning of this vid?
Electricity going off and on and off again.
Surprised to see a shinto torii in Iowa! Do your neighbours have a shinto shrine in their backyard?
I didn't even see that at first - it's only visible in the first 44 seconds of the video, then it disappears when the electricity goes off. I also am surprised to see it, but certainly there is no shrine involved - the torii must just be there as decoration.
Can't quite tell. But that looks like a dead pine tree standing there. Impressive that these winds didn't take it down. Must have deep strong roots
Probably dead
I went back and watched the worst of it starting at 8:20 in total slow motion. Wow!
Tarps covering the backyard furniture didn't do much good, did it?
You were fortunate to not have gotten the 140 mph winds.. Good video.. 🤗
Oh my gosh From the wind that hard thing does hit the camera!!!!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊
"What":is that clicking noise?
I think its the wind plus the rain hitting the microphone
Ifk
Idk
Yo I would be out there with a cape on trying to fly like Superman.
we are just chilling in cedar rapids

Nice yard
4:43 bin: bye bye
Feel bad for damaged hope you have insurance
Cool move @18.56 where the cushion rolls over on top of baby trashcan (orange) then a chair rests on top LOL....got to look after the youngsters.
Awwwww
No storm here, just an ordinary poltergeist. Seen one, seen em all.
Oh well...so much for Aunt Zelda's backyard bake sale tomorrow!

Funny how the garbage can moves through the gate like it has a mind of it's own.
That poor playhouse, fighting to keep it's position. Loses it's battle when the leaf sticks on the camera.
Lol
amazing how the bbq survived

It's a grill. Barbecue is something you can make on a grill.
