Watching this in 2021 feels so bittersweet. I remember being so excited for Reforged..... simpler times indeed. I miss when Activision wasn't involved with Blizzard.
*EDIT* 4/29/2020 Boy this video has not aged well.... Yes Milord? Yes Milord! Enjoy the video? Drop a comment and let me know what you think of Blizzard as a company and their games!
The Act Man Blizzard has many I C O N I C games especially StarCraft and World Of Warcraft I adore those games very much (along with the original trilogy of Halo and ODST and Reach of course!)
The Act Man. Blizzard put love and detail to their games and they dont rush their games unlike many other devs. When Blizzard and also Bethesda release something you can always count that they are quality products.
All of their games have been quality games, and extremely popular, even if you don't agree with the vid, you can't deny that. Blizzard is mostly known for PC games, so negativity coming from Halo fans isn't surprising.
Braden Lail I really don’t like subscription games but for the short time I tried out WoW I loved it. I played as an undead warlock and the atmosphere of those few beginning areas was delicious af. Maybe someday I’ll pick up where I left off lol
The nostalgia hit like a frieght train when the Starcraft 1 music started playing. Say what you want about their games, but they know exactly how to inspire any emotion at any time. Nostalgia, rage, tranquility, happiness. From Warcraft to Diablo, they have the ability to inspire a multitude of emotions and they do it nearly perfectly.
Unfortunately it seems like you have a lot of console pleb fans, Act Man. I'm really amazed at the number of idiots claiming Blizzard games are bad or not that great. I am personally not a fan of most of their games but I acknowledge they are all well polished, well optimized for most PCs, and usually very well balanced and have wide skill gaps while still being accessible. That makes their games great, period. There's almost no debating this. Almost every other game dev out there which has been around for 30 years has made a few missteps. Blizzard has only made a couple and immediately got to work fixing them with great post-launch support.
I've been a Blizzard fan since Starcraft. And it's good to see a company like Blizzard grow into a juggernaut. They were already a juggernaut in the old Starcraft days, but Warcraft 3 and WoW took them even further. I suppose they're one of the few pillars of excellence in the old gaming world.
Once upon a time this video was truly one of the finest, if not _the_ finest of wines, but unbeknownst to all the previously benevolent microbes, once responsible for producing the delectable range of flavours present in this delicacy, had given in to temptation and begun feeding on the very flavor compounds in the wine itself. At first those lucky enough to be allowed to sample the wine noted a slight, but not unwelcome tartness, offering a marked increase in the depth of flavours present in each sip. But it wasn't long before more and more visitors began to dislike the now very much acidic taste of the wine, suspecting the microbes had started feeding on the delicious flavor compounds, the winemaker quickly sealed the casks, preventing fresh oxygen from diffusing into the wine. But unbeknownst to the winemaker, once begun the acidification process cannot be reversed, nor stopped. To make matters even worse the decomposition of wine into acetic acid is in fact only accelerated by depriving the wine of oxygen, because this basically forces the microbes to eat the wine itself just to stay alive, ensuring the barrel, yes the _entire_ barrel, will be turned into acetic acid. And so it is that with the passing years this once exquisite wine and incredible delicacy has, not unlike a carton of delicious milk forgotten on the counter, degenerated into nothing more than vinegar. Granted, it is very likely to be one of the world's finest vinegars, but it is a vinegar nevertheless.
I’ve really getting into Blizzards older games like Warcraft 2 the dark saga and Diablo. The passion is all there and it really makes me glad I played them. Still playing them as we speak lol.
I got into Starcraft at the beginning of quarantine, specifically Starcraft 64 (because I don’t want to give current Blizzard money). Still playing it to this day and haven’t stopped being a fan of the franchise. The lore really did it for me and the fact I was getting into RTS’s at the beginning of quarantine.
Well this didn't age well, did it... But everything you talked about that was the reason why Blizz used to be so good is now gone, as you've mentioned in the other video.
My story with blizzard is one of those nostalgic moments of my life. I used to play starcraft original a LOT, and i loved the cutscenes and, as you said, the campaign creator (StarEdit). I learned how to use locations and triggers to create maps and it really helped to build that creativity and my love for programming. I started playing brood war online and started creating UMS maps for the community and my clan (Bounds, RPGs, Golems and sometimes put hours on things just to play with my friends). Back to the point, my old starcraft cd had a diablo promo trailer, so i downloaded (sorry blizz) diablo 1 and starting loving diablo too. Then, years later, i had in my hands Warcraft 3, and started playing a lot of custom games too. I used to think a lot of "would thrall defeat zeratul?" and "would zerg defeat undead?" and things like that, so when HOTS came out it just blew my mind. I don't play HOTS anymore mostly because i don't have time to play games anymore, but i still play brood war and watch the online tournament (like the ASL, its in its finals now! you should watch it!). Im still friend with my old brood war clanmates, and i even learned english thanks to the servers (sorry for the typos tho, its not that perfect). I owe a lot to blizzard, so when sc 2 came out i bought every game just as a spiritual thanks for all the hours i wasted on their games. Thanks to your video! Blizzard is really a well crafted company, as well as your videos.
You sir deserve a sub great commentary analysis and well you got voice that doesnt put me into sleep and dont do stupid effects that made my eyes hurt with smooth transitions I mean if you keep this quality I think you will be as successful as blizzard just do what they do and dedicate to this
Ok wise guy, what's the big deal? Why you gotta harp on Destiny, when I specifically TOLD YOU, that it was on sale, no need to "monitor your bank account." You made fun of a game I like, which means you made fun of ME! But in all seriousness, good video man! I wasn't expecting to get much out of it since I'm not really too into blizzards games, I played Starcraft growing up and I dabble in overwatch every once in a while, but thats it. I stayed all the way through to the end and was entertained throughout! Also, I like you're little edit you did there at 1:00 with the title cards... reminds me of something of yours you did a little while back... A little H6 prediction video to be specific ;)
I'm a big fan of Blizzard too, although my love for them started to get a little colder over the last 5-10 years due to some of their business decisions... I still enjoy playing their stuff, mind you. But my real and everlasting gaming love is id Software :P
@The Act Man You talked about servers not being taken down. Would just like to add the fact that even to this day, the bnet server from Warcraft II (2) is still on and playable. :)
Blizzard dominates the rts, fps, ccg, and mmo genres. Hearthstone has no competition, magic would be closest and it is just now starting to get a digital system started. Starcrafts only competition for the last 20 years has been Warcraft. WoW has never seen legitimate competition. Overwatch took over the entire PC side of fps's when it came out and still holds that reign. If they were smart and licensed Dota and hired it's creators instead of whatever they did in WC3, then we wouldn't even be talking about anything else in Mobas. Edit: oh yeah and Diablo defined an entire genre. So there's always that too.
I somewhat disagree respectfully, so I'll put it simply. Hearthstone kinda competes with both Magic and Gwent. WoW at first (in my eyes) competed with Everquest. Overwatch strongly competes with CS:GO, TF2, and Paladins, as well as some others, so it's technically not at the top of PC shooters. The thing about Dota is, I don't get what point you're trying to make with that. But Diablo, however, I completely agree with you on that one.
UntoAGod the thing is that neither gwent nor magic hold a candle to hearthstone, also overwatch only actually competes with cs go since both paladins and tf2 are pretty much irrelevant at this point.
Define why you think those two are irrelevant. Last I checked a huge load of people still play them as well as make huge arguments and comparisons to other hero shooters, same with Overwatch.
What you said in this video is exactly what i've been feeling for years about their games. They are the only company that has made me play their games over and over and over again over the years. I hardly pass any year without a new playthrough on diablo or starcraft, a new try on WoW for a few months, heck i play overwatch daily since launch. If there's one company I absolutely love throwing my money at.... its them. Jeff is my daddy
There's also their release date, keeping good secrets, and so on. They test play the hell out of their games and make sure that everything goes well before they release it. I didn't even know that they were making Overwatch as early as 2013.
I just started playing Blizzard games recently... and holy crap. Every single one is so fun, I feel like I have just been gaming wrong my whole life. I've always had such a backlog on Steam, and at this point I can't even bother to pick any of those games up again at the moment because they all just pale in comparison to the moment to moment enjoyment and engagement I seem to get out of every single dang Blizzard game I have played.
They take time and care in their games. A rarity in a world where Ubisoft pumps out several titles a year. "It's done when it's done, and if its not fun when it's done, then its not done." is the motto. I respect them for handling microtransactions generally well. Great video.
I feel like they defined the “pretty good quality” level of games. They’re not the best, if we’re going by statistical data and ratings, but they’re never EVER bad. And they’re certainly above average. Game devs should strive to make quality that’s on par or above what Blizzard can do - That way even if they fall short, they’ll still have made an amazing game... hopefully.
Just an update, we didn’t really know why blizzard shut down nostalrious until recently. Blizzard was working with them and are launching legacy servers with that code.
I find my experience with Platinum Games to be pretty similar with the exceptions of variety and expansions, which is a shame seeing how when they make a game that’s not a hack ‘n slash they’re usually pretty good (especially Vanquish).
lost vikings was one of my favorite games of its time. i squeed when i met them back in vanilla wow, and got a good laugh out of the arcade machine in wings of liberty
I didn't care much for Blizzard games for a long time because I played mostly on a console through out my childhood, then Overwatch was announced and I liked everything about it. After awhile of playing their game (and Heroes of the Storm) I can sympathise why people love their games, they are just full of vabriant worlds and characters from different elements well placed together, it's just full of color you can't help but love it in the end.
As somebody who has been playing WoW since 2004, I’m a little biased and LOVE Blizzard. They don’t make games for money but instead do it out of passion, and everyone working there has passion too. That’s what I love about Blizzard.
One of the first games I ever played was WoW, since then I've played every blizzard game and loved each one (though I won't be going back and playing Warcraft 1 or 2) still waiting for a RocknRoll racing sequel
Warcraft 3 is by far my favourite game of all time, followed by WoW (even if WoD was dissapointing to the point I didn't even feel like coming back for legion). But Wc3 just means so much to me, and I've had so many different experiences playing it, I just can't describe it.
Act Man The only real problem with Blizzard I have is the fact that you can't play StarCraft 2 offline without an Battle.net account. StarCraft is my go to RTS when I don't play Dungeon Keeper 2. StarCraft 1 allowed you to play campaign offline.
I absolutely love Blizzard, and am working to be an animator for the company (specifically on WoW). I will say that I didn't actually know Blizzard for a good long part of my life, and sadly my first game that I played was Diablo 3 on the consoles. I did like the game, heck I've sunk hundred of hours into it, but WoW stood out the most for me and I was instantly sold when I went into Azuremyst Isle. That also got me to look at Starcraft, as well as the old Warcraft games. In short, I absolutely love Blizzard mainly because I got my PC gaming start from them, and their games are amazing.
lol I actually didn’t start playing Blizzard games until around 2013. I always played games in the wii or PlayStation 2. I got into Blizzard through a demo of Diablo 3 and I really liked it. Then I saw that I could try World of Warcraft for free and I did. I loved it so much that I played Starcraft 2 afterwards and then went and got Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 1. Honestly I’ve put more hours into WoW and Diablo 3 than any of the other titles. But they all just feel really good to play.
lol no I haven’t. I honestly want to though. I feel like the quality is very good. There is always something to do in the games. Plus I never really experienced any game breaking bugs. I know that Diablo 3 has an issue at launch but I started it on console so those bugs had been patched by the looks of it
There is a reason I own nearly all blizzard games, I don't know if Diablo is still you're jam but it updated with Reaper of Souls and is pretty awesome.
blizzard was dead to me when they released starcraft 2 and dropped the gritty realistic sci-fi for over the top fantasy bullshit and completely ignoring their own continuity to make a game that is essentially just a love story that completely wrecks brood war's ballsy ending
Act Man a couple years later:
*Blizzard is Awful*
Just shows how fast the tables have turned.
And they did it all to themselves. Hate to see it.
@@darthplagueisthewise2157 Half a year later: *Blizzard is even worse*

A sad example how Blizzard and many great developers transformed for the worse.

Boy, how things changed in the past 2 years...
I know that Diablo 3 has an issue at launch but I started it on console so those bugs had been patched by the looks of it
lol that’s actually why I love the games. They seem to grip me all the way though. Legion so far has been my favorite, including Argus.
lol sure. I just sent you my btag
Blizzard. Jack of all trades: Master of everything
Just remember that it's *Activision Blizzard* now, with all that entails.
0:02 *Here we see an Act Man in its natural habitat.*
There is a reason I own nearly all blizzard games, I don't know if Diablo is still you're jam but it updated with Reaper of Souls and is pretty awesome.
Blizzard knows how to create and how to use it the right way, also u playing at the start cracked me up lmao
blizzard was dead to me when they released starcraft 2 and dropped the gritty realistic sci-fi for over the top fantasy bullshit and completely ignoring their own continuity to make a game that is essentially just a love story that completely wrecks brood war's ballsy ending
This doesn't really have anything to do with the current video, but how do you think the Xbox One X is going to affect the Halo 5 experience?
Overwacth got me into Blizzard, such a cool game. whats your main, Act Man?
UltimateArbiter117 I'm a Zen main and I agree Overwatch got me into Blizzard as well
Monarch Titan dva
I would love to see Blizard make a historical ww2 shooter and destroy EA and Activision
Once he mentioned Jack of Blades I had a shiver from the amount of time I put into fable and Blizzard games when I was young
P.S still got Warcraft 1
I play Fable TLC every now and then and I still play Warcraft 2
