I worked at a Wendy's. We had some kids come through the drive thru on foot and I explained they needed a vehicle. They stole 2 grocery carts and came back and I accepted their effort

As a former drivethru worker: We’re not allowed to serve people in the drive through in anything but a car/van and sometimes motorbikes (depends on the manager) because of the insurance, if you get hurt in the drive thru there’s no protection for the company. Note: I worked at a McDonalds in the UK so I might not be right for other places and companies.
Same here in the US. Motorbikes are mostly allowed though. Pedestrians in the same lane as a motorized vehicle is just asking for trouble.
at my location (in the USA), we didn’t care LOL
I work at McDonald’s in canada and we are the same it’s for safety the only time we let people walk up is if they call and ask or if they have a big vehicle like a semi or a moving trailer that can’t fit threw the drive threw

If you are being served by the drive through crew, and an actual car pulls in and injures you, the restaurant could potentially be held liable in legal action. It is a massive liability issue to serve walk up customers in a drive through window. Companies have explicit policies for crew to not serve those potential customers.
In our local Mcdonalds you can order from the drive-through but only after the restaurant is closed
@@FuriosHobbitGaming As someone who has a long time ago managed at a McDonald's, they are absolutely violating policy. If you were to be injured doing this, heads in that location will roll.
More places need outdoor walk-up options for this reason

My conflict is that you can absolutely use an ATM as a walkup, Even when it's meant to be a drive thru. I guess because it isn't a human serving you? That said, Sonic has always had a ordering station for those on foot, why can't other fast food restaurants do that?

Gonna be real, if I had to pick on things for McDonald’s to bring back, it would either be the snack wraps or the popcorn chicken, both of those were really good and I low key miss them
People trashed that Big Mac wrap, but I always thought it was good option. If I was going somewhere for dinner and didn't want a big lunch. Grab a couple of those and you didn't have all that bread!

Huy Fong didn't invent Sriracha. It was invented in Thailand by Thanom Chakkapak. Huy Fong made it a thing in the US. Rooster sriracha used to be something only found in Vietnamese restaurants, and it was like 5x hotter, because it was made with serranos.

I went to a community college in a tiny town in nowhere wyoming and while i am not a taco bell fan i did regularly ride my bike through the mcdonalds drive through to grab a fast meal on my way to school now and then.
They allowed bicycles but not pedestrians because of the real risk that a person on foot might not be even perceived/seen by someone in a car or truck.
Even just working at that mcds for a summer taking out the trash could be hazardous as cars in the drive through always had super distracted drivers.
oh and this was BEFORE smart phones were a thing.
What these fast food places need is a walk up order window, especially in the age of covid and with taco bell being open so late they cater to the late night drunks.
Our local Cookout locations, which are also open late, all have walk up order windows. (To be fair, that's essentially instead of a dining area)
My fast food joints in St Louis, Missouri, USA won't serve bicycles in the drive thru.

Shoutout to Josh for having read The Bretheren! I actually have that book! And I read it.
The plot is about three former Judges (federal if I remember right) who ended up in prison, and started a scam where they would send out letters pretending to be young/teenage boys. The idea was they'd catch pedos that were in positions of power, learn about them and whatnot, and then once they had enough evidence they'd blackmail them into giving them money and whatnot. Turns out, if I remember right [been a few years] they end up catching [I think...] the President of the United States in the scam, and use that to get themselves both out of the federal pen, and a few million dollars.
There's more to it than that, but it's a good book.

I used to get some of their specialty chicken sandwiches and they were actually really good! The guacamole one was my go-to order for a while and I was so sad when they stopped selling them!

At the Starbucks I worked at, no walk thrus at the drive thru because management was worried they would try to come through the window and hold us up. Evidently it has happened enough that there are rules. Insurance too.

When I was in fourth grade, we had mandatory book reports from the books the teacher chose. She chose a book called Forged by Fire. It was about a boy whose mom was a drug addict & hooked up with this dude who abused them. The book ended, spoilers, with a fire. The stepdad was trying to molest his minor daughter while she was cooking his food & he ended up dying. I always thought it was terribly adult for a fourth grade class. Then she had us do the sequel, Tears of a Tiger. A basketball star at their high school ends up dying cause they were drinking underage & they hit a wall & the car burst into flames & he dies. The book is about dealing with grief & loss as a kid. It was very confusing as a 10yo.

I've been binge-watching all of Mythical Kitchen this past week and this made me remember the Island Fire Burger from Sonic several years ago. It was spicy with a hint of sweetness and soooo delicious. I miss that thing.
I didnt know that was ever a thing! Anytime I reheat left over Mcdoubles I add sriracha to it to improve the flavor! I never tried putting it on a fresh McDonalds burger but I use it alot when I make acctual burgers!
