Former Domino's employee here: at least in the years I worked there, the bread bowls were shaped out of the same dough as the small pizzas, not the pan pizzas. We would stretch out the center while simultaneously scrunching up the edges to form the "bowl" shape. After filling the bread bowl with all the noodles and toppings, it was cooked and then the outside of the bowl was covered in a garlic-butter oil (the exact same stuff that still goes on all pizza crusts today).
Current employee: it’s still done using small dough patties they were misinformed but when corporate trained me I was told to essentially punch the center to flatten it and it simultaneously pushes the rest to the side and the scrunch and the rest is how you said it
I didn't work at a Dominos in 2009, but I did in 2020, and they didn't precook the bowls before the pasta. They just put the pasta on top of the raw dough and the weight of the pasta in the middle caused the dough to rise around it. Same principle of why the crust rises around the pizza toppings when you bake it.
Well, i worked at Dominos many MANY moons ago and actually the reason the bread rises on the edges is because of the way the dough is formed. You had to do it a very specific way. I actually had to go to "Dominos sunday school" before shifts were some overly happy dude from HQ came to educate us on the dough and proper saucing and cheesing technique. We even had to practice picking up exactly x grams of mushrooms in one go, with a scale present. We got tests and everything. It was weird.
@@RikFTK The way you say that someone came from HQ to teach you makes me think you worked at Dominos Corporate. Domino's uses their regular pizza dough to make the bread bowls. It's just a small pizza dough ball stretched into the bread bowl shape. He checked for firmness & color, to make sure that it was uniform, that the churning was done well.
As someone who currently works at dominos: Getting a pasta tin means you get more pasta and more toppings, the bowl takes up a lot of the space that pasta would get. (I always try to be generous about it though personally) We use a small pizza dough ball for the pasta bowl, what I do is press my fist into the middle of the dough ball and then touch it up, when stretching, pizza crust should be pencil thin, while the crust of the bread bowl is more like an expo marker width when stretching. The garlic sauce cups are different from the garlic oil the bread bowls get, also, it doesn't get brushed. It's in a sauce bottle and we just put it on at the end, by the time the food gets picked up or sent on delivery, spreads out on it's own to look brushed. If your building your own pasta on the website or something, I suggest not going over 2 toppings in the pasta, as the more you add, the less of each thing you get.
i like how josh always show us hows to make it, as if we will. as if we will wake up 1 day and say you know what i feel like for tea today, Dominos mac and cheese break bowl, and for breakfast i want McDonalds steak sandwich from 40 years ago... when i didnt exist
As a former dominos employee who made a lot of bread bowls, definitely some inaccuracies here. The bread bowls weren't made with pan pizza dough, they were literally just small regular pizza dough balls. The domino's pan pizza dough they have now didn't exist until like 2012 or 2013. Also they didn't put them in pizza boxes, there was a specific made pasta box. Also they don't have semolina on the bottom of pizzas, it's just straight cornmeal
Dominos took their pizza dough (small), which is kind of just a ball of dough (dry, no oil like you have), put it in the corn meal/flour mix, and stretched just the inside of the dough to be real thin. Put the pasta/sauce/cheese/toppings on top of the raw dough and it all went into the oven at once. At the end, finish with the garlic oil
I had the mac & cheese bread bowl ONCE when Domino's offered it, and I do not remember it being nearly as messy a meal as Josh and Trevor have shown us today. You two are just savages XD
As someone who worked at dominos for 7 years, we don’t use Pan dough for bread bowls we use small dough tossed in cornmeal just slightly different then a pizza
Here's a tip for stand mixers. It may not work for all kinds and try this at your own peril, but you can detach the hook from the slot and let it drop and still fit loosely in there so it touches the bottom of the bowl and you can still operate it. Mine's slot doesn't go around in a circle like Josh's and just spins centrally so maybe that's better suited for it? I don't do this at max speed but it does work for me to get all the stuff that normally sticks to the sides and refuses to combine.
I feel like we are getting closer and closer to a Mythical Time Capsule part 1 episode that will have a follow up when it's deemed necessary. No specific time. Just, when the team feels it's time.
Day 4 of asking the Mythical Kitchen to make Lay's Barbecue Chips flavored Coca-Cola! I made a BBQ sauce using Coca-Cola, and the flavors go really nice together.
I wonder what a Dr Pepper barbecue sauce would taste like, I’m a huge fan of Dr Pepper and sweet barbecue sauce so I would love to see the two combined
I look at these vids and think, Josh is a crazy man who likes playing with food and fire, then I watch other videos and realize he is actually a super talented chef, he just works at mythical.
Current employee, I didnt work there during this but bread bowls are just small pizza dough not pan dough and I can garentee the “three” cheese Mac was Alfredo sauce and our cheddar mix then tossed in the oven. Also the mix is just cheddar and mozzarella which we count as two. And on the current 6 cheese Wisconsin it counts as two as well as “parm/ Asiago” mix.
I worked at Domino's for several years. The bread bowl is just a regular small hand-tossed pizza dough, but instead of being stretched to ten inches it gets stretched to seven inches with a a more taller crust edge and then the penne is just tossed in (with the dough still raw) and gets covered with the sauce and toppings before baking it all together. The crust is then drizzled with garlic and herb "butter flavored oil". Also, there is no semolina on Domino's dough. Domino's just tosses their dough in yellow corn meal instead of flour (to avoid it sticking to your hands and surfaces) and when it's baked you get grainy bits of corn meal that seem like semolina.
I love how people still question the weird ways Josh eats food. We've seen solid proof he's a weirdo I don't know why people still are like no you don't
Their is something similar in Australia atm in 2024 called the Cheese Volcano. They say it’s “cob loaf inspired.” Watching this video about the bread bowl now makes it seem like a reimagined old product. ❤✌🏽😊
The best thing about this video is Josh speaking about how Tiktok is ruining children’s self-view. Also, having worked at dominoes, the sauce and pasta gets cooked with the bread bowl. It all gets cooks at the same time so some of the pasta over cooks and becomes hard while others are sponge like.

The next: Intense screaming
"It eats like a soup" sent me into orbit 😅
Here's a tip for stand mixers. It may not work for all kinds and try this at your own peril, but you can detach the hook from the slot and let it drop and still fit loosely in there so it touches the bottom of the bowl and you can still operate it. Mine's slot doesn't go around in a circle like Josh's and just spins centrally so maybe that's better suited for it? I don't do this at max speed but it does work for me to get all the stuff that normally sticks to the sides and refuses to combine.
bro i've never been this early and i'm so excited 😭
Respect
Same
So
I used to LOVE these. It get one and then eat it for like 3 meals straight. They were soo good!
The 4th kind is one of 2 horror movies that have legitimately scared me.
And yet, Panera can do this almost flawlessly. Also, does anyone else remember when Little Caesars had a play area like chuck e cheese?
Josh pronounced Gloucester Massachusetts perfectly. -your cousin, from Boston
I feel like we are getting closer and closer to a Mythical Time Capsule part 1 episode that will have a follow up when it's deemed necessary. No specific time. Just, when the team feels it's time.
Josh says 'bread bowl' so fast it sounded like 'Red Bull". It was confusing because I'm only listening.
The next fastfood mashup is gonna be Mac N Cheese Red Bull.
Its normal MC but the pasta is made in redbull, and the cheese sauce has redbull in it.
@@DismemberTheAlamo I’m just picturing Josh making KD but instead of boiling the noodles in water, it’s Red Bull
@@DismemberTheAlamo now I want to see that
Josh is such a trigger for my cleaning compulsion. And poor Trevor. Watching his corruption by the Jash in real time…love y’all.
He's kinda always been this way. He has a cookbook that came out years before he started at Mythical, and it is still very much this.
i absolutely love the chemistry between josh and Trevor, but theirs no way there not stoned XD
I made it within 13 minutes after you posted this. Yay! Oh josh my fiance and I want to thank you for the cooking advice
Totally still available in Kentucky. At least a few months ago when I devoured one. Alfredo sauce with spinach, mushroom, and feta ftw.
Shoutout to Josh for PC then immediately being fetishism wierdo about cold cuts
I found Trevor launching into an explanation and halfway through realizing he forgot everything and can't explain it to be very relatable
really glad gen z has good representation 😂 you make us proud, trevor (‘:
Dominos still serves pasta in a bread bowl. This isnt gone
whew, good to hear. not like i subject myself to such torture, but maybe one day.
It is gone in many places. They haven't had bread bowls at the ones where I live in years.
I'm really interested where the Slovakian reference came from 😃
Me too.
