Congratulations you are one of the few who got what the song was about. I laugh when I hear them say its about dancing. Even when this song came out alot did not get it. I would LMAO. I would tell them and they would just say OOOOHHHHH. They were the same people that couldn't last 8 minutes. 😆 🤣 😂
My dad told me what this songs about and I was like what? And then I heard it and it makes sense. Still a badass song! My ultimate favorite song. It will forever be my favorite. I actually know the bass part and I like to jam and play it every now and then. ❤️🔥🎤🎼✊🏻🎸🥁 Long Live Rock and Metal!
Yes. This real, serious, iconic classic rocker leaves no doubt what this band is singing about. This is real rock 'n' roll. So glad you're reacting to this kind of music. Thank you.
My ultimate favorite song. I can listen to this over and over and not get bored. It was the first song I learned on guitar. I still remember it. Song will forever be my favorite. Im a sucker for 70s hard rock. 😊👍🏻🎸🎤🥁✊🏻 Gotta love Foghat.
This is one of those songs that take me back to a specific memory. The summer I was 16 (many, many years ago), sitting on the hood of my boyfriend's '75 Camaro with my best friend, drinking California Coolers (we were breaking a few laws), watching the boys throw a Frisbee in their shorty shorts! Lol! I'm so happy that trend has never returned!
@@randycomerford2038 Yeah,Randy! I had a 76 Lt Camaro and a 77 Camaro street fighter. Friday nights were spent hunting 5liter Mustangs to beat up on! Lol
@@tilemonkee5510😂 Love it! Mustangs were so overrated!!😂 Ive always been a Camaro girl myself, & still say "Theres nothin like the sound, & feel, of a V8!!😁🙌🏼 Those were the BEST TIMES!!!🎉
Foghat was one of the biggest bands of the 1970's, but were almost gone by the mid-1980's. Saw a version, calling themselves The Kneetremblers, open for Aerosmith in 1984, pretty good but not what they were earlier. "Slow Ride", "Fool For The City" and "I Just Want To Make Love To You" were their biggest hits. All blues based rockers.
The core of Foghat was originally the Savoy Brown Blues Band. Savoy Brown with guitarist Kim Simmons went off in a separate direction. They had a moderate hit with their album Street Corner Talking that featured a banger single, Tell Mama
This brings back very happy memories of cruising around in my boyfriend (now husband) 1967 Ford Fairlane listening to this song on the 8 track player! Rock on!
This song always reminds me of the 1993 movie Dazed and Confused. Of course I knew this song since it came out but after that movie came out with a great sound track, you can't help think of the movie and this song plays at the end when they're riding in the Chevy Chevelle to go buy Aerosmith tickets. Top priority of the summer! Dazed and Confused is a must see movie. It's set in Texas in 1976. You will LOVE the movie and the soundtrack even more.
Takes me back when I started college in 75. Me and my two buddies driving to and from school. Slow Ride would come on the radio and we'd crank it up and rock out! Great memories!
🔥🔥🎶🎶 I saw them live on tour for this very album. “Fool for the City” is another banger by them. The opening song of the previous mentioned concert. ✌️😎
Thank you guys for playing that one today! I have not sat down and just listened to that with the headphones on all the way through in years. It is phenomenal, really enjoyed that. I agree with OG Mike that was fire!
😃I love this song! I listened to Foghat all the time back in my younger years, I even have the vinyl. One of my fav songs. Thanks for bringing back a good memory.😉
Per Songfacts: The album version of this song, which runs 8:14, has become a classic rock staple. While the "slow love" theme is common in R&B music where the tempo is more congruent with the lyrics, this is a rare rock song that pulls off the feat. The famous guitar riffs change speed and climax near the end, effectively simulating a lovemaking session.
I grew up listening to Foghat, and then in 93` I got to be their personal driver for one night. Really cool dudes! They treated me very good. I got to hang out and party with them in their hotel room, backstage and on the tour bus. I had a BLAST !!!
That was so fun watching you guys love this! Absolutely Slow Ride is a blast- a rocket- fireworks!!💥 I love that you didn’t interrupt it. That would be a crime. Songus interruptus!! 😊
Everytime I hear this song I remember getting up early to check the radio for snow closings for my daughters school. One of the vdot (Virginia department of transportation)snowplow drivers loved this song! He would always request this song to plow the roads!
Interesting back story on the choice of the album cover: The album cover shows drummer Roger Earl sitting alone on a soap box fishing down a manhole near 229 East 11th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue) in New York City, near the address of Foghat's American office. The back cover features skeptical bystanders observing Earl's unusual activity and the other members of the band either asking him what he is doing or trying to dissuade him from it. In a 2014 interview, Earl explained how the picture was taken: It was a Sunday morning and I hadn't slept. It was Nick Jameson's idea since I have this penchant for fishing. Anyway, we lift up the manhole cover and I'm sitting on a box. Almost immediately a couple of New York's Finest come by in their patrol car. They're looking at us and they wind the window down. We're like, "Oh shit." They yell out, "Hey! You got a fishing license?" and then start laughing. So they come over and say, "What the fuck are you doing?" They took some pictures with them handcuffing me. I love New York's Finest. - Roger Earl
