70’s Classic Rock just hits different. Not only was it a monster hit and played on heavy rotation in the 70’s. It’s still played today on Classic Rock Radio Stations. Great Reaction
Ya, but they didn't play this version. They played the radio version which was only 4 minutes. In the mid 70's this version wouldn't fly. The censored would have been all over it.
Great Foghat songs to listen to: "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "Fool for the City" , "Stone Blue", "Chevrolet". My husband saw them in a small bar in 1970 and he said people were throwing joints up on the stage and they'd just gather them up, fire them up, and it was a good time for all.
I agree we grew up during an evolution of Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal. For me it was muscle cars with them 8 track players and them amped up backseat window six by nine speakers. When you put in that Foghat tape and hit that powered speaker switch, you could hear Slow Ride several blocks away.
Foghat is balls to the wall quintessential rock and roll. Some of the best guitar work out of the 70s, imo. They blow the doors off in live performances. Foghat Live! is one of the best live albums you will hear.
This was not only played on the radio, it was a huge hit! I still remember the first time I ever heard it. I was at a since closed amusement park near me, called Paragon Park. I was a pre-teen getting ready to ride my first ever roller coaster. The operator of which, had this song cranked on his boom box. Now, every time I hear this song, it takes me right back there! 😃🎢

Dropping in ...just as I'm hearing (listening to it right now as I'm starting your video) Detroit Sex Machine 'The Stretch' (Meters-like) for the first time... The local FM radio station used to play it (Slow Ride) at 9pm each Friday night. This (long tune) gave him time to run down stairs, blow a joint, and grab the pizza he ordered. He'd get back on the air and be a bit 'discombobulated'....
Oh the story I could tell you about the first time I heard this right after it came out! This is a BANGER! Might need to explain that my story wasn't dirty. Carload of girls, and the fast part had us going crazy. We hit a line of cars stopped at a light. It was on the radio and we forgot where we were. Rocking out and crashed. Young and lost in this song...boom. Fractured my arm and busted my knees. The other drivers were fine. Just us young hellions hearing this for the first time. And "NO" I wasn't driving. I was crowded in the backseat. Ah the 70's!
Saw them in concert back in the 70's with about six other big bands of the time at a charity concert in San Diego, CA at the football stadium. Entrance fee was $1.01. Great memory. Wild day!
In the 70s I was a kid and I went with my older brother to visit his friend and this song was playing in his apartment and when I closed the door there was THIS huge album cover poster on the back of the door. Those days were some really good times.

Not only did they play it on the radio but this was the jam at skating rink!!!! 🛼🛼🛼🛼💕
This is what we in the 70's called 'Raunchy Rock'! I saw these dudes in concert more than any other band.
This song still rocks! It sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released. Too bad music today doesn’t measure up (no pun intended). Total banger (again, no pun intended) 🤣
I’ve heard this song over 40 years and never noticed all of the intricacies until listening with you. lol It was on the radio all the time back in the day, but it was a shorter radio cut.
They played this song a billion times on the radio in the last 47 years.
We didn't need no stink'n seatbelt's. They never would have worked with 10 of us in the back seat!
@@amrak5028 You are absolutely correct and our car was full. This song just made her feel the need for speed! 😂
Saw them in concert back in the 70's with about six other big bands of the time at a charity concert in San Diego, CA at the football stadium. Entrance fee was $1.01. Great memory. Wild day!
SO many banger songs in the ‘70’s! FOGHAT delivered many. It was a great time to be a teenager.
Thank you..thank you for reacting to this song!!!.
In the 70s I was a kid and I went with my older brother to visit his friend and this song was playing in his apartment and when I closed the door there was THIS huge album cover poster on the back of the door. Those days were some really good times.
93.9 KILO in Colorado Springs was where I first heard it. It was a couple years old by then as it was in 77 I believe. Love me some Foghat
The title track of the album should be next: "Fool For The City". I always loved the cover, and the idea of living in the city and fishing in a manhole!
