"Slow Ride" the final cut in the movie "Dazed and Confused", which has one of the best sound tracks ever!
Guys.. this is NOT about driving in a car! And the last long riff was the "climax" of his slow ride! My favorite Foghat song is "I Just Wanna Make Love To You!" And if you ever played Guitar Hero, this is the first song on there! ❤️🎼🎸✌️
Back in the 79's this was on my 8 Track in my van......boy does that take me back. Hope my wife isn't reading this.
The groove, the groove, the build.. the build... the Build... The BuilD.. THe BuilD.... THE BuILD.... .THE BUILD!... then the Climax!
Love that song "I just want make love," Slow Ride was also on the movie "Dazed & Confused."
Do you remember Climax Blues Band “ so into you” ? Same era, same feel, loved them both.
I think they clearly understood that. lol
Asia & BJ, their "Fool for the City" is next for you!! Another Banger!!
The bass guitar is where funk is born.
Lonesome Dave on vocals and rhythm guitar with Rod "The Bottle" Price on slide guitar....What a pair...RIP to both...!!!
Most people probably don't notice but the bass part in this is simply brilliant and drives the song. Talent is amazing.
That is the funk
Very underrated band.
Yup...one of the best bass lines ever.
I noticed! This song has been one of my favs for nearly 50 years. Even though I was too young to know it's meaning when it came out.
I notice, but I'm a bassist. And yes, it's absolute genius.
Absolutely great Classic Rock! I guess Asia and BJ figured out it wasn't a car driving song😂
😂😂
A lot of people sure have logged an awful lot of cruising miles with this blasting on the stereo, though. Ask me how I know, LOL.
U probably know this now but George Harrison was 1 of the Beatles!!!$!
More of a back seat driving song.
I'm going to show my age....I remember having Foghat on 8 track & playing the hell out of it! (Btw, 8 track came after vinyl & before cassettes...they didn't last very long)
I remember that as well, the good old days😀👍
I still have mine.
@@jeribrown9967 wish I would have kept mine but I didn't 😔
And then we got casettes...with all the wonderful oxide coatings...i cant even remember how many commercials of that....glass breaking....yep...loved casettes...arrrrghhh...eight miles of tape to pull out of your under dash mounted player....ha ha ha....remember so well
@@kevinmcinnis2453 so much fun trying to get that tape under control. I would have to use my pinkie finger in the cassette reel sprocket to get the tape back into cassette, it could be time consuming 😎
@Asia and BJ This was released in 1975. Seventies had some serious funk over all. It was folk crashing into the rock. Not about cars, clearly. Now this is also a traveling song. Top down, blasting this down the Pacific Hwy in California. Dolphins in the ocean on one side, rolling green meadows with cows grazing, on the other side. I just close my eyes and go there. One of the prettiest places in this country, rocking to great music.
Note… song used in Allstate commercial. BJ… no problem with talking with your hands. We Italians communicate best that way! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Was just about to tell them the same, wanted to see if someone else bet me to it. And you did😁
When I was in junior high, at a school dance, I asked a girl to dance to this. I had only heard the radio single. I didn't know they were playing the extended mix. Heh...She hung in there for the whole thing, but I was really running out of moves...
Hahahhahaha LOL
Lol!!!
Damn dude that's funny! Most white dudes have like 3 or 4 go-to moves. After that, we're improvising. And that's where things can get ugly...lol
@@brentbeardsley655 I think she even said something like: "You're a pretty good dancer"...Yeah, desperation will really up your game...
🤣🤣🤣
My very first concert at age 16. Now, I’m 60 and still loving Foghat!
Foghat and J Geils Band was my first concert back in January 1976, I’m now 62 😎
@@rodcopeland6945 😎
@Camaro Z28 SS nope
@Camaro Z28 SS I’ve never had the desire for anything like that.
my first concert back in 1976 Boston Holy Sheep Shit - Those Guitars and Vocals- sounded just like the Studio on Roids 60 Now
Notice how the song goes in and out of slow and faster rhythms until the big build up climax at the end. Slow ride, indeed. 😉
Now this is CLASSIC ROCK. Brings back a lot of memories hanging out, cruising, and "slow riding".
Everytime I hear this song, I think of the movie " Dazed and Confused " because this song was in it. Dudes getting high in the 70's. 🤣
Me too 😁
@@bethshadid2087 And actually getting high like them in real life lol.
@@ramondwilliam1307 🤫
Alright, Alright, Alright!
@@joannegoebel4642 I came to drink beer and fight...and I'm out of beer 😁
I'm digging BJ's shifty eyes as he realizes the "pace" is picking up ... #TeamBJ 😎
Oh man...and just like that, I am back in high school and madly in love! I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you guys enjoying the music of our generation! So much love!!!
That is awesome!
This is the song that got in to drums when I was in high school (I'm old)...still smashing them to this day...Peace!
No, this was mainstream rock back in the day. Straight from the album. And believe me, we picked up on it IMMEDIATELY. If you want to hear another one along the same lines with even hotter dueling guitars, listen to I Just Wanna Make Love To You.
It's a slide guitar. A total masterpiece of a song.
Even without the lyrics, the pacing and tempo of the music tells the whole story. The slow, but steady pace at the beginning, the slower breakdown to “rest”, the buildup and the release at the end and the ”Boom goes the dynamite” finale! Great song! Great reaction!
I saw these guys with a group called Mountain (Mississippi Queen) in 1981 or 82, awesome.
This is an iconic song that will be remembered for ever! One song that doesn't get any credit or play time but is worth listening to is Live now Pay later, real awesome groove song.
Mississippi Queen is a badass song! I remember it well! 70’s !🔥
Just checked the song out, and it is amazing, it sums up the whole o my life to a tee!!!!!! Thanks for the recomendation.
A VERY popular song in the 70's. I saw Foghat & The Police in 1981. Killer show. .Foghat is VERY underrated.I suggest their album FOOL FOR THE CITY. The name Foghat means you have a foggy head from some sweet leaf.
and their live album!!!!!
Foghat was fantastic live, they really rocked. Saw them multiple times in the late 70's. Lonesome Dave was a great front man
I don't remember: Dave was the main lead guitarist, but another guy sang most of the main lead vocals, huh? Is that right? And they had two guitarists?
@@jonathanlocke6404 Lonesome Dave Peverett was the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Rod Price was lead/slide guitarist
Sounds like my husband. He saw them multiple times in the 70s at the Aragon Ballroom on the Northside of Chicago! Terrific live!
Absolutely. Only saw them once around 1976. They were in the middle of a 6 band lineup warming up for BTO.
I still have my "FOG" hat that I bought at a concert in late "70s then wore it in late a '80s to a club they were performing at...Dave asked if he could wear it for this song.... signed it and gave it back.....
Their live version of I just want to make love to you is even better.
I was getting ready to sat that too. In total agreement with you
Agreed!
It’s the perfect song they used to end the film “Dazed & Confused”…awesome movie!
Slow ride from Chile, South America. A salute to you Asia and BJ. You are an inspirations for the lovers of the great music, specially the Rock!!!
🤘💥🤘💥🤘😎
Saw these guys at a corporate event back in 2011, and even in their 60's they shredded this song
Saw them in Kansas City on Halloween in 1974 or 1973 at Cowtown Ballroom , great show
Dude, what company do you work for and are they hiring?
Saw them do this live when it first came out. As you can imagine, it really hyped up the crowd. And they had fun doing it.
Check out "Fool For the City" & "I Just Want To Make Love To You". Foghat knew how to make music fun.💙☮
I drove a 1968 camaro in highschool and cranked FogHat - Live on 8 - track all the time. this song as well as a bunch of other great rock songs are part of the sound track for the movie " Dazed and Confused " a cult classic movie that is worth watching.
Foghat are one of my favorite bands. I saw them on 11-14-1974 in concert in Chattanooga, Tn. This was 5 days after my 14th birthday. This was the birthday present I askef for and my 1st concert experience. This is probably their most popular song. I love this song but it is usually their only song you hear on the radio. The two albums before this one,Fool for the City, contain really good 70s rockin, funky tunes. Try Step Outside, Dreamer, and Chateau L'efit '59 Boogie. These are some good examples of early 70s British rock.
HOLY MOLY! This song is the epitome of “Gettin’ it on”. It’s a great song. I remember when it came out. That was in the 70’s. Fast Forward to 1993. That’s when Richard Linklater’s “Dazed & Confused” hit the scene. You know, Matthew McConaughey’s first movie and where he coined the phrase “Alright, Alright, Alright”. So, this song was at the end. For me, it is a memory-placement song because I think about that movie when I hear it.
I love when the youngens' discover, love and feel the same way that I did when I heard it for the first time too 👍 Ain't RnR great? Bringing us all together... Masterpiece
Had this on 8-Track, Awesome song.
This band was crazy right he could sing forever and was one of the to bring slide guitar to the forefront in rock along with Johnny winter hes killing it and yes the bass player and musicians listened to everything great groove
Lots of great songs. Honey Hush, Fool For the City, My Babe, Third Time Lucky, Drivin Wheel, Home in My Hand, and Road Fever. They were all over the place from the mid 70’s to early 80’s. Just great blues rock.
Stone Blue is one of my all time favorite LPs.
@@sandraking7085 how did I forget that one!
This was and still is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!
Rod Price on lead guitar .... LEGENDARY !
Was fortunate enough to see Foghat in concert multiple times as a teenager in the 70s. Sooo many great bands and music. This was definitely a classic and blew up the FM radio stations playlist...had to turn it up. Had their albums on 8 track as well and blew it out on my car speakers back in the coaxial and triaxial days. Great memories.
The Bass is why you feel the funk. He's playing slap bass. And that guitar is slide guitar.
It's so funny how so many classic songs have moments where Asia breaks out laughing when she snaps to the meaning and gets the joke.
I remember sitting in my brother's clubhouse bothering him as usual. He was six years older than me so as a teenage that was probably the time he least wanted to be bothered but he always made time for me because of things going on at home. He introduced me to Foghat with this song. It's epic for sure and so are they!
Glad you got the right version... the long version of this song is killer! The radio edit is still good, but this version definitely builds to a conclusion!
That song builds to a major climax
It is a classic and heavily used throughout the years. But it definitely stands out on it's own.. it's badass
The 70s were bad ASS ,,,,, What you talking bout WILLIS LOL
Listen to the live version from "Foghat Live", it kicks serious ass, way more intense than the studio version. Growing up in the 70's, my favorite albums were live, Foghat Live, Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo, Rick Derringer Live, Kiss Alive, Frampton Comes Alive, Pat Travers Live Go For What You Know, to name a few. 😁
Foghat Live is one of the best live albums.
& Made in Japan, &
Strangers in the night, UFO 👽
The build up in the end from slow to fast then the explosion ending represents ummm you know, two people getting their freak on.
This song has that extra groovy bass line. It has been in a few movies.
Foghat was one of the biggest bands of the ‘70s. This is their biggest hits. They were known as a “boogie” band. They were a British blues based hard rock band that sounded very American. Their songs frequently turn up on Southern Rock compilations.
Foghat was one of the top live acts of the 1970's. Stadiums, Arenas, Big Theaters, they had it all, for a time. Then... .
I remember being an early teen walking through the midway at the state fair, with this song blasting. The ride operators asking me if I wanted to take a ride, looking at my mom, can I? She was like not right now honey. A few years later I did 😉☮️💜🤘
You're right! This is one of the masterpieces of rock!! Foghat is it!!
The late great Rod Price on lead slide guitar. He was one of the guitar Gods of the Classic Rock era!
The next place you should go with Foghat is the song, It Hurts Me Too. Great jam. Bluesy as hell and a great boogie. Love your reactions.
My very first live concert ever was Styx, Foghat, and Head East! Great getting to see all three at the same time.
This song, released in 1975, was played quite heavily on FM rock stations in 1975-76 in its entirety. A live version also had heavy rotation in 1978. A shortened version was played quite frequently in the late 80s on pop FM. The song still gets airplay today.
BJ got the “meaning” of this “Love” song pretty quickly. 😆 😆 Now, try to imagine “moving” slowly to that beat, with it speeding up to it’s “climax”! That’s the whole meaning behind the song! It’s a true “banger” song! 😂 😂 😂
My favorite classic rock band! You need to check out more Foghat! Any of the songs everyone suggested would be great!
They are an old blues based rock band from England. The man plays a Gibson SG, bottle neck slide all pumped thru 100 watt Marshall’s.
The absolute best, true to form, orgasmic crescendos to reach final conclusions ever properly put to music. Foghat was a truly great band of their time.
This has been a favorite song since I was 5 or 6 years old ~1980... good sound and feel can be recognized at any age, especially when it's that good
Great reaction! Everytime I hear this song I instantly think about the movie, Dazed & Confused.
"FOGHAT LIVE" one of the best live albums out there. Listen to "honey hush" off this album, nothing but a jam!!!
I think the most epic use of this song in a movie was the end of "Dazed and Confused" ................"Alright alright alright"
Definitely used in the DAZED AND CONFUSED soundtrack (Matthew McConehey, Ben Affleck, Parker Posey 1993)
My very first concert was Foghat and Black Oak Arkansas. Foghat led off when Black Oak came out we booed them off the stage! By the way did you hear a new little girl just got the Golden Buzzer on AGT Sunday night. Check out AGT 2022 Golden Buzzer From the Audience to the Stage Maddie wows the judges. Remember Angelina
Foghat has SO many great songs. Fool for the City, I Just Wanna Make Love to You, Boogie Motel, Drivin' Wheel, Third Time Lucky, Honey Hush, Maybelline, Stone Blue
I saw the title, and I knew you guys would like this one! I agree with you that this has some heavy funk. Yes, this song has been used in movies and commercials.
Great 70's classic. Foghat was huge in the 70's, probably been used in movies, commercials, etc....!
That squealing you hear throughout the song is the late great Rod Price on Slide guitar. That solo at the end is ear piercing beautiful.
love you guys . . . so glad you're enjoying all the great music I grew up with. And how back in the 60's-80's "our" music was Awsome, there were "hidden meanings in alot of songs to reference SEX DRUGS AND ROCK n ROLL. . . . it was like all had a secret message ! And the songs were great music and wholsome. No crazy vulgar BS . . even whem speaking about the "bad" elaments out there, it was done with respect and in fun. . .so glad you are enjoying my youth . . through the music. . .enjoy
Foghat was one of the greatest boogie woogie rock bands of all time.
You have heard this song at every State Fair you ever been to. It was always played on the rides.
70’s rock baby ! 👏👍🔥😎💯
Mani was listening to this summer of 74-75 at that time is played on the radio everyday and juke box everywhere you went . Rock and roll staple in the 70's.just like all the 70's music transcends time . Just as killer today as it was the first time I heard it.
It was in the movie Dazed & Confused. Set in Texas. Last day of school in 1976. If you want to understand the 70s you should watch it. The movie where Matthew McConaughey coined his "alright, alright, alright" phrase.
I got to see them at rivflat jam in Minnesota there was a lot of over the crowd it was a great show
I just love watching young people digging on my favorite songs! 💙
It was on the Dazed and Confused soundtrack, which had a young Matthew McConaughey and Ben Afleck in it.
True, true this song is not about riding in a car, its a total metaphor for slow sex in the afternoon, BUT this song will forever be linked for me to being 16 years old in 1979 and riding the backroads of South Georgia with my boyfriend in his Trans Am with the t-tops out on a sunny summer day...wearing my halter top, cut off jeans and Farrah Fawcett hair, of course! This 70s music always sounded better blaring out of a Trans Am tape deck.
One of the first albums my older brother bought when we graduated from the tv/stereo/ Liquor cabinet combo to a real stereo with speakers. Haha. I listened to "slow ride" so many times my Mom had to buy my brother a new one. Yup! I scratched it. 😂 great memory! Thanks!
This was Foghat's biggest hit, and that is Rod Price's slide guitar that is so prominent.
My personal favorite Foghat songs are "My Babe" and "Third Time Lucky."
Check them out!
Their song Fool For The City is also very good!
CLASSIC 70's PARTY SONG!!
Most 70's rock music was very funky. Heavy blues influence.
Saw them back in the early 70s...awesome time....yes it was.Wish I could relive those days.
Glad you enjoyed it
Not about driving n a car, but it’s one of the best songs to drive to.
This song goes way back and I heard it growing up, but it will always remind me of the movie dazed and confused. Baked at the dollar movies when that movie came out. Good times.
This song has been in many movies....especially one of my favorites "Dazed and Confused "
It WAS in the soundtrack of my youth!
I'm exhausted just from listening !
Back in 1977-78 I went to Vo-tech school , they had a jukebox in the cafeteria and this was one of the most played songs , some days you would hear Slowride several times , which was fine with me because it was a great sounding one .
This takes me back to my high school football days. Our bus rides home whether we when or lose this song was played religiously!
Screaming slide guitar!!!! Lonesome Dave. Awesome
The movie Dazed and Confused has this song. That movie is a soundtrack. And what a soundtrack!
This is another one of them songs that I'd hear all the time at the skating rink, back in the 70's! Cool song for the rink!
Everytime I hear this it takes me back to playing " guitar hero" on the PS3 with my young daughters many years ago...great song, great memories 😊
Fantastic band
Dazed and Confused was a classic, this brings me back to high school
I think it was used in the movie Dazed and Confused. That movie had a killer 70s stoner soundtrack. Yes, I saw Foghat live back in the day
Iconic 70's song that has been used in films.
This song is all about "making love".....they were huge fans of the great bluesman Muddy Waters.....sung by the late great Handsome Dave Preverette....this band was one of the great touring bands of the late '70s early '80s....their tour included Boston...ZZ Top....Nazareth and Foghat... imagine that lineup for a concert ...Ted Nugent was with them at the Texas Jam concerts....🎉....my other favorite is "Third Time Lucky" which was their last Top 40 hit
Foghat Live is a 1977 live album by Foghat great album
Version of slow ride might be better. Certainly the opening sends s chill.
Saw them live 2 or 3 times, your feet never stop moving...many of 70's rock bands were influenced by the 50's and 60's Motown music, and there is the funk you hear.
Junior high school days with this song, this tune appeared in the movie 👉 Dazed And Confused !! 😊
Yall have great musicality! Love to see you enjoy it for what it is.
