For decades I swore they were a Southern Rock band, and it just blew my mind when I learned they were from the UK, and had reformed from the band FREE (“All Right Now”) which was the band Ronnie Van Zandt was said to have been really inspired by to go on and form Lynyrd Skynyrd.

This randy rocker was written by Mott The Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, who also sang lead on the track. When the band split up, Ralphs brought the song to his new group, Bad Company, who included it on their first album, this time with their vocalist Paul Rodgers singing lead. The album took off, going to #1 in a number of territories, thanks in large part to two other songs Ralphs brought to the group that were not recorded by Mott: "Can't Get Enough" and "Movin' On." The Bad Company version of "Ready For Love" became much more popular than the original.

Haunting melody and arrangement. The lyrics speak to those who've suffered the loss of a partner through one of the two Big D's, divorce or death, and are finally ready to start again. To love again. Ready for love, if you will. This song is low-key one of the most touching songs in the rock genre. For some, it was necessary. 💑 Original version by Mott the Hoople, but a superb cover here.

Bad Company singer, pianist Paul Rodgers also sang in Free before Bad Company and The Firm (with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page) and with Queen after Bad Company. Bad Company was very much influenced by the blues. Paul Rodgers did a tribute album to Muddy Waters. I got to see him on that tour with the Steve Miller Band in 1993. Great show. They even jammed together.

We all know that Bad Company formed out of the band "Free" after Paul Kossof died. After that they reformed and became a bit more commercial without forgetting their blues-rock roots. Unfortunately, as a result, they often stopped and changed the band. after the death of Boz Burrell nothing worth mentioning happened so that apart from minor activities nothing happened. It`s too bad but "Free" and "B.C" live on in our listening rooms. Best wishes @all from hamburg (germany)
