"i-it get's better after you reach max level or 70 hours into it"
Seriously, people will say this to you if you say that the game is kinda boring after 15 hours or after you reach level 20, it's fucking ridiculous.
But it does actually get better tho 😂
@@oblivion.walker It gets better than worse, better than worse throughout the whole game. They just add more voice acted cutscenes.
@@trollingisasport yeah with mmos in general and FFXIV in my personal experience, the amount of energy players expend to convince themselves that the hundreds of hours they have spent in game doing all the mediocre, bland, boring, housekeeping tasks is somewhat worthwhile in service to a really great game experience is quite a lot. I think with anything there is good and bad elements but there should be balance tilted towards exciting, interesting content.
@@bate01071 Couldn't agree more.
It is STILL LIKE THAT! Oh my gosh, I have never in my life played an mmo that literally made me fall asleep, and I played for just the first half an hour!
Haha, still valid! I just tried, like, REALLY tried to push through. But oh my god. It's so horrible!
@@pikolowetone of the best mmos I’ve ever played once you get going the main quest is recommended to be speed ran the boss fights at the end of a realm reborn/base game are epic dlc just gets better
@@gsegaming9300 and i get that point, but i cannot push through the hours of devastatingly bad content to get to the good part. I just dont have the time for this
This video is 7 years old and just as relevant. Tried FFXIV for the first time today and after 2 and a half hours I can easily say that its the most unimpressive start to an mmo I've ever personally experienced. A nonsensical opening that doesn't appear to mean anything, then a cutscene with no voice acting. Then a barrage of smaller "cutscenes" that could don't need to be cutscenes since all your doing is standing in front of a talking npc. To top it off you get handed a bunch of, go here, talk to this person, fetch this quests that aren't engaging at all. Honestly it just feels like mmorpgs haven't evolved and grown to reach newer heights like nearly every other genre.
20 hours into the game and Its the same thing... Game feels extremely outdated (atmosphere, npcs, mobs, the script, combat LEGIT EVERYTHING).
I've played The Witcher 3, Nier Automata and some other games that have really insane story telling and my god this game doesn't even have 1/10th of what they offer. I don't know why the game is so well known for that after seeing the amount of LOW EFFORT that's put into it.
I don't recommend this game to anyone who has any standards for what they read and experience
I played the free trial today, VERY boring.
@@angelg3642 you’re comparing an MMO to the Witcher three and nier which are single player games
So true.
If people want to play a story-focused MMO, they should play SW:TOR, or even GW2. Genuinely. I've played both, and while GW2's old launch campaign isn't insane, it's certainly MUCH better than FF14. And it genuinely does get better later, alongside an MMO with engaging gameplay. And SW:TOR is literally the story MMO.
The amount of copium from the FF14 players is actually insane. But I guess you have to convince yourself that it's a GROUNDBREAKING EXPERIENCE if you've sunk 200 fucking hours into it.
@@prestigini3150 No excuse considering swtor story is beyond most single player games lol
I felt the same way. When I just got into the game, the starting area really tested my patience. It was boring, bland, and completely uninteresting.
“It gets better after 400 hours”
I couldn't handle how boring those delivery quests were so I started skipping through the dialogue, and even then, it took me hours of trudging through busy work to get to the next dungeon so I can have fun with my friends again. This is terrible game design. The pacing is atrocious. Oh, a bunch of ppl I cared about just died. That's so sad. Now, let's head to the beach and have a comedic cutscene----Wtf?
"It gets good after 150 hours!" - FFXIV community
2021, it's still shite. Game was 60% off, friend wanted to get into new mmo, playing it right now and I'm running back and forth all over the city just talking to NPCs, this is so unbelievably boring it's putting me to sleep.
Just quit at level 62. It doesn't get any better.
@@azure401 really? what the fuck i was promised "the most incredible questing/story experience in gaming/mmos.
im level 29 and my mind is blown at the shit game design
It's your fault you joined the "play for 248 years and it will be better trust me" hype. No hate dude, but you should have felt already this game sux harder than a redlight worker in Amsterdam lmao
@@josemaranchio5747 well update, i have 500 hours of playtime in my free month trail just ended.
that's nearly 16 hours a day. so, ya, my mind has changed lol
@@caliklepto1316 when did it get good in your opinion? I played until lvl 60 and the end of the first expansion and got so bored I quit. When does it get good? I put about 100 hours in
Most of the questing is about on par with the menial tasks in the beginning unfortunately. Around level 30 I was doing a main story quest that involved me taking a pot to the creek to fill it with water... wat.
The main quest should be nothing short of epic, find some NPCs to get your water for you.
I agree
this is the rest of the game all the way to lvl 80 now. There are people calling this "best mmo" and "best story"
@@Kserijaro my lala strutting up to Nidhogg to assert dominance can't hear you over the sound of all the fun I'm having.
And do u want every quest to be epic god ppl are so spoiled nowadays
"In the beginning." You mean 80% of the whole msq. lol I have never seen mass hysteria to the point of FF 14.
I liked the way WoW did it, if you didn't know where to find a certain vendor, shop or battlemasters you would just ask a guard and it would point it in the minimap
Exactly what I've been saying about the game! If you have to play pass a certain lvl to actually experience some fun, then it's not a good game!
And that was one of SWTORs major selling points; the "first fully voiced mmo"
swtor is still better with story and immersion than ffxiv. But i still choose to play ffxiv more because of all the other stuff that it offers. SWTOR tho is great too
Yeah, 7 lvls and I've quit. The weirdest thing was how confused I was. I was searching for THAT greatest mmo in the history, yet couldn't find it. I thought I was doing something wrong, for everything in the game was so boring and tedious.
Guess to each their own. For the fans - if you love it, good for you. But understand there are people who gave the game a chance but don't enjoy it like you do.
World of warcraft. Try it.
It’s crazy that FF14 is so popular when the beginning is one of the worst for a triple A mmo.
The devs have been warned multiple times of that during beta... so shame on them.
They don't give a shit. As long as there will be weebs who will pay big bucks for anything that even smells of Japan this shit will continue to be perpetrated.
Taking advantage of the mentally ill is extremely bad karma. The developers shall be reborn as slaughter cows again and again, mark my words.
You're right. Those no life fuckos always support this kind of bullshit, cuz they always feel "lonely"in real world.
@Balls Mcgee its the same until max
@@truthabouttheworld3186 I'm at Endwalker (once it releases) and there are few things I love about this game, especially the music. But, what you are saying is 100% right. The weebs who tend to overhype this game are its biggest issue, they can't take any criticism. Reminds me of the 'brony' fanbase.
i wanted to get into the game, im pretty new to mmo's but i cannot justify hours and hours of tedious A to B tasks just so i can enjoy the game later on. If it was a few hours fine but its not and takes forever. Its a shame because I like anime and im sure the main story is amazing.
When I first started I was so tired of reading that I just started skipping dialog. Then ran outside to grind to level 2 bc I couldn't stand reading anymore lol
Yeah, this game gets a LOT better when you just skip dialog.
Years later this is still true
@@JS8222 I just gave up as well after 4 hours. Tedious, overrated boring garbage are the words that come to mind when i think of this game. A game has to grab me within the first few hours not "oh it gets better 15hours in" NO f*ck that its so boring i wanna stab my eyes out.
@@Supadrumma441 how can you say anything about the latest expansion is overrated when you haven't even played 5 hours. The beginning sucks, but the latest expansion is the best of any MMO.
@@Henji96 I don't buy the "Its gets better after x number of hours argument" ever in mmo's. The game needs to grab me in the first couple of hours, not 10, 20 or 30 hours down the line. I got far more interesting things to do with my life for 30+ hours and actually gain enjoyment. Quit being a fanboy.
@@Supadrumma441 I'll repeat "the beginning sucks". Almost everything in ARR sucks. The rest, especially the latest expansion is some of the best mmo content that exist. All I'm saying is that you can't really call something overrated if you haven't tried it yet. It's not ARR that's critically acclaimed to be some of the best content in an MMO, it's Shadowbringers of which you have played none.
@@Henji96 And I have zero interest in trying. Tell it to someone who gives a fuck.
So i decided to start streaming and picked this game. I got a semi decent number of viewers (upto 10) on my 3rd 3-4 hour stream but jeez the game just isn't exciting at all so far. I'm level 29 and I just cant find anything to talk my stream about with the game.
I know it gets more fun ive played past level 60 before but never paid attention to the story, I decided for my stream I would give the story a proper go...
like i couldn't sleep for some reason and when i started the begining of the free trial i just couldn't handle it after 30 mins and went to sleep from how bored i was
Same here
It is actually tragic to watch an eight year old video with background footage that is literally identical to what I played 6 hours ago, in 2021. This was shit in 2013, and it's shit in 2021. I legitimately don't understand the hype for this game. I've spent 70 hours trying to get into this on 3 different occasions. The combat is slow and boring. 3 second GCDs, using 2 unimpactful abilities for ages. The absolutely tedious and forced story seems to actively want you to fuck off. It's like someone sat down to write a book and just never fucking stopped. Maybe it gets good 2000 pages in, but anyone with an ounce of sense will have stopped by page 50.
"It's like someone sat down to write a book and just never fucking stopped." Ahahaha. What a perfect way to describe the main plot. I think it would've been much cooler if each expansion was totally new characters and setting with people only occasionally returning for good plot reasons. Feels like a lot of the plot is written around the characters.
ironically the older you get the lower your patience gets for boring games or boring parts of games
Coming upon this in 2021, as someone who has finished every expansion, run basically all the (non savage/extreme) content, leveled all their crafters, put in 100's of hours etc. Yes the game is way too fucking slow to start and yes it will turn people of the game. I almost quit until I started crafting, and that kept me engaged enough to continue past the early game and get invested, and now suddenly it's one of my most played games. Nothing you really said here was wrong and that's so unfortunate as the game has so much to offer that so many never see because "it gets good later, trust me" is not a good motivator.
Yeah. It's funny how that's ok for this game, but for any other release games get whole points from their score knocked off for the same pacing issues. I imagine FF14 is a big giant dick and all the people who swear by it are there to suck it.
During some of my play sessions I don't even get to combat for hours
I decided to delete the game after the first few minutes... What's worse it was during 14 day trial. Game is boringggggg.... Omg sooooo freaking boring.
Seriously. Everyone I've spoken to has told me: "It gets better at max level."
WAT? So I have to be bored out of my mind for 80 hours before I even begin to enjoy it? How many times do I need to kill X amount of bugs and do fetch quests before I start having fun?
How many times do I need to keep spamming the SAME fucking ability in battle over and over, until I get more variation on way to fight monsters? But nope, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 switch to new monster, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, switch to new monster---and repeat.
I really WANT to enjoy this game. I've seen brief moments where I say to myself, "Oh okay, I could see how dungeons could be fun". But 95% of it just these menial fucking tasks. They need more low level content. I'm level 25 and still feel like there isn't much for me to do beyond being a bitch boy for random npcs.
Fuck it im not playing it anymore! I’m 30mins in so i googled this to find that there’s another hour at least of this boring shite!
Man, I'm die-hard Final Fantasy fan, but this is so boring. I pushed my self so hard to level 30 but I can't stand it anymore.
Level 60 and 100 hours in and it's the same inane shit. But I am a trained grinder and once I get my teeth into something I do not easily let go until it's clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's shite that should be abandoned.
If the later expansions are bad I shall make a video exposing the whole shit.
This game is free to play quality, seriously. I have played many mmo games over the years and it's horribly designed. The quest system is about 10+ years behind. It has no real tracking, all of the quests send you all over the place with no real substance. The map is beyond horrible, which you can barely see quest icons and points of interest, even if you are completely zoomed it. I am sure it's fine if you are playing at 1280x1024 resolution. The game itself looks great graphically, but then you come to realize that the actual game world is much smaller than how the map portrays the game. You can literally run across supposed huge areas in a couple minutes. Certain objects, buildings and terrain does not permit you to move as you would like. I am talking about travel, not being able to jump off a cliff, bridge or walkway gets old fast, instead you have to walk around the area. I could go on and on about things I hate about this game, but it really just lacks a lot. The interface is awful, when you bring up your character stats, inventory, things of that nature it feels like you are playing a game from 2003. The whole lack of voice acting and even sounds made me feel like I had been placed on hold with total silence. It's already bad enough that you have to click to read everything and sometimes it bugs out and freezes on a page or two. The game lack humor from what I have seen and the whole anime cartoon theme is enough to drive anyone insane. My friend has has been playing this for 3 years, he recently asked me to play and I tried it. I made it to level 15, but those 15 levels have frayed my sanity. I asked him what he does in the game, he said he crafts, but hasn't raided in a while. Anyway, I am a WoW player, I don't think any game will ever come close to that one and this game certainly doesn't touch a hair on it's ass. It's like night and day when you compare the two. One (being wow) is fully developed, almost flawless and the other (FF) should still be in beta with about 5 more years to go before it goes live. I hate to hurt my friend's feelings, but good god this game sucks, you shouldn't have to hit a higher level for a game to become exciting, it should be exciting the moment you set foot into the game.
my eyes hurt
@@Antifa850 gouge them out faggot
I am starting it on 2023, and it is boring to death.
Level 33 paladin and I´m thinking of quitting already. The story is dull and I need 100 more hours to start enjoying the game?
What are those amazing changes that makes it good at level 50?
Quit if you already didn't. It's not worth going trought 100 hours of mediocre shit just to get to play more mediocre shit in the expansions.
I'm 100 hours in and level 60 on my samurai (gave up on my warrior tank because I just don't want to deal with the outdated tab targeting as a noob tank) still the most mind numbing boring shit I have ever experienced.
I am determined to push through and see for myself if the later expansions truly get better or if everyone has drunk the weeb cool aid and their minds are slowly deteriorating.
I will find out the truth in probably another 100 hours.
@@cosmancho2959 I hear you can buy the weeb potion to skip the mindless drivel. Imagine buying that and discovering that the expansions are garbage and everyone promoting the game are trapped i to some kind of weeb borg delirium. Scary shit.
FFXIII's intro takes something like 20 hours.
30+
No it takes 400h to go trough shit story and talking and standing. And then you get to play MMO.
@@Kserijaro An MMO locking its MMO content behind a pretty much 100% solo experience is the stupidest thing i have witnessed in video game history espially when that "experience" in several hundred hours long even skipping cutscenes and text.

I have played F2P that hook you with progression, dungeons and gear tweaking. None of it is in FF14.
It should have been a single player game, with a story and characters less retarded.
Its just horrendous. Stay safe! And dont waste time!
I've tried playing this sh*t 11 times now, even bought a story skip and the game is still boring as hell. I'll never make it past level 40.
The game is boring back in 2013 and it is still a boring game in 2022.
i just started the game today... i can not do it anymore. 2 hours in and i am so bored. someone tell me a good mmo to play
Osrs
He's aware of the purpose for those quests he just wanted them spread out more so that they pop up as needed rather than all in a 90 minute block at the start.
game is more like 15 hours of "speak to this person" with 40 mins of fights inbetween that im STILL trying to get through a realm reborn but god damn...
I’ve tried twice to get through the intro. It’s aggressively boring. Can’t get through it
Yep, absolutely correct. In Beta I did it completely wrong too, because I'm the type of person that HAS to grab every single quest and HAS to complete every quest before moving forward. A completist if you will. But I don't think the beginning is is designed that way: you can pretty much grab the first story quest and class quest and just leave the city to go straight into combat within 5 minutes of starting.
The biggest mistake I made is doing ALL the quest before the focusing on story quests.
I finally stopped playing last night, The FFXIV forums gave me some advice to keep going because the good stuff was coming. So I played for another six hours, and it was still just one boring fetch quest after another.
Plus, the story line is nonexistent and BORING, my favorite FF games are 7, 8 and 9... all text games. So I don't mind there is no voice work, but the text in this game is monotonous and boring that I just started skipping over it.
How did the designers focus so much on making this game so beautiful and forget to make it FUN!?
Ateuzinhu Abortixta xiii I understand the gate for viii was a fantastic game but over complicated vs vii plus had less likable characters I understand but was a good game over all
For something that's supposed to be considered entertaining and fun, the phrase "the beginning is crap" pretty much cancels out anything that comes after it. There is no "but" if you can't even spark the players interest and keep their attention from the start, perhaps even tempt them to stop playing even before the game has actually started. If this is even remotely the case then you're doing something terribly wrong and you've pretty much failed at presentation 101.
I really hope this game gets better. I am only lvl7 and I am dying from boredom
+8symmetry Almost a year later I have 948 hours of game time ^^
well yet another year later, and this level 8 new player finds this so fkin boring. My friend tells me it gets better at about level 30 but geeze.. idk if i can even get to it without dying of boredom.
@@Foxkey kinda late but is it worth it ?
@@zerza996 2700 hrs game time right now. The gameplay is kinda repetitive and 90% of quests are go talk to npc/clear dungeon. But if you play games for story its very much worth it.

Its now 2021. Video is as relevant as ever. Terrible writing, lifeless acting and animation, boring quests. I love to read but goof lord ARR is a slog. Even cutting some filler quests didnt improve much of anything. Thankfully much later expansions are better. They'd best either delete it or remove half of the quests lmao
I just started playing and oh my God, I've never played the most superfluous, mundane, time consuming, BORING quests ever. Every quest feels useless and dumb.

@@winds1010 You go from delivering pies and cheese to slayer of emperor's and gods. That's sounds interesting right?
Force, you made a particularly good point in saying that you really don't need to be introduced to the shopkeeps that early. There's a lvl 5-ish quest that ends up pretty much requiring you to buy pants (I think) from a merchant. If they'd move that shopkeep intro quest to lvl 5 rather than throw it in your face right at the start, that might be a significant improvement. I actually ran around for a long time trying to find a quest to get pants and no clue I was supposed to just buy them.
Thank god someone is talking about this rather than making it taboo. All i see is videos that tell you to never criticise the game... I'm sorry but ive played Black Desert, Blade and Soul, Guild Wars 2 etc and they've had so much more to offer to keep people hooked and make them play through... I've really tried but there's nothing to keep me interested. No voice acting (I mean a massive franchise like final fantasy can't afford voice acting? There's just the odd section with the white-haired cat girl that seems randomly scattered and misplaced just so they can say they do have a small amount of VA. What's that about? If its this popular surely they can spend some of making the story interesting with acting??), crappy stand-still-to-cast combat (arcanist), no good story (too much text to read about pirate and kidnapping that I'm not bothered about)
I want to find out why it's so popular cuz i'm really not understanding. It's bad game design to not keep people hooked so they stick around and pay money. It's just bad. I don't understand it because the final fantasy side stories like Bravely default are designed 1000x better than this at the beginning. even 15 had a fun opening just with a broken-down car... I only picked up the FFXVI fre trial because I was inpressed by the first couple hours of 15, my first mainline FF game. So disappointed, the youtube videos from higher level really hype it for nothing.. god knows how they got that far
gave this game a try, i quit before I could get any combat
Yeaaaaaa.
Same here force.
I was in the beta I just passed out man.
If ur having trouble sleeping or have insomnia play this game. It will help you sleep.
I do not accept financial reasons. We're talking about Squere Enix, one of the largest gaming companies in the world. They made all the other Final Fantasy games.
The game is so boring. Voice acting would make it better. And better cutscenes. In short: I agree with the video... small comment: the game has straight up gambling. You know, a game for all ages.
aw shit man, I wish I watched this video before I dived in. It's 2022, I'm at level 35 and it's the most boring game I have ever played. I checked a reddit thread and there were people saying they've been playing the game for 5 years and they keep playing because they've invested so much time but even they agree it's boring asf. The busy work is worse than ubisoft games.
Played it, after hours of walking around I finally experience the Combat, but..... WHAT IN THE FUCK IS THIS SHITTY COMBAT SYSTEM!!! I've seen MMOs that came out the same year with better and engaging combat systems. You push a skill, you land a hit, the enemy then follows through and hits you back, you do the same thing. There's no active Dodging/iFrames, no active blocking with rewards of you blocked the attack 0.3 seconds before landing, the fight is stationary in the same spot, the only time you move is when you spot those toddler-proof indicators of an incoming skill... I swear to God, I'm glad turn based is a dying breed to the FF series now. I'm glad FFVII R got an action combat system, I'm glad FFXVI has an action combat system, I laugh when all the haters of active combat can't handle the change.
News flash, been playing FF - Mystic Quest. My first FF game, loved the hell out of FFX, the Original FFVII, and onwards.
But now... I will never see replayability in those games ever again. Dark souls, Sekiro, Witcher, CodeVein, Monster Hunter, God eater, Devil May Cry, God of War 4, Kingdom Hearts, NieR, KurtzPel, Black Desert Online (Name other high skill ladder action combat game) ruined Turn Based combat. My expectations for Combat already became TOO HIGH. To the point where all of the turn based RPGs I enjoyed back then are no longer enjoyable and lost replayability.
I used to be against action combat, but like you I'm totally for it, but I do think JRPGs with random encounters still have a place, though I prefer them to be fixed camera and quick paced.
FF6 has a few lines of text and then drops you into some battles in your magitek armor. FF7 starts you off running INTO a battle. FF8 is maybe the closest that I can think of at about 20 minutes playtime if you linger to talk some before rushing out. FFX has maybe 15 minutes of movie-esk stuff before throwing you into a battle. FF12 has maybe 15 minutes of cutscene / text before it starts the battles. Clearly anyone telling you this is a Final Fantasy thing is stupid.
The reason Sakaguchi's games start out that way is because that's one his core philosophies, which I think is mastermind level design albeit simple. Start off with plot action to set the pacing. The only reason 8 didn't do that is because they gave the reigns to someone else. It really should have started with the landing scene. Would have set a whole other tone to the game.
Force already covered that point. The problem is you're shown all those things in one go right at the beginning when you don't even need to be shown them yet. Better to show you those things as and when you need to them for the first time and breaking it up between small bouts of combat for better immersion.
this is just as any other asian mmorpg imo... grindy as hell, boring pointless quests, skip-able story. all they do well is animations, graphics and combat, but, in xiv the combat is really slow and boring
Ah I don't mind the combat, as it is supposed to kinda feel like a single player FF (just online) which is cool. I just really hate how they did the dungeons, and party mechanics. I miss being able to walk into a dungeon, alone or with a friend, to explore. Would be awesome to go into a dungeon seeing people doing leves, or FATE, and see a party run by to do whatever big quest had you go into that dungeon.
The dungeons feel rushed, and lazy- speed running which many do, only make them more lame lol. Its ridiculously stupid, that you NEED 4 or 8 to enter a dungeon. The exceptions of course are Binding Coil, and Crystal Tower. I've got no problem with those being big raids, and needing X amount of people. Though a regular damn dungeon, I'm restricted unless I have 4.. RETARDED!
I really do not know how they will do the new jobs on the way, which looks to be Thief/Ninja, and Machinist. I don't like how they've done many of the jobs. Bard should have been left as support. Give it its sonic damage attacks, but ALL of its moves should have been songs. They give White Mage Stone and Aero- which have always been Black Mage spells, when if they wanted White Mage to have some fight power- just should have gone with Dia and Holy. Black Mage, should have retained all of its spells, and it sucked they removed elemental wheel of the game.
The game is definitely a step up from the original 1.0, but I don't see it going on as long as FFXI is going. Many new MMO's won't last as long, because they keep gearing them also towards casuals.
When i wrote this comment i had only played couple of hours but then, i decided to push through it and keep on playing, see how it is at higher levels... i just couldnt. Made it to lvl 36 on pugilist, leveled a few others on this side and the jobs which BY GOD leveling a job is the most horrible thing in this game... GRIND GRIND GRIND and not even quests... just repeat the same fates, leves over and over and maybe throw in a few boring dungeons from time to time.
I don't know which are the improvements from the previos one since i haven't played and thanks god for that.
Map? the laziest design i have ever seen in an mmorpg... LVL 1 to 30-40 or even 50 on the same MAP?
Story? pff... go thanaln speak, kill go back to noscea, speak kill collect, go back thanalan... REPEAT. And don't tell me you gotta read it to understand.. fuck that, i'd better read a book
Combat? Meh, i'm ok with tab targeting as long as the rest of the game is some kind of an improvement which is not the case here
PVP? a joke...
Never been a ff fan, never will be.
Penguin Meister lol Yeah the grinding gets ridiculous, and its about to get worse! If I were to hit level 51, I need if I remember 600K XP! It can easily go up into the millions lol. I better see 100K's in XP after quest, not 30-50K lol.
I can do leves, which don't offer as much as dungeons (I like to save those for crafting), or FATES. I can maybe stand around waiting to get people to join a party I create, or waiting maybe even longer in Duty Finder- because I wanna play my Machinist or Ninja, and tanks, and healers get in faster lol.
Or I can try to grind FATES, and compete with massive waves of parties quickly destroying everything, because they are farming Atma crystals lol. I just don't know lol.
Looks like ArcheAge will be really awesome. ArcheAge and Wildstar are the ones on top right now.
Penguin Meister Lol typical. Level 50 is where this game shines as well as the story and dungeons!. We wouldn't want a whiny little bitch like you in this fantastic community anyway, see ya!.
i am playing it right now, and i am so close to quitting...
Did you quit? I sure did!
@@silver4831 I spent 20 hours. 20 wasted hours... .
Play The Witcher 3 and immerse yourself into an actual RPG game (if you prefer good story that doesn't kill your interest in the first few hours).
It's very boring. Final Fantasy fetchquest. I have no idea what the story really is. Read 6 pages of shit for every douchy quest. Go to the evil thing and kill the evil thing, or collect 6 things, or kill 6 things. Thats my 2 days worth of playing this so far. No voiceacting is absolutely pathetic. This is 2016 and a Square Enix game. This isn't some B list company.
Started the game today. Probably uninstalling the game today. And I'm a big ff fan
It never gets better. Compare this to FF7 where combat starts in the first 10 seconds.
I quit FFXIV after one hour of being bored shitless running around reading text. I can't bring myself to play again.
It doesn't get better even after 55 hours. Some bullshit of reading text.
@@cartoonvideos5 Indeed i have never seen a community lie so hard about a game to sucker people into playing it
I'm just sad that in the intro for Limsa Lominsa within about 5 minutes you're running away from pirates and not just fighting them. There was no point in even having that whole sequence on the ship, it's all stuff that is reexamined later anyway as the story progresses. This game is interesting and I'm enjoying most of it but there just all these tedious little things throughout the game that bug me. They get a lot easier to brush aside later on but they never really go away.
I fall asleep playing the game. Maybe if they change or add an option to voice every quest i would try again.
The majority of MMO players do not read the quest logs because there is too much reading, so you end up wasting a lot of time when you could be immersed in the gameplay.
They have to make the beginning a bit like in Neverwinter:
Hey, you shipwrecked, go get your stuff, fight some monsters, oh look a tutorial boss.
Pretty much that. :>
I wanted to try Final Fantasy Online. I got through this boring intro. Then I was in this huge city and I got soooo bored... Deinstalled it.
WoW was amazing at first, the whole fantasy world where you progressed slowly, so you wanted to explore almost everything.
WoW started out amazing, now its not the same and is all about maxing and grinding. No mystery left.
I gave up after an hour. In 2022 it still is still the most boring introduction I have seen in an MMORPG ever.
its a bland game with some added polish.
like they say, can't polish a turd and make it gold.
Oh square...just keep on breaking my heart
As an MMO Vet I found the first 10 levels to be a lot of un necessary hand holding. On the other hand, as an MMO Vet, I sped through the first 10 levels in 2 hours, and 2 hours is nothing in the life of an MMO.
And I *did* enjoy seeing the gorgeous settings and getting a sense of place. Those bread crumb tutorial quests get players of all skill and experience levels used to the conventions of clicking on objects, talking to NPCs, using the map and quest log, etc.
Why would i grind through a game that i find boring? I have an disposable income, ill just go buy a game that peaks my interest.
i bought it for 4days ago and now i give it back on steam
the combat system is so fucking boring men
The thing that pisses me off is that they use so many words to say so little. It's such a childish and horrible paced way to write a story. This is something a game like Tales of Arise (and I usually don't like Tales games for the same reason) did reasonably well.
Force, I agree with you completely. By the time I actually got out of town and finally into some combat, I realized that I didn't particularly care for the character I had made. I made a new character that was exactly what I wanted then as soon as I realized I was going to have to go through the entire 90 minutes of crap again, I logged out and haven't been able to bring myself to play again.
I do agree that this game even to this day has serious issues with it's story progression. People will say that ARR is generally bad but that the story picks up in Heavensward. This is only partly true. The story does improve. But the MSQ still consumes why too much the games "real estate" if that makes sense. There's so much content in this game but the only real way to make progress is by completing the MSQ as much of the content is locked behind MSQ checkpoints. For many players, this means 400 hours of story grinding until you are up to speed with the latest content (this isn't a joke). Of course, you can always do the older content and not rush it. But realistically most of us would rather be able to do the newest stuff and work our way backwards once we get bored of that. As Force mentioned, the "balance" is definitely off. And most of the MSQ is simply going from A to B, reading dialogs, watching unvoiced cutscenes, and occassionally you will get a voiced cutscene where something interesting happens. People say that FF14 respects the players time but I very much disagree. Tons of the players time IS wasted by tedious tasks and side-stories that don't really matter at all in the grand scheme of things. Now I will just say, I do enjoy this game. The combat is fun and I like how you can easily switch jobs. However, the MSQ is very much a grind and I am not a fan of it. As much as I like the story at parts - there's a ton of fluff in there even in the newest expansions. I think at least half of the unvoiced cutscenes in this game could be removed and/or replaced with a voiced cutscene of higher quality. Many of the unvoiced cutscenes here are literally so basic, they don't even make sense to be cutscenes. Also many of the point go A to B quests should have been replaced with more interesting tasks.
The cities aren't poorly designed. The intro doesn't take 60 minutes, it can take a much shorter amount of time if you're willing to skip through the dialogue. Should they have streamlined it and broken it up into chunks; yes. Should they have a second story path that takes you to fighting monsters straight away; maybe.
Droll exposition as you call it is SE's way of introducing story. This is still a Final Fantasy game, this is why it has a big story. If you don't like it you can skip it.
The start of this game is what made me stop playing it. I mean even the opening cutsceen doesnt even have voice acting. Yeah i call that lazy.
For those who haven't played this game, download any generic freebie Asian clone MMO and play it. You have now played this game too.
The entire game is pretty boring to be honest. I've played a few months on and off since release and to be real I only play with I'm depressed because this game satisfied that void. It's dull looking and dull playing. No excitement whatsoever. I did play 11 and while it had it's flaws.. I expected more from 14 especially seeing how much time passed. It's like they didn't really learn much from 11 or from other games that have been successful.
I lost my motivation after freeing Thancred.
I couldn't get through the beginning at all. I deleted the beta
An NPC named Ahldskyf..
Wow.
if i had to face an hour of hand holding and being walked through a city shown where shit is...no, i would stop playing long before that. one of the things i loved about GW2 when i started playing it was the amount of exploration i got to do in each city trying to figure out what vendor was where, where the crafting areas were, how to get places...i dont want or need to be guided. i say make them available, but not mandatory, so players can choose for action in the beginning if they want
The first hour or so is pretty slow....but with that being said isnt this video a little pointless?
It is even more tedious because those text boxes are tiny, even scaling them to be bigger does not do much to help their small size.
The UI overall is awful.
That and the city was neatly segmented. Leathworking trainers for example in WoW, was found close to class trainers that utilize leatherworking majorly.
I agree, I have always loved final fantasy games and this was my first MMO, so I was really excited. But the game is so boring and lame, and don't see the point in waisting time playing it. I am at level 15 and I'm getting really close to quitting
I can't speak for Limsa Lominsa much since i started a pugilist in Ul'dah. But in Ul'dah, one of your first 3 quests or so sends you to beat stuff up. While there is also a lot of talking you can get some fighting going within the first few minutes, but i admit i personally wanted to explore the town first and in typical MMO style, decided to find and pick up all quests first before heading out, so i didn't get much fighting done in the first 30 minutes or so either.
Bought the game and I'm fucking bored af. Finding where to go is the only exciting thing.
To be honest the worst part is that the characters seem to be lip synced to a nonexistent voiceover. It feels so awkward and makes you read all the walls of text.
for examlpe like most other games by giving u a smaller town with less stuff then some combat and then the big city
which i still dont like because its 2 mutch at once(for me) but the whole city at the start with 60-90 min tutorial, is this a city simulator?
The most boring game I have ever played in my entire life from God to Narnia I swear. I reached Heavensward and did a handful of quests.
This game plays like SECOND LIFE. Is this an MMO or a social gathering game?
You have to do so much content just to unlock dungeons.
Every class plays the SAME, it is just the same class with different glamour on, playing a healer is like playing a dps class?
Seriously? Having to do like 15 quests to unlock a new dungeon, and the story isn't interesting whatsoever the characters repeat themselves many times.
The mechanics of bosses and monsters are the same.
Does the text scroll by so fast that you can't read it? l HATE when that happens in games.
(ah, i went into combat after about 10 minutes myself btw, just skipped those level 1-5 quests :P)
is force in the hearthstone tournament at blizzcon?
Yeah, I kinda QUIT playing FF series due to the "slow motion" starts... Especially when I remember how beautifully FF VII starts... I mean, we already take long to get to the real video game.. turn it on, update the console, loading time, cutscene after cutscene, etc. etc......
I think It's a valid issue that force brings up. Games/Books need to have some sort of action or plot hook going in the beginning to pull people into the game/story. Things can then be explained in-between action and plot advancements. It's not a very good choice to just slap a giant chunk of world info into the first pages of your book because readers will find it incredibly boring. Same with games. Need action, plot hook, some sort of incentive to keep playing and find out what happens.
It’s still the most boring start lmfao
I think this game would be way better if the cutscenes were voiced. Leveling is slow and it gets interesting around level 30.
if you have a skip button then you have no reason to complain.
Those "strange restrictions" were beta restrictions that ended when the game officially launched.
Some people got mad because the "head start" weekend, which was only available if you pre ordered the game, was not technically considered launch, so you couldn't (legally) stream or release videos of the game til midnight of that Monday, even though technically every one was already playing their launch character.
They voiced everything in swtor....
