Very very good video B. I love the fact that you show every step and explain why you are doing it. This helps everyone and keeps people engaged and educated. Last thing we need are people getting frustrated and quit letting the boats collect dust in a closet somewhere.
The main reason i watched this was for the servo upgrade and you have a link for everthing else except the servo specs!

Hi Man, I don't know your name. My name is Michele, I'm writing to you from Italy, I love all your videos and I've been a fan of RC Boats for more than 20 years. I have a Sonicwake V 2 that I've been using for several months. sea water with all the precautions you can imagine... I have never had any problems until now. Having had the problem that the transmission hose slipped inside the coupler, after having noticed that despite tightening to the end the coupler nuts, the whip kept slipping. (there is no grease in the coupler....) So I changed the whip, the coupler and the Teflon tube but I still have the same slippage even with the new coupler obviously original proboat for the sonicwake v2! What I notice is that the new coupler also reaches the end of its stroke by tightening completely against the nut that attaches to the motor axis, while, if I remember correctly, it can also be seen in the your video, the coupler shouldn't tighten completely... I can't understand where the problem is. It all started because at sea, as you can understand, there are waves and therefore the boat bounces with the propeller coming out often out of the water....I know this ruins the transmission, but I still put in new parts... that is, new coupler, hose and Teflon tube! Do you have any advice for me? Is there a better coupler than that one? original? If so, where could I buy it from? Thanks Man!!
Have you replaced the flex cable yet? Look at your flex cable, make sure it's not compressed, if the end is compressed where the couple grabs onto it you'll need a new cable
Loved this video BIG B, very informative with a different way of doing it (that’s y I love your channel better than others) sometimes peps may have different resources to work with at the time. IN MY OPINION ALSO, THE PERSON THAT KEEPS PUTTING “for 18 and over” on your vids, needs to grow some. Have “they” not watched what “peoples “ are trying to push on children in schools and the rest of society here in the USA. Shame on them

I threaded my steering rod connector in to the servo horn and it works good. Didn't have to grind or drill.
I've done that in the past, works good.

Who has the best replacement collet or should I just use proboat sonicwake collet till fails
Curious after doin a bunch of reading...ever tried loctite retaining compounds to do the shafts? 648 to hold a prop shaft to flex cable and 603 for the collet end? Committed to the stealthwake cable/strut upgrade! Vid coming soon 😁
Yes it works for shaft /cable connection I've even used jb-weld steel. For dhaft/flex connection successfully

Hey big B I have a v2 I geased my flex cable and when I ran the boat it did great but all of a sudden the flex cable came loose in a couple of was still tight so I took the coupler off off the motor shaft and I looked at it and I took it apart and it had grease in it I cleaned the grease out real good I used some degreaser to clean at out I had to get in the pond to get my boat I think I'm going to get an invest in a tugboat too
May be time for a new collet. I upgraded mine twice already
I love your videos Great info all the time. I’m just curious though how come you never run any of your boats with water pumps? I live in AZ and I have a Spartan and Ul19 and have duel water pumps in both and never have heat issues!!
Not a big fan of water pumps I have a scale boat with a water pump, works great,
imo. A waterpump is just another thing to possibly fail if it were to fail during a hard run, your electrics wouldn't get a drop of cooling? Hopefully that made sense, voice text 😆
Noticed octura x642 is shorter than stock tonight. Wanted to try it on my dads v1 and didnt have a spacer. Ran out of threads. Tomorrow will be first time with not a stock prop!

Great video bro. Solid upgrades. I recently blew out the stuffing tube on the veles and toasted the flex shaft. What would you recommend I replace it with?
I'm about to put a .187 cable in mine with the stock 1/4 stuffing tube no linner (same size as the sonicwake fex)

One of your vidios you were using some kind of flex shaft tool to work on motors and mounts, where did you find that tool to use,I cant find one anywhere, havent tried harbor freight yet, 😅
I got the flex shaft from harbor freight, but use a craftsman multi tool screwdriver handle. 33 Piece Precision Screwdriver Set a.co/d/cYJvW6Y

Yea, I like to back off the steering dual rate reduces steering throw
What makes zipkits cable upgrade over flex cable from proboat?
The stub shaft to cable connection is better/ stronger. The cable heavy duty

Stuffing tube Lining? Does this upgrade remove the need for the stuffing tube inner lining? Is that the stock colett? and is that the stock size drive dog? If not, where can I find them? Appreciate your vidz.
HD .187 flex from ose, no need to remove the Teflon liner flex is the same size as stock.. I ended up upgrading my coupler later on 5mm to .187...

It is a fail point, in order to remove the liner you'll need to install a 1/4 inch stuffing tube
Thanks for the quick reply’s big b@@IRONCLADRC. My final question is you use epoxies on fiberglass, is there a similar fix to hold tube on the sonics plastic hull? And how can you remove any epoxy solutions if needed in future for repairs.
Just got my coupler from ose part #81518 looks like it will be the ticket to fly will review after I install and run. Peace by the way the sonic wake and impulse 32 seem to be the same I had the upgraded cable from ose for my impulse 32 however it seemed to long so iswaped the sonic wake it was perfect install the other on the sonic and udjused the tfl stinger and bam d o n peace brother

I can't figure out my steering after updating new servo. Something isn't adding up. Can you help ?
Did you zero the steering trim out before installing the servo arm? If you didn't remove servo arm and zero the trim, then install arm. And make sure the rudder is lined up with the keel ..
Explain rudder lined up with keel?
Rubber blade needs to be in line straight with the center line of the hull..
Have you tried silver solder?
Oh yea that's what I'm using at the moment for electrical applications, I use cheap solder for flex cable

It's actually the stock connector. Ose has them in stock
whats that red thing you have where the stuffing tube goes?
It's a piece of silicone cooling tube stretched over the stuffing tube as a replacement

Hey Big B! What did you use to replace that stupid stuffing tube grommet on the sonicwake v2? Mine tube keeps rotating with the shaft ever so slightly causing stuffing tube heat and that grommet is expanding because of it? Thanks
I used a piece of xl silicone cooling line stretched onto the stuffing tube. Guess any thick tube will work just need to make sure the flex cable meets up to the collet nice
@IRONCLAD RC set everything up really nice last night perfect alignment in my eyes haha it literally moved 1mm or 2 and that was enough haha thanks Big B you are always so helpful, also got 74 on bj24 this morning after my stuffing tube redo you also helped me with!!!!

@IRONCLAD RC i dnt think ima beat 76 haha i tried all end if last season lol my boat dont like the 42 high rake from oxidean, i could never get it to work eight with my boat, then i lost the shaft and the prop haha, ive using a dasboata prop for the recoil 2 which i think is a 1616 or 1618 abc prop

Motor alignment, or Teflon liner is binding up . It could also be the drive dog to close or butted up the the strut
