- The Sacramento Kings made a splash this off season by signing Sasha Vezenkov, reigning MVP of the Euroleague, to a contract. Coming off a solid 48 win season, does he put them over the top in the cut throat Western Conference?? Coach Nick breaks down his game and how he can fit with Mike Brown's Princeton Offense based attack.

Always a treat when bball breakdown talks about the kings
Off-Ball Movement Master. I will miss him as a Euroleague fan.
It feels like most NBA analysts are criticizing the Kings off-season and sleeping on this pickup. Vezenkov has good size and a lightening quick release. He's going to feast off of Sabonis DHOs and cuts to the basket. Glad the Kings maintained flexibility for the future by not overpaying guys like Jerami Grant and Kuzma and added some potentially nice pieces with Vezenkov and Duarte on team-friendly deals.
Well 99% of NBA Analysts are nerds and never even got real playing time when they played in high school. They don’t actually understand the game, they just look at numbers and percentages on a paper.
We all know the real reason why he’s slept on
💯
If you realized both Grant and Kuzma are RFAs, there was no way for the Kings to nab them at the price their respective teams wanted them back for. So yes the Kings were operating in a reality that they already worked to get their core pieces already around Fox (Domas the play making big, Huerter the moving shooter) and vets and young guys (Barnes, Monk, Keegan Murray, Vezenkov) to see if they are part of this playoff future.
@@t4d0W Grant and Kuzma were unrestricted according to spotrac.
I have been telling people at my work this pickup is going to be a huge impact for the Kings!! He fits perfectly in their offense, and will bring another veteran presence and a certified winner that the young Kings need! The West is going to be tough though
He played with that guy from that channel called players choice can you believe that
His name is Shaq or some
Something
Shaquielle Mckissik
Coach i think you should consider starting breaking down euroleague games this season
Awesome graphics on this one coach, his shooting will really help the kings
I think, what makes Vezenkov unique is his extremely quick release and movement without the ball. He took plenty of uncontested 3Ps which is a very rare thing in Europe. With the wider court in the NBA, teams would have a nightmare with the way Fox and Big Dom spread defences. And if Sasha manages to get close to 40-41% from downtown, I believe, he can become a key player and a candidate for best 6th player in the League.
Light the beam. Lot of mainstream sleeping in Sacramento.
Coach Nick always doin it right
To me, it seems like going after MVP-level players in other leagues should be way more common. Yeah, it’s a worse league, but compared to some of the veteran players, lottery pick busts, one-dimensional role players etc… that keep getting deals, kinda seems like a no-brainer.
But it could still easily be true that the gap between the leagues is actually that large
Thing is sometimes the context of an MVP level player in a lesser league may not exactly translate well in the NBA. Luka was the absolute exception in terms of his youth and individual talent as the MVP in 17-18 and heading into the NBA draft. Jan Vesely was the MVP in 18-19 and he's a former NBA top pick. Vasilie Micic who was MVP in 20-21 just signed with the Thunder this year. And Nikola Mirotic (sounds familiar?) was the MVP in 21-22.
@@t4d0W yeah, that’s fair
He was MVP of the Euroleague or the Greek League? If he was the MVP of Euroleague that’s impressive as hell. Euroleague is probably the 2nd 3rd best competition in the world behind the NBA.
@@WidgetWagyu47292 he was euroleague MVP...and euroleague without any competition 2nd best league in the world
@@WidgetWagyu47292NBA has become softer than the euroleague. In olympiakos vesenkov biggest problem was that he was soft. There is a good chance that his game will fit very well with the kings.
i love watching my team olympiakos on ur videos , i am a sub cause i love ur game analitics, but my man u said that in his cuts he might have bigger problem vs the bigs in nba , ofc nba bigs are more athletic but they have the 3 second rule for defence aswell there, in euroleague some of the bigs just park in the paint
LIGHT THE BEAM! Let's go Sasha!! Much love from Cyprus
Bro I swear most GMs are sleeping. Like fam your team and my team should have signed him seconds into free agency. Dude is literally perfect for today's NBA
See this is why I dont under stand modern fans, they say a guy like this is perfect for todays NBA, but bob petite and Rick Barry would struggle?
Its easier to score and harder to defend now a days🤷🏾♂️
Other teams actually couldn’t sign him, kings own his draft rights so only they can unless he wants to stay in Europe
@@JohnnyRodgers3it’s not any harder to defend in the shot clock era, teams just elect to not focus on it. The game is less physical but also less consistently called by refs.
@@selfishstockton6123it‘s also that teams nowadays are actually completely spacing out the floor when back in the day everything seems to cramp up in the paint or around. Popovich clearly left a mark in todays NBA. The style follows the international basketball playing style.
@@selfishstockton6123 i think it's definitely harder to defend in todays era,
More complex offensive schemes
Significantly more spacing compared to the 60s-90s era
Players can carry, travel and offensive foul now...but defenders dont get the same amount of leeway as the offense does
Big men can't camp in the paint
The league has gotten more efficient from 3 wich means the threat of the 3 pointer is more dangerous...
No double hand checking
Etc...
It's much more difficult to defend teams in todays league
If you were to drop a super star from the 60s or 70s in todays league...they'd be far more efficient and productive on the offense end..and the majority of their struggles would've would come from the defensive end as they are now handicapped by the league...and vice versa
Giannises Defensive I'mpact would increase greatly if he played in the 60s, but the way they called the game back then...there's no doubt he'd suffer on the offensive end...unless he made adjustments
Can we just take a minute and appreciate the Euro coaching and offensive schemes?
nice buy but what is really needed is a true defender in my opinion, it's nice to see some eurolegue talent being shipped in the nba, let's see how it will work next season... i think could really be a great fit in sacramento.
I was a point guard at a pro level in europe until i injured both my achillies. The main reason my coach gave to justify holding my follow trough was to get easy calls from defenders who were careless. It doesn't affect your shot and add extra time and space for you to get fouled.
You know Frankie Ferrari?
@@jamesmccaul2945 good one but Frankie is a real person.
I love that Sacramento aren't settling and continue to push for success 🔥
Nice video! Always like then you analyze players from euroleague
Offense was never a struggle for last year's kings, they needed defense
i saw a lot of travels on the catch and it’s all because of you coach!
Euroleague comentators called him "Mr Perfect" all the time. That is almost his nickname. Also he was 2nd rebounder of the league. What he lacks in jump compensates with timing and thinking.
Been waiting for you to cover this coach!
Great analysis, coach! We're excited to see what last season's Europe's best can bring to the NBA
💯
ty for this video keep up the good work
I can see him participating at the NBA All-Star 3-point contests
Nah he's not a classic shooter, he just has confidence and good mentality in a very well-oiled machine like Olympiakos that believed in him
@@TMPOUZI Fact
Is he eligible for rookie of the year? If he is then hes def a darkhorse ROTY
That is Ben Simmons award. He'll win it this year. He just needs to shoot 1 3 pointer.
Hey Coach! Any live streams on the schedule for the near future? Great content here as well thanks as always.
He's shooting is like of Klay Thompson. Excited to see him play in the NBA!
It's like golf. Holding your finish isn't necessary. But it tells the story and helps if you are trying to learn something.
Thanks for the content, Coach!
Vezenkov is a huge addition, can't wait to see him im action!
Hi Coach, since teams need to DEFEND a knockdown shooter who is moving constantly, it opens up other players too as switches must be made. So, it should be fun to see how Sasha fits in with the Kings. Yeah, defensive liability is an issue that needs to be seen. His stroke reminds me a bit of HOF Chris Mullin. Thanks !
the beam shall never dim
He seems like a new age version of Peja.
Luka is more of a new age Peja. I'll be surprised if Sasha ends up more than an improvement on Bjelica
As a kings fan I can speak for all of us when I say, WE ARE PUMPED FOR THIS NEXT SEASON
lookin like the kings of the early 2000s coming back , i like it, hopefully the lakers dont pay the refs this time around !
As a kings fan, I’m kinda lucky not much attention is being given from the media on this monster pickup. Kings gotta hit the ground running this season ✊🏼
Looks like the WCF matchup is all set: Kings vs Nuggets. The Kings depth is freaking stacked. I honestly cant see this team getting eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round.
This guy is that guy!!
Great content! Liked and subscribed
we will be checking him out
We teach kids to fix the hand to develop the correct mechanics to complete the throw. when mechanics is a habit, fixing the hand is not necessary, but still useful.
Keegan is improving now they added Vezenkov.
C - Sabonis
F - Keegan
F - Vezenkov
G - Huerter
G - Fox
Lyles, Monk, Barnes, Mitchell, Duarte
Deep 10 man rotation
Last euro mvp was named Luca that was drafted
He looks like very 2k stretch bug build ever which more of a compliment tbh let’s see how he does defensively
The NBA are getting two Euroleague MVPs and champions this season.
With Sasha Vezenkov going to the kings and Vasilije Micić going to the Thunder.
We will just see how it all works out overall.🏀
Kings, have know, a great asset on their team
Okc picked up 2 time mvp euro league guy as well
If the jumper ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Nice break down. Hope he gets impactful minutes or it will just be spotty up and down production
1:57 why did the ball get animated?
i believe his cutting to the basket can be lethal with the 3 second rule in the nba!
Exactly!!
Bazinga Vezenkov 🔥🔥🔥
You have to know yourself well to have a flick-release shot like that. So i think holding your form after shooting is fine, for a second or so.
Coach Nick
You love the hop into 3 and watching the ball after the release
What do you feel watching the ball adds to a shooter?
This is from your great interview with Steve Kerr
Is the video at a faster speed then the actual footage!!!????
uh oh.. why do u ask??
If the Dubs won in 2022 because of a similar video about Jordan Poole prior to that season, I believe the Kings can win it this year. They're basically the younger version of GS.
Yeah a younger version without a guy who can dump 50 buckets in a do or die situation. But without that guy for the Warriors they wouldn't have become household names for over 5 years now.
LOL - well, I certainly called that one! We'll see...
@@bballbreakdown I just realized how different he is from Poole in terms of situation. Vezenkov was Euroleague MVP while Poole was a young rising star who played for the terrible Warriors when Curry and Klay were out.
A 6,9 Kay Thompson from Bulgaria
Yes.
Coach, is it safe to say that defense in Euroleague is way harder than that in NBA? And how you can compare tight spacing + less athletic defense players in Euroleague VS more athletic players but in wider spacing in NBA? Why Luka Doncic scores only 20 pt (last game for Greece) and he can score for Mavericks 35-40pt ?
Similar experience for Jokic. If Sasha score 30pt in Euroleague finals how that would translate in NBA for the Kings?
Is the three-point line the same in the Euro league is it is in the NBA?
To make it simple for everyone. A Bojan Bogdanovic with better off ball movement and worse defender!
Man the Warriors are perfect for this guy. Definitely a major upgrade, better Bjelica. But hey he will play to the diet Warriors though
This is good recruitment for Kings. He will replace Huerter who played awful in playoffs
The west is already stacked.
Good.
Solid 8 ppg
That's all you need on this team they're stacked
I'm starting to understand layers of the game. Better late than never. 😂
Another video on AntMan?
Coach, could you make a video on how you think the warriors will fair with Chris Paul please ?
yeah the team that had the best regular season offense ever and no defense needs a shooter that cant play defense
Defence isn't needed nowadays in the league
@@TMPOUZI Except the NBA champs in the last decade all won playing some measure of the best defense in the playoffs. Yes including the Nuggets who already had the size matchup vs the smaller Heat team. Kings were cute to do a load of scoring in the series but couldn't do shit when Steph dropped 50 on the Kings heads in game 7. Meanwhile Fox had to concede defeat putting up a sad 16.
@@t4d0W any team can play defense as long as the coach have plays for that and players focus on it. 100+ points matches in a playoff series says to me that this league simply don't want to do it
Muy likeo: Winner
Im pretty sure hes a starter day 1
He could easily add some low post moves to his bag. After seeing some of the footage, this is a huge problem. I think it's one of the easier things to add though. It just looks like it's an afterthought the way he plays.
Offensively, Vezenkov is like a clone of Klay Thomson, albeit taller and slower.
Defensively, he may struggle.
He’s a stretch four with no finishing badges😂😂
Go kings
If they can hide him on d they will extremely good
edi Wow
Can he play defense?
Not likely against NBA players
@@silewis9396 Not like the kings play defense anyways I guess that's not going to be their strategy moving forward with mb...just run and gun & fast pace
People are already sleeping on the Kings. They saying we got lucky last year, that we won't improve and that we did nothing in the off-season. We getting that 2 seed.
LOL the Kings got the 3rd seed and were indeed lucky to draw the Warriors with the 6th seed. Be careful what you wish for because the Grizz were happy to get their 2nd seed. Then drew into one of the play-in winners which was the Lakers with the 7th seed. I knew then the Grizz weren't going to enjoy that match up.
hello
Holding the follow through is obviously not doing anything. You've let go of the ball so nothing you do can affect it
Any dude named Sasha in the NBA is guaranteed to be good but come 2nd in the finals.
Wonder where he’s gonna get minutes on this Kings team
Sasha and Trey are Keegan's backup but Trey is also the small ball backup for Sabonis so Sasha could get 12-18 minutes a game.
@@briangoodner8680 they just got nerlens too
Well it just shows ya how deep this Sacramento roster is.
looks like a bench larry bird
SHort answer, no, they wont, lets be real guys
Definitely a face-up guy that moves without the ball like Reggie Miller. Catch-and-shoot wiz. How's his passing though?
What will impress you the most isn't his scoring and he kinda sucks in D. But you'll witness premium cutting off ball and him being a great teammate. As long as the coach uses him, he'll leave a mark
So he doesn't get a lot of assists - and he's fine at it - every once in a while he can uncork some good vision but nothing crazy
Another low budget matrix nba player
Those on-court billboard screens is both distracting and ugly AF. I hope the NBA never does that.
lol - I love the ones that look 3D
look at his FG%!!!!
Hello
i swear lefties only have like 3 jumpshot animations availabe for them to use
Final position and posing doesn't cause a good shot, it's the result of. Same in golf.
Makes sense. Vezenkov style is just the result of a quick release effort on his side
@@TMPOUZI there you go 👍 if i hit a pure long iron out of the middle and i know i can expect to see it peel off with the right trajectory, slightly right to left draw and long I'll hold that follow through like a pro on camera with thousands of spectators to admire me, whilst my drinking buddy stands there saying "not bad" 🤣
Lefty klay Thompson
Bro reaching too hard, he’s not Doncic
Another spot up shooter that can’t guard the perimeter…
If this guys is what a team needs to win a championship, how can a player like dolph shayes or Bob Petit not play in today league??
Kings still have barnes. The worst choker in the league.
He's a lefty too? Kings winning the chip
He's like a lefty dolph shayes
I remember when Raptors signed Anthony Parker, 2 time Euroleague MVP. He was good but didn't exactly change Raptors fortunes that much. I would say equating him to a serviceable NBA starter on some teams would be all.
Luka was a Euroleague MVP tho
