      Wow, that is a career ending video. Such a smart player should be able to adapt in any environment. Especially the most efficient and probably 2022-2023 MVP player. It's like saying that for example Steph Curry is excellent for NBA but would fail in Euroleague. Nonsense.

    Vezenkovs biggest strength is the ability to score without having the ball.The brand of basketball the Kings are playing is all body and ball movement.Vezenkov is an excellent cutter and spot up shooter.Offensively thats the best situation you can put him in and could find himself getting big paychecks and being a rotation player in a contending team.Your only doubts should be if he can stay on the floor cause of his defense but if he can then its a no brainer he should go cause the offensive skillset Vezenkov brings to a team as a role player is exactly what every NBA team looks for in 2023

      Kevon Looney is a rebounding machine in GSW, but doesn't shine with anything else (smart player, good fit, but doesn't score and it is definitely one-way player). In Euroleague, Vezenkov is the second best rebounder! I could not imagine how Sasha is poor defender? Where that narrative comes from? More over, to be the most efficient player (PIR) that basically means either you are phenomenal offensive player and thus the lack of defense doesn't hurt you, or more probable - you are very good at both ends of the floor, so you not only score, but rebound, steal, doesn't turnover and also do assists.

    • @sethrockwood
      @sethrockwood Год назад +2

      @@JulianBG Looney is also a superb defender and can guard 1 through 5, and a solid passer who doesn't turn the ball over (check his assist to turn over ratio) Hes not flashy, and he doesn't space the floor, but he fits in GSW because they already have enough shooting that they can get away with it. IN spite of his strengths, the warriors generally keep only 1 of Loony, or Dremond on the floor at a time (outside of the first 5 min of the game) because of spacing issues.
      With the kings already having Sabonis on the floor, i don't think they can afford to have a second big that cant guard on the perimeter. The warriors relentlessly hunted Sabonis in pick and roll and it was a major factor in the warriors winning the series. If Vexenkov cant guard wings and guards on switches on the perimeter, he is going to have a hard time getting consistent playing time on most teams. If he is able to defend at an nba level, he may well be a future all star. His offensive game looks excellent, but i have concerns about his athleticism at the nba level

    I honestly think Vezenkov would be a great fit on the Sacramento Kings. He’s exactly what they would need. Vezenkov is a great shooter, but he’s also a great rebounder. If he only played 15-22 minutes off the bench, I don’t think that would be a bad think. The Kings have one or two players coming off the bench that could start on half the teams in the NBA. (Malik Monk & Davion Mitchell) if you added Vezenkov, the Kings could be immediate championship contenders. The current Sacramento Kings Coach Mike Brown, is known for being a players coach and has coached Lebron, Kobe, & Curry just to name a few. Plus Mike Brown also coached the Nigerian National team and has experience coaching against World Competition. Chimezi Metu is a great example, he’s played a vital role for the Kings success this year, and played with Brown on the Nigerian National team. The Kings might even willing overpay Vezenkov because they know they need to entice him to leave his current team to come to the NBA; and the Kings management and the fans are 100% ok with that. The Kings are one or two pieces away from being Championship contenders, Vezenkov is literally exactly what the Kings need to take the next step, and could be a vital role as a starter or a bench player. I think it’s worth thinking about how teams could utilize his abilities the best, and why the Kings could be a perfect fit. A fast guard in Fox who can collapse defense’s and kick the ball out to open shooters. Playing next to a European big man in Sabonis who can pass as well as any big man in league, while being able to score almost at will. Playing with other great shooters like Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, Trey Lyles, and Keegan Murray who will help space the floor and open shooters up. All those things help Vezenkov and utilize him. Plus I think Sasha Vezenkov can pass the ball better than his stats show, so he fits every mold the Kings want. His defense may leave some things to be desired, but if he buys in to team defense, that’s all that matters. I say this summer he might be considering coming to the NBA more than he ever has before.

    I'm really excited to see him play in that Sacramento system. If he was signed to any other NBA team I'd be a bit more concerned about his fit in the league but I think Sacramento is a great fit. A core group of Fox, Sabonis, Vezenkov, Mitchell, Murray, Monk and Huerter will be great fun to watch. Good luck to the pairing for sure!

    Harrison Barnes played the 4 position for the Sacramento Kings. He was used for getting 3pt shots through the motion offense, occasionally driving to the basket, and periodically posting up. Vezenkov would be a better 3pt shooter. He would be better cutting to the basket, and could also post up. The Kings could make adjustments to give him the best matchup defensively to where he wouldn't be a liability. He could easily be a 15pt and 8 reb a game player, maybe even better. I would think that would be shining. (I also think he would push Sacramento to the #1 spot in their converence)

      You didn’t watch much Sacramento basketball this past season. HB wasn’t just a spot up shooter and occasionally a diver. Honestly, a lot of his magic came from the key. ISO PF on the block, mid-range, long ball, and excellent on the fast break. He guns it and has the ability to euro-step so sexily. I watched all games that weren’t nationally-televised.

    • @briangoodner8680

      FYI: HB plays the 3, and Keegan the 4. Sasha would backup Keegan. The main difference in the modern era is 3's are more versatile defenders due to their quicker lateral movement and flipping of the hips. Keegan can slide over and play some 3, Sasha's feet are too slow.

    I agree, he doesn't have the athleticism to compete in the NBA, he certainly has the talent though. If he works out and improves that aspect of himself then he can surely be great...
    But it's a shame that all the good EU players eventually end up in the NBA, we should find ways to counter this otherwise we'll end up a second rate league with mainly unathletic players that can't play overseas? We also need to better focus on producing athletic players, it has undoubtedly become an integral part of the game. Bigger budgets could also help with this, as we know the amount of money a player can earn in the NBA is many times greater.
    So, if Vezenkov gets a "role" in the NBA, so be it (but he needs to find the right team). I just hope he doesn't end up like Mamukelashvili (a unique talent), while on the Bucks he barely played 5 minutes and disappeared...Only now that he went to the Spurs has he gotten a somewhat bigger role and minutes.
    🏀✊

    I am a Kings fan and have been keeping tabs on Vezenkov all season. Completely in my wheelhouse of player but regardless the man is extremely skilled. I think the topic of rope to which older europeans jumping over will be given for their role is worthwhile. Would Vezenkov suffer a dip in production by having sets not end in his hands, likely. That said I put major caveats on the concerns especially factoring the team with his rights. His production is scheme specific but extremely unreliant on usage all factors that bode well. The fact he can make wise reads adds to aiding five man unit sets.
    Obviously the NBA has more ISO sets, but I not only think thats changing, but also in the kings case few possessions are dependent on ending with the primary initiators. Sabonis is full stop choreographing almost everything in the halfcourt but not for his own shots. Sasha navigating DHO's and cutting is exactly what their offense prioritizes. The likes of Huerter have vaulted production by simply following Domas's pendulum and playing on a swivel or drifting to open space created by Fox's penetration. The same is true to a degree of their rookie Murray (whose game reminds me a bit of Sasha's along with Barnes as 3/4s). Considering Vezenkov's adeptness offball he falls square with what they are currently doing. A fact also in their willingness to run for outlets which he's also great at. Its as about as good of a fit as he could hope for.
    I think the comparison to Melli and Mirotic are interesting but with clear differences. Melli was engaging player and one I was excited in making the jump from his size and playmaking more than anything, but he also was dependent on usage for that creation. An NBA allowing someone to be a undersized post creator to dictate sets is a big ask even with 2nd units. Mirotic by all intensive purposes was a very good NBA player who made good money and simply chose to go back to europe prematurely to his production level in the NBA. To me his more apt player profiles though are maybe Bojan Bogdanovic or Joe Ingles. If he replicated a similar production as those two (Ingles highpoints) He could make north of 50 million over his prime in the league. I think that's totally in the realm of possibility.

    Great breakdown. I agree 99%. I would say, however, that he might be a 4/5 in the NBA. In other words, he might play mostly backup 4, with a few minutes at small ball 5, just like Lyles and Metu. 20 years ago, they would have been small forwards that maybe played a little power forward. In today's NBA, they are mostly stretch fours that play as much 5 as they do 3. Which isn't much.
    It's all about switching on Defense in the NBA. If you can't switch, you might not even get to play backup 5. That's what happened to Richaun Holmes. He couldn't switch effectively. He found himself out of the rotation completely, despite being the best backup Center on the team, and a guy who is not a bad starting center. But his Defense doesn't fit the modern NBA.
    If Sasha can't play average Defense at some position (most likely stretch 4), then he'll have an extremely difficult time staying on the floor.

    Why do u make it sound like being a role player is not a good thing? If we are being real, Vezenkov will be a backup forward who can space the floor and come off of off ball screens for threes on if we are looking at the Kings’ current roster. What’s wrong with that? That’s still really valuable. Do you want an NBA team to give him superstar roles or something? This just reeks of entitlement.

    • @ConcaCon
      @ConcaCon Год назад

      Exactly, guys like Mirotic and Bjelica were solid role players as well. Ideally a stretch four in the NBA, Vezenkov could score on cuts, pick and pops, spotting up, coming off screens, even a few putbacks. Any coach who just puts him in the corner would waste his talents. It's not unreasonable to think he could average 10-12 points on decent efficiency. That quick release could negate a lot of close-outs.

      @@vitorst4281 For starters the Kings may not be Contenders but they are not mediocre. Add the age curve and they could be on the way up. Now tied to role in the NBA I think there is a balance. If Sasha is under 15 minutes per I get the hesitancy even if the money's better. That said the possibility of him fetching around 15 per on 20+ minutes a night is also in the realm of reason. A fact that likely offers him a chance for generational wealth contractually compared to Europe.
      I also think he is someone that would welcome a diminished role for a winning team that plays an unselfish brand. The Kings are currently that with a lot of players having career years by being adept offball. There's also the point of seeing that level of competition being enticing.

    I think Sasha can be successful in the league if he plays to his strengths. Movement without the ball, quick spot up shooting and getting rebounds. But he is only a four in the NBA. And with the King’s, he will be a good fit. But we will need to get an athletic small forward or center.

    Nba teams will only allow unathletic players to be stars if they can pass. Realistically Vezenkov could be a volume shooter or cutter like Bertans or Duncan Robinson

      Well Vezenkov can pass, his role in Olympiacos is just not it. They have a lot of passers, like Sloukas and Walkup, Vezenkov role is different

      @@Bosa_na_kokosa he’s not a primary or secondary playmaker and that hurts his stock. Similar to how mirotic peaked as a stretch 4 or 3rd option scorer

    Super inadequate analysis... Dude is getting boards on defense and offense all the time. Knowing that in Europe they play significantly more and better defense than in NBA should speak for itself. Also Kings is top 3 if not the best fit for Vezenkov as player, having great post-up and fast break play opening spaces for 3s and cuts

    The NBA is currently built on Scoring guards, and 3 and d wings. IF Vezenkov can play Defense, their are a lot of teams that would fit. IF he is a liability on defense against NBA wings, then he wont fit. Most of the NBA teams already have at least 1 guard that is lacking on defense and the wings have to make up for it (Lillard, Doncic, Steph, Fox, CJ McCullum, Kyree, Tre, Westbrook, and the list goes on) What they all have in common is they are the week link on their teams defense, and the teams that are successful have extremally good defensive wings in positions 2, 3, and 4. In order for Vezenkov to be successful in the current NBA, he has to be playable on the defensive end against NBA guard and wing speed, and just judging by the clips I've seen, I'm not sure he has the athleticism to do that.

    I mean he can also improve ? I think you guys are forgetting the fact than he can work on the system and his weaknesses. He's been improving every year since he's started, why can't he do it in an NBA environment?

    No doubt he could score but the question is can he defend atleast average enough in the nba. And the kings are a rly good Offensive team that can score from anywhere, but they were bottom 5 in Defense. Kings needs defenders who can score.

    I’m telling you guys Vezenkov has no idea how amazing, insane and fun it would’ve been to play in Sacramento. There is no city like this with regards to fan energy. At this point with his injuries and reluctance he’s missing out on being a historical figure in the NBA.
