My wife and I ended up checking this place out last month and it was amazing! We chatting with the son of the owner and he was a super sweet guy. Just a heads up for those planning to visit, please don't go into it filming or taking pictures of everyone inside. They've had issues with vloggers recently and it's gotten out of hand with folks being super rude and uncivil. That’s just Scotland! Yesterday I went round to see my 104 year old neighbour to give her Christmas presents for herself, her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. I actually ended up staying the whole day and stayed for supper and a few drinks.
Awww that hug at the end where Josh was like "I'm so thankful to be alive, Ollie. I'm so happy" legit made me tear up. That was such a sweet moment. Imagine wandering around with your best friend, eating amazing food, and seeing a double rainbow.

Am I the only one who’s happy that fate always intervene and leads them to the rightful path of delicious food instead of the michelin star restaurants? Because tbh the best review a shop could get is by word of mouth and scottish people just point them to the best local places and its THE BEST EVER
Yes! It's like yeah, sure, you expect a Michelin star restaurant to be good. But there's something special about finding a great local, traditional food place.
I just read your update, and I'm honestly devastated. I was watching the episode, thinking how much I really need to go there, and then immediately afterward get hit with the news that it's gone. I know you said he's selling the recipes, but we all know that if 100 different chefs make the same dish, from the same ingredients, from the same instructions, they'd end up with 100 different (although similar) tastes. So much more went into those pies! From his skills, to his ovens, to his local connections to get the right ingredients fresh from the farms . . . and now the perfect combination of circumstances that led to the experience you had, will be no more. That's really, really sad.
I just watched this for the first time and same reaction. I’m so sad, even though I live in Canada and it is unlikely I’d have been able to get there. What a loss.

That is really sad that David has to close down shop :( He seemed like a genuinely nice guy with a love for great pies. Those pies looked absolutely stunning... and that is me saying that as a vegetarian.
This has convinced us to visit this bakery. We are planning a trip to Scotland in early fall and planned to visit Stirling Castle. We will have to drive a little further north and have lunch.
this video here cements my view that the chemistry between you two is something worth more than all the gold in the world. thoroughly enjoyed this mates.
I have never been more jealous of wanting to try something to eat in my life. The crust on the pastries looks like they were made by Wolfgang puck. We do not have meat pies in Texas and I am dying to try one now. I may have to just try and make some myself.
The concept of savoury pies - or just pies in general - is not that popular in Germany, but when I was on a holiday in Wales, I basically survived on mushroom pies - I loved them. Never tried steak pie though - since I love steak, I might need to try that sometime. The family was rather skeptical about British food (sorry guys, but the rep is not the best), but I actually enjoyed most of it - and they were positively surprised as well.
I generally find that those who don't have a positive perspective on British food have either never eaten any and are going on a stereotype they've heard, or have only eaten what is sold at overpriced tourist spots. British food, especially home-cooked by a British mum, is some of the best, most hearty food in the world. It's all about comfort. You could eat any British dish as comfort food.
Best pie’s I’ve ever had was in a small pub in North Wales just outside Betwys-Y-Coed in Snowdonia. I’m from south Wales and we were on holiday there a few years ago staying at my friends rental cottage. We had wanted to eat at a different restaurant but they were jam packed and a local came over and suggested we visit the ‘Pieminister’ at this lowly pub just up the mountain. We went in not expecting much but my god were we wrong !! It’s the best pie we’ve ever tasted ANYWHERE. My husband had steak and ale and I had Chicken, ham and leek pie, and the Chicken was out of this world, the Steak was superb but the Chicken was just beyond amazing. We met the Pieminister who was an elderly lady who handmade them everyday herself. She told us that the recipes were past onto her grandchildren who would be able to make them when she could no longer do so - so thank goodness for that ! We went back and had dinner there again on our last night as even our sons preferred the pies to everything else we could’ve had…
You know everything is good when the pie guy was asked which was his favorite, he said tbh all of them are nice. Its like when they went to the burger place and the guy was like nah man theres no signature they're all very good.
2 plans in a row get canceled yet a more magical experience is created if the Chef didn't bail on them in the first place, the butcher lady wouldn't tell them about her friend and the pie shop
this is one my fave jolly vids and i just saw the update on the description that they had to sell the recipes because they had to shut down the shop because of covid and i feel a bit sad even though i never even got to try it. there's something about going and coming back to a place only to get that thing, makes it super special, but i'm glad they also wanted to share it to more people. share the pie joy and love. i hope the people who made the recipes are thriving now

The bench you’re sitting on says “Alba Gu Bràth” which means Scotland Forever 🏴 I feel so proud seeing you visit Scotland!!!
Honestly, seeing all the comments and all the positive messages about Scotland makes my heart flutter. Thank you for making this series! Looking forward to future episodes!
Would legit love to watch you guys travelling everywhere in Europe
I’d just add… in the world. ✌🏼
100%!
They went to Norway once, I can't remember if it was in this channel or KE but it's there somewhere.
they did like one episode in Greece that was super
That is really sad that David has to close down shop :(
He seemed like a genuinely nice guy with a love for great pies. Those pies looked absolutely stunning... and that is me saying that as a vegetarian.
Why did he close down?!

This has convinced us to visit this bakery. We are planning a trip to Scotland in early fall and planned to visit Stirling Castle. We will have to drive a little further north and have lunch.
Joel having a religious experience with the steak pie was hilarious 💀💀
Ollie: "Josh, take a bite quickly!"
Josh: *takes a bite in slowmotion*
You know it’s ridiculously delicious when Ollie instinctively pulled away from Josh reaching for the pie~
I'm crying, this is so beautiful. The complete joy you all are having in these pies.
this video here cements my view that the chemistry between you two is something worth more than all the gold in the world. thoroughly enjoyed this mates.
I love the joy on their faces after tasting the pies. And the end is super sweet.
I love how Joel had his first sausage roll in the Korean Englishman Sonny video to now having the best in the world in Scotland! What great friends!
Tempted to risk the gluten sensitivity just to have this experience. You guys make everything sound so good. Loving this series.
I have never been more jealous of wanting to try something to eat in my life. The crust on the pastries looks like they were made by Wolfgang puck. We do not have meat pies in Texas and I am dying to try one now. I may have to just try and make some myself.
I love how the end is so wholesome ♥ You guys deserve all the best in the world
It is just so wholesome. I love this series so so much. It gives me hope, joy, faith. Wow. Thank you!
Oh I love mushroom and steak pies
You should have tried them all
@@bethyngalw I'm American and there is good food in the UK.
They’re actually fighting over the food. That food must be so good.
David if your reading this, don't let that talent go to waste 👏 hope u can start another business again 🏴🏴
New to the channel ☺️ and proud that you're showing Scotland and it's beauty. Enjoy lads and subscribed
So chuffed the way Jolly are presenting Scotland, showing our wee hidden gems.
it broke my heart to know David had to close down the shop 😢 I literally wanted to plan a whole trip to Scotland just for the pie
Jolly, did you realize they put a link to the video and channel on their website. Now that's cool.
You know everything is good when the pie guy was asked which was his favorite, he said tbh all of them are nice. Its like when they went to the burger place and the guy was like nah man theres no signature they're all very good.
seeing a new video from Jolly makes my day so much better
same
i haven't had my dinner and watching this makes me hungrier. this vid also makes me want to travel there in the future. loving the HP bgm anw 😂
This place was on my bucket list. Sad to hear they closed down.
I'm so heartbroken to read that this place has closed - I was ready to make the Piegrimage.
Those pies look awesomeee! Look at those golden crusts. The chef was also super chill. I really wanna taste those pies🤧
2 plans in a row get canceled yet a more magical experience is created
if the Chef didn't bail on them in the first place, the butcher lady wouldn't tell them about her friend and the pie shop
That's two plans in a row, the universe is telling you where to go to meet all these wonderful people.
I just discovered you on You Tube. You two are adorable and funny as hell! I've binged on you today and will continue tomorrow!! Love it!!
this is one my fave jolly vids and i just saw the update on the description that they had to sell the recipes because they had to shut down the shop because of covid and i feel a bit sad even though i never even got to try it.
there's something about going and coming back to a place only to get that thing, makes it super special, but i'm glad they also wanted to share it to more people. share the pie joy and love. i hope the people who made the recipes are thriving now
the pie guy really just took the shirt crumbled, put it on, and gave the best pies to Jolly lol
Never judge a book by its cover! 😁
"Let's Lady and the Tramp it"
Ollie sure knows how to do fanservice 😏
I wonder how well prepared that shop is for the surge of customers they are going to get after this video ?
If I lived in GB I would be planning my trip. Absolutely.
Yeah definitely planning to go here one day!
I literally just ate a pie from this place I live not 10 minutes away from there
