I wouldn't have said this 10 years ago, but, I've been following them more and more closely since 2019, and have been quite astonished by the latest performance they made during their current tour.
Today, they are definitively at the top, even above Iron Maiden (which was something impossible for me to even consider like 5 years ago from now)

    • @MoreAwsomeMetal
      @MoreAwsomeMetal 11 месяцев назад +2

@@michaeldean7220 Yes it's kind of sad. I saw them this summer for the 1rst time since 2017, and they have really aged in such few years. I could feel a drop in the energy. Dickinson still holds the most power, McBrain and Harris are still holding the pace, but Gers, Smith and Murray are just like they're not going to make it to the end of the show...
Their latest album was also a huge deception, one of the less inspired I've heard from them.
They have played such astonishing shows between their 2000 reunion and before the Covid, even seeing Metallica during the 2003/2010 era seemed a step under Maiden for me...
Until I saw Metallica in 2019 on the day following my brother's wedding, where I suddenly realized how I underestimated these guys. And after the Covid, this year on the 72 Season Tour, seeing them for 2 days in a row, I was mind blown.
I suddenly realized they always were the #1 metal band of all time
      Above Maiden
      Above Motorhead
      Above Black Sabbath
They are the embodiment of the Spirit of Metal, and still a humble band that makes loads of mistakes on stage, and that aren't the most talentuous artists that ever were (in comparison of other musicians in the metal universe)
And still, they are the number 1 band of all time...

Kirk was downpicking the fuck out of that riff lol

    • @TheBlueflameX
      @TheBlueflameX Год назад +9

He is probably alternating it because of the vocals, he has to do that too Kirk doesn't and vocally that part sounds tricky even for him when you are playing guitar at the same time cause it's a very different melody or at least that's my guess im not an expert just like music

    • @jutjub22
      @jutjub22 Год назад +3

@@TheBlueflameX I do not think it is that, singing along is not problematic here, since rhythm is constant, and matches vocal accents (just try with your hand, words "life", "fight") -
I mean, he sings along anything easily, never heard him go off rhythm - he just wants to rest his hand whenever possible. He also simplifies some other down-picking riffs (e.g. mop verse).

    Welcome to this life
    Born into the fight
    Here to claim your dream
    Look you in the eye
    Patch the broken sky
    Craving dopamine
    Then my voice appears
    Teaching you of fears
    Are you good enough?
    You don't recognize
    Head is full of lies
    You should just give up
    Listen well, better listen well
    Listen well, better listen well
    Don't ever speak my name
    Remember you're to blame
    Keep me inside
    Keep me inside
    My name is suicide
    Curse another day
    Spirit locked away
    Punish and deprive
    Hate to be awake
    Living a mistake
    More dead than alive
    Then a voice appears
    Whisper in your ears
    "You are good enough"
    Throwing down a rope
    A lifeline of hope
    Never give you up
    Listen well, better listen well
    Listen well, better listen well
    Don't ever speak my name
    Remember you're to blame
    Keep me inside
    Keep me inside
    My name is suicide
    Terrified in sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
    Isolate and fight your mind
    Telling you you're left behind
    My lying voice inside
    Keeps drinking cyanide
And no more can you run
    Into the sun
    Terrified, sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
    Isolate and fight your mind
    Telling you you're left behind
And now you speak my name
    You've given back the blame
    Keep me deep inside
    Don't you keep me inside
    Screaming suicide
    Now that I'm exposed inside
    Shined a light on cyanide
    I'm no longer needed here
Now you've faced your biggest fear

I honestly think they wrote this album with the intention of having it be crazy fun and hard-hitting live. When I first listened to the album I was like "OK this is good...I don't love it as much as the old stuff but I like it a lot more than their other new stuff." But watching them play it live, there's just soooooo much energy in everything from this album. It CRUSHES.

It's interesting how different the play styles of Kirk and James actually are and how this sums up so well in the live performance. James always amazes me with the stage ergonomics he comes up with to manage the load between playing and singing while Kirk is much wilder with his play even through the riffs.

Yup, this song is amazing. I've been screaming suicide since I was just 10 years old. I wish I could do it so badly but their is so many morality issues and societal issues surrounding it, that's pretty much the only thing keeping me alive right now. The thought of hell existing. If hell didn't exist, I would of been dead 15 years ago. This is why I love metal, it talks about all the bad stuff I want to do to my self but your not actually doing those things. That's why I tune in! Thanks Metallica for making another kick ass album for the masses! Especially the ones who are depressed!
