THANK YOU!! Maaaaan that metal bracket ripped up the back of my hand while it was way up in there. What a crappy job to do!! Thanks for the great, to-the-point video 👍🏻👍🏻
So frickin’ cool that the first video I play after searching “replace vent motor pontiac g6” is yours and wha-la I’m all like “dude...there it is...that’s where the motor is...haha”. Good stuff man! Btw for all you folks, I had a 08 Chevy Impala before the 2009.5 Pontiac G6 that I drive now and long story short the dang circulate motor crapped out on both cars! Also the hot and cold motor quit on the impala. Don’t think I’ll ever buy a 2008-2010 GM vehicle ever again. Thanks for this vid!
No problem! My replacement started clicking after being in there for a year or so, so I just unplugged it after setting it to fresh air. To heck with it😂. Sucks I don’t have recirc in the hot summer, but oh well. I don’t want to have to do that again
Thank you for this video I had the same problem you did lots of blend door videos but nothing about this one it was a pain in the butt but Still only took about 20 minutes
I think it was a super thin 7/32 box end wrench from Kobalt I happened to have. It fit perfect. I showed it in the video not much longer after that timestamp you sent
@@anthonydnoishi I think the clip that I ended up breaking was able to be moved with just my fingers. It was super hard though, so a pocket screwdriver may make that part easier
That will work, yes. That’s essentially what I did. I still haven’t replaced it, or my glovebox😂🤦🏻♂️. It will stay in whatever position it was in when you unplugged it
Thanks! I was literally just about to buy that other (wrong) part from RockAuto when I decided to check another video. Then there you were to save me! Have a part number?? Thanks again!
Hey I have the same car and I just put in the sensor thing to determine what’s going on and I could really use some help. Could I send you the report the scanner came back with? I need help figuring out what to do next. Please.
@@GraceCunningham-z4w I don’t think I’m your guy for that stuff. I just feel my way through these things. For that kind of help (and for free), I’d go to any auto parts store. Ask for someone knowledgeable at diagnosing issues, and show them the codes you pulled. They’re usually very helpful and should get you the parts and advice you need
I ended up having to do that. The replacement started clicking too. Just make sure it’s in whatever position you want it in before you unplug. For an all year round setting use fresh air, fresh air is 100% necessary for heat in the winter
Not quite yet... I haven't been able to order parts yet, but I can update you when I do. I assume it'll be as easy as getting the shaft lined up, pushing it back onto the pegs that have snaps on them, and then putting back the little bolt headed screw that was there at the bottom
@@samburchard1778 Yup, it was exactly that. Just making sure that D-notch is in, press it on nice and hard, screw it back on, then throw all the panels back together. Then sell the car because it’s not worth keeping any longer. Parts keep getting more scarce. But I got my part from the junk yard for a few dollars.
Finally got my new one put on. It was pretty easy. I just held it with my hand, and with my fingers on the same hand felt the shaft, then felt where it’s supposed to go on the actuator, lined them up, then just twisted it back and forth until it slipped in. After that I twisted it the right direction until it was seated, then put the screw back in
You open it and push the sides in toward one another until it pops out. To take it full out, you remove the screws all around it. There’re like three underneath, and then two in the lip you can see when you open it
@@jogon1255 thank you Jog on, I was able to unscrew it and change is with breaking anything and bleeding. There is only one screw u need to take care and after you screw please be careful to remove it as it clip with plastic locker which could be break if you do forcefully.
It was a loud “pop pop pop pop” with two pops per second or so, but it may sound different for you if more splines are broken off. It sounded like a little elf hitting it with a tiny elf hammer from behind the dash
Plus there’s more to diagnosing than sound. Like what causes the sound (as I showed in the video). If you hear a popping or clicking when fresh air mode is turned on, but it goes away when you set it to recirculate, that’s likely your problem

If a person just unhooked the wire going to the actuator to get rid of the noise, would that work? or would it stay in recirculation mode? thanks

hey was wondering if the one u changed was for the heater or the one on the left is for the heater
This is what I need to know mines is doing this
I’m sorry I missed this. The one on the left (that’s fairly easy to get to) is to change from hot to cold
If I unplug it instead of replacing it, will that create further problems down the road

Doses this Controls which vents have air flow like defrost, floor thanks
No, that’s not this one. I’m not sure where that actuator is
Thanks for replying
Any tips or tricks on how to install would be appreciated. I got the old one out (barely) and can't seem to figure out how to put the new one in.

How we supposed to know exactly what it is if you don't let us hear the noise

Just bought my daughter a used g6 with less than 120K miles. It does same thing. Good video
