Kibitz Rapid Panic Emergency Respond Unit
Until during next recording, he realizes that there's still not enough battery production to keep up with the drones...Acid aside, wasn't empty drone battery ports the entire reason that nothing was getting done?
"Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you are part of a team!"
I have a respawn container that has a full set of gear and Equipment just for the situation where I die
The nuclear setup fails again? How unexpected! And by unexpected, I mean COMPLETELY EXPECTED!
It's always fun to see kibz suffer lol
I 100% called that one when he said he had a future proof setup 😂😂😂
It's become such a meme at this point. Also a perfect example of how no system is ever really failsafe.
funny thing is during one of his streams I am not joking with you power was down by 20% from 360 to 320 kibitz said it was probably fine I knew this was coming.
Saw the title of the video and went Nuclesr Meltdown? 10seconds in. Yep. nuclear meltdown
Maybe you should consider adding "Rewire the entire factory" to your to- do list? you've got a main breaker room with only 2 things hooked up in it, and as we just saw a lot of your wiring is a mess. Re-doing it might be a good idea.
He was probably doing that then got distracted by the battery setup. Would explain how his basic battery setup got disconnected
Josh's factory is a mess. This is just a bit untidy.
That should be on/near the top of his todo list AT ALL TIMES
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah probs 😅
@@ImKibitz and possibly a emergency power plant reboot reactor. That’s just hooked up to the main plant.
The devs once explained in their 'What we never put into the game video' that there never will be some intentional maintenance, where machines break over time or something.
And you know... you simply don't need this. You can generate so much juicy problems all by yourself if you just run a complex enough factory system :D
yeah, there's enough things like that, imo, there's already kinda that with nuclear waste, since you can't really get rid of it you can just stockpile it, so you'll always have to do something if you play long enough.
@@satibel im pretty sure a couple updates ago they made it so you can get rid of waste?
@@peko2299 ah yes after checking you can sink plutonium fuel rods, or use them and have unremovable (for now) plutonium waste
Well The Eden Project (from what the creator of that project says) is running fine on power and never sees problems like Kibitz do with Nuclear
I hope they add alarms in the future that go off if power drops or a line fills up
Yes. Monitoring probes for belts and powerlines to detect different values such as boolean on/off, throughput, amount of power, etc, and then a monitor block to do stuff with those values. Alarms would be one thing and automating things another, for example automatically cutting the power from non-critical operations when certain conditions are met.
We definitely need way more logic stuff than just the smart filter.
TRUE!!!! Or like a light switchboard so an 'If X then Light turns Red' type thing
They already do. When things stop working and you have backups or tripped breakers or brown outs, you'll know. That's your alarm that something is wrong!
Ficsit Networks mod has that stuff. Here's to hoping Coffee Stain adds something to the base game though!
Just like a Nuclear Airhorn or something
Kibitz was like that guy who was trying to rescue his food from the oven, shouting the F-Bomb repeatedly before banging his head on the chandelier during this playthrough. But GOOD JOB MAN! I don't know if I could've figured all of that out myself...
Kibs: "This will fix everything!" **presses AZ-5**
Everything: **Explodes**
*AZ-5
@@crazycatrox1103 lol oops, fixed.
OMG why is AZ-5 such an accurate description for how Kibs designed his whole system but especially the nuclear setup.
Nah its with the control rods and kbitz did it good with boa and not with graphite, so technically it’s not with the button it were with the control rods 🤓
0:48 I love the solid 4 seconds of realization and visual absorption of what's happened, before a firm and calm "Fuck."
I love how everything that fucked up in this episode was due to... electric poles not connected to each other.
You know, one of the most convenient features from Factorio was the ability to set up alarms based on stockpiles/throughput that would go off whenever anything fell out of balance. Wish something like that was available in Satisfactory.
I know right? I started as a Satisfactory player, about a 1000 hours later I tried Factorio and was blown away by some of the little details. Satisfactory will never have the big stuff like Factorio style construction bots, but logic based alarms and a smart merger would be amazing.
It is, he did not use that function
That alarm system literally saved me from my whole power grid blowing. I had it set up to read inventory count on solid fuel and suddenly as I was playing, I hear an alarm. Gave me enough time to get nuclear setup before running out!
That response to the grid was GOLD!
What do we say to the god of Death?
Kibitz: Squeak
It doesn't feel like a satisfactory video without big calculations or nuclear failure in it.
The entire factory: *failing* Also the entire factory: "What a beautiful day! Let's not ruin it by sounding an alarm!"
I posit that this posting is peak Kibz. It’s always an adventure when even the smallest thing is out of place; exponential escalation 😅
It do be like that LOL
Utter panic mode Kibz is very entertaining to watch
kibz the hypertube railguns is super accurate now. you can land in a gel pad every time even if shot across map. makes fast travel way easier.
ImKibitz: THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IS IN MELTDOWN!
Me: Is there Frostpunk soundtrack in the Background?
Ah, the wonderful picture of nuclear waste :)
Don't tell me that 'the last nuclear waste problem I swear!' was just clickbait Kibbs, that'd just break my heart!
That's why we need logic in this game. We need throughput counters and triggers and a way to trigger alarms, when a threshold has fallen below. Yes - there's mods. But I want it in vanilla.
It makes sense that the system started charging as you managed the drones by hand. Once you loaded those first two drone ports, the uranium started to go, and that was the main issue - your system had thousands of sulfur backed up in it, since most of it is transported by train and only a little bit by drone, and only a few uranium per minute overall coming through it. Once the first two drones were online, the production started again on the plutonium rods, which let a couple nuclear plants kick back online. So, when the machines in the factory are mostly at a lull, it charges for a moment.
The main thing is that I think you need some more reliable and completely disconnected power for the plutonium rod production. If you don't do that, then you're going to have some serious issues. Something like setting up a few fuel plants or even coal plants in the back of the place and having them able to set the whole thing running - with a switch there, they can simply detach from the rest of the grid and work unimpeded by fuse failures. Once the plants come back online, then it can reconnect and likely send the on-site power back into a standby mode (unfortunately that's only manageable by hand but just turn them all on first thing and it would be fine). Dunno if you want a self-sufficient fuel processing plant or just some coal slapped into place for it, though.
I wonder if they will make lead walls eventually so you can kind of contain the radiation lvls a little bit
working in a factory in real life (albeit a butter factory, where the consequences are a little less severe), I can say this was a pretty accurate representation of when things go wrong on an industrial scale.
yeah, though I wouldn't want literal tons of cream everywhere, imagine the smell after a week.
and the "oh this was this wire that was unplugged, I spent 10 hours to find it, it'll be 10000 bucks" is pretty accurate.
@@satibel Pretty much. We once had a cream tsunami, when the boiler broke while both operators where out of the room (long story about how one equals the other). The room was covered in about 6000litres of cream. It took a fair while to clean, cost a fortune, and was all caused by a single bolt in the boiler failing.
@@satibel 10k is a low value for 10 hours depending on your manufacturing. I work in automotive manufacturing as a technician--I've worked sites that had a $34,000 per minute product loss if we brought the whole facility down with a hard stop.
@@johnp1806 I mean the billed price for the fix. though yeah, for some places it can be a very high cost if they have to close shop even for an hour, so someone who can fix it fast is very valuable.
also in this hypothetical scenario it might only be a preventive measure or working on redundant systems.
@@satibel Yep, the place I work at has a machine that, if completely stopped for long enough, takes about 1 hour to even get up to temperature again so it can start up, and the first 10 minutes of line speed production are going to the trash immediately because until everything has settled in the quality will fluctuate to the point where some of it will cause stoppages downstream in the processing.
What do we make? Corrugated board packaging xD
Our plant manager is always rather grumpy when that happens...
54 minutes to fix a nuclear power plant sounds like a disaster film
This was too scary even for Halloween Kibs
Hey Kibitz! Why dont you build like GIANT obelisk filled with batteries... You know... For emergensy, so you wont need to panic.
Also love your videos!
yes, or a massive bunker full of batteries
Bunker-obelisk-some giant building, whatever. He needs like HUNDREDS power storage buildings. Or even better: tens of thousands of those.
And i forgot how this building was called, so named it battery.
Still... He needs this EXTRA power bank for his world.
The batteries count time like action movie bombs.

Kibs, you need to build a gargantuan structure that is ONLY dedicated to power storage, you know, to buy you more time to make your grid bounce back. Also, you need locations to store emergency batteries at every port that you have to manually feed during these crises.
The Eiffel power
@@Elearen thats a good idea
hey let me copy paste my message from about 2 months back.... that Kibitz hearted....
on the Aluminum video:
"One of your power grids" so there is at least probably 1 other power grid....
perhaps a section that was by mistake cut off from the rest but for some reason had power storage in the section so there was a long ass delay in the shutdown?
well im sure we will see a video in a couple weeks to a month or 2 with the "do you guys remember that power outage message that we ignored? well i just found what it was" bit...
↑
so yeah i was expecting a video like this... might have or have not been that one in particular but stil...
I have actually planned for this scenario in the build I'm currently on. I don't know what it's officially called, but down at the south east corner of the map there's what I call the Blue Lake. There are 4 coal deposits and 6 crude oil deposits in that area, and in the early days of my build it's where I built my first major coal power plant which I've disconnected from the grid but it's still there. The coal is being sent somewhere else by train now but this old 64-burner coal powerplant sits directly on top of the mines that feed it, and the water extractors are just down in the lake.
So for my power emergency reboot plan what I did was inside the coal plant I made a large bank of bio burners and a storage container full of solid biofuel and hooked it up to the same disconnected circuit that the coal generators are on. After that I made an entire facility next door to convert all the crude oil across the lake into fuel, which again, was switched off and disconnected from everything so it was just sitting there idle.
So in the event of a total power meltdown, my plan is this. Go to the blue lake and switch on the bio burners and reconnect the coal mines to this new circuit. I have a strategic coal reserve there which is 10 industrial storage containers full to help it start. Then once the coal is burning I connect it to my idle fuel refineries, which should by my calculations start providing enough fuel for 128 fuel generators. I haven't built 128 generators anywhere but I probably have enough materials stored at my main factory to do it. Then once that whole system is set up I can somehow use it to jumpstart my nuke reactors hopefully.
So that's my power failure contingency plan.
Oh boy is it the nuke plant 🤦♂️
Kibitz it seems like you're having problems with the same exact issues repeatedly and it might be due to how you build.
See, large singular multi purpose buildings are fine but you are segmenting them awfully.
If you want to prevent this type of thing from happening in the future could suggest a few things (if you manage to see this)
1: Set up a unique disconnected power network to power all the machinery that keeps your nuclear plant running. IE you will be setting up a fuel power plant that powers itself, and all the machinery that fuels your nuclear plant, and all the machinery that processes the waste.
This way when this inevitably happens again because something else breaks, you're not on a battery power time limit when you need to run around and figure out where the problem is. in order to help jump start the system after a failure like this you can hook up a huge battery section to this fuel power plant to get things producing again until the nuclear can come back online. A local circuit breaker.
2: Localize wiring. You have rooms for purposes within these large buildings, but as in this video they can some times accidentally get cut off. You need to circuit them all separately to a central area to help prevent any accidental connection cuts.
3: use more labels. I frequently see you going into an area and simply remembering what's going on. You should consider using the new signs to label every single belt input and output so you can more easily see what's going on any where in your world.
this is what i love about this game, it's very relaxing and anxiety centric at the same time SPETIALLY WHEN NULCEAR POWER IS ENVOLVED
So much anxiety in this game. I love it.
I loved the concept of this game and really enjoyed playing it a couple of years ago, put about 100hrs into it. Seeing factories like this just blow. my. mind. It literally makes my head hurt. I just know if ever I got to this point, it would stress me out rather than being fun!!
What you need is a power switch to set you factory into a „self preservation“ mode. Flick one switch and everything not connected to power production turns off. But then I would imagine the wiring for that would be horrible
With signs you can lable everything and then it's not really difficult to build. You just build a vertical beam and then on each side you can stack several power lines above each other.
Really like this video. It had a real sense of urgency.
Add a casual skyscraper full of batteries and add a hyperspeed emergency shipping routes for resources. I mean like enclosed loops of trains (that are on their own power grid) or drones (that would also be on their own grid). Oh and emergency coal plants!
So what lesson do we learn kids? Don't hook up your most vital systems with drones.
Funny timing for this video, because I just had a similar disaster nearly happen in my world.
I was just minding my own business, working on turbo motor production when I noticed that many of my trains are showing the flashy exclamation mark of disaster. Including ones that deliver compacted coal to my turbofuel power plant. Oh no... If the refinery ran out of compacted coal, my whole power grid would shut down.
So I quickly went and fixed the problem, and luckily one of the trains caught in the traffic jam had a full load of coal to unload, so nothing bad happened. It would have been very bad if I had been AFK when this happened.
Oh, and by the way, I have a video idea: Back up your save, then intentionally cause the absolute worst-case scenario for your factory. Ran out of batteries, the nuclear plant completely full of waste and shut down, train traffic jams, etc. Then try to restart the whole thing. As this video and others demonstrate, you need good backup systems to get everything un-screwed up. This would be a good opportunity to test those backups and see where new ones are needed! Plus, I find disaster videos like this one entertaining!
I'm not sure if it's been fixed in updated 6, but as of update 5 the battery consumption rate of drones was bugged. When you're far away from them they consume more batteries than indicated, some sort of stack buffering bug.
nuclear setup? aaah just the usual
Oh boy, look at the time! It's "panic o'clock"!
I bet he really appreciates Josh’s hypertube cannon now.
The panic right after finding this on on the live stream was great content. Definitely worth looking up the vod yall.
Might be worth making a by pass in the waste system. Say a smart splitter with every else going to recycling and over flow going to mass storage so if the recycling backs up it instead goes to mass storage and not clog up the system
Eh, no biggies.
Just tame some doggo and teach them to play catch on a pad launcher toward a basketball hoop over the void, while it carries your *W A S T E S.*
Kibitz in the next Satisfactory Season be like: "I decided to not go for nuclear power this season"
Commander Keen avatar. Respect.
Turbofuel all the way next time hahaha
I am surprised that you didn't buy time by throwing up a bunch of storage and diverting the nuclear waste into it until you got processing back online. That would at least have reactivated the nuclear power plants for a bit.
Edit: I mean as step 1, rather than being the last thing you ended up doing :P
finally another episode of the n̶u̶c̶l̶e̶a̶r̶ ̶m̶e̶l̶t̶d̶o̶w̶n̶ satisfactory let's play
those narrative episodes really nail it. Keep em coming Mr. Bitz!
0:20 Waaaaaaait! THAT'S THE FROSTPUNK SOUNDTRACK IN THE BEGGINING! I would recognize the violins anywhere!
Note for Future Kibitz : you're bad at wiring
This is one reason that I have Power Storage units spread across the map. I've caught a few problems with my grid just from seeing one of those doing the spinny-sparky dance. Every machine room, extractor, miner, etc. should have Power Storage units nearby.
2:23 YES CLOSE VALVE, DO YOU NOT WANT YOUR EMERGENCY FACTORIES!? also anyone here in 2024?
Here’s a suggestion make a small coal power plant that only activates when the grid fails or power the nuclear setup and everything it requires with the coal power making it independent of the main grid
he could also use a battery bank that is charged once then disconnected from the grid, and having a separate grid for everything nuclear related that can be connected to the main or to the battery backup.
@@satibel right basically have the nuclear power plant and it systems on one grid and having some power spruce for them witch is what I and you said
you could build a battery backup per building, so the first one you would have to build is the backup for the uranium waste processing. in my world it has saved me many times when i forget to plug something in or if i did the calculations wrong.
After seeing the thumbnail, I think "here we go again"
Maybe including a large amount of redundancy in power use would be a good idea.
He has it. He's got hours of battery backup. The problem is that he doesn't have a good way to shut down nonessential systems.
7:52 I think that the "fuse broken" notifikation from a few episodes ago might have been the battery setup
Oh boy, problems. Like always.
I am beginning to think the nuclear meltdowns are false flag ops for more content at this point lol😂
i like how every few episodes, present kibz realized past kibz screwed him over and goes into panic mode.
And this is why you need the X3 mod drones! No faffing with batteries, just recharge from the grid.
Kibz, at this point you should just accept that the Lizard Doggo might not be a qualified nuclear plant technician.
ADD OVERFLOW SMART SPLITTERS TO YOUR BELTS KIBS!!!! Even if they just go into a massibe building full of storage containers or an AWESOME sink it will help your belt overflow issues!
The moment when you forget to create contingencies for your contingencies.
It wouldn't be a Kibitz video without a nuclear emergency crisis.
Amazing!! What cracks me up is how you berate yourself, then apologize. LOL. Excellent gameplay. Love the methods and use of the game. Thanks!
My short-term fix would be to temporarily add more nuclear waste storage, giving me more time to find the bottleneck. Considering the fact that I haven't played this since they added pipes, however, I'm sure there'd be a better way of solving things.
Kibitz: I'm glad the nuclear power situation is solved FOREVER
Two spicy ropes: I'm about to do what we call a pro gamer move
I can see another nuclear issue soon, I believe it's called update 7
Remember that time you got a message about a power grid getting disconnected? The entire comment section was joking about it. Here it is! :)
How about an automated alarm system like, having an overflow splitter on the waste line running to a drone port (including separte storage for batteries) which sends the waste to your main base, or another place you visiting quite often, if you see the waste there and/or its radiated, you know you have a problem.
Don't forget to re-connect everything you just took off the grid to save power...
Hmmm, my game is usually not this exciting. Or hilarious. Or this radiated. LOVE IT.
Like in life, only THEN things got fucked up, and getting more and more fucked up by the second, you realise how "exiting" life can, be and value "boring life stability" above all elss
Is using nuclear power always this tricky?
It's like watching a mad scientist for 20 minutes, and I love it
i usually just make emergency supply caches for fun i never really thought i would have any issues
^_^' Makes me think my worldwide factory which is just one power grid may be a little vulnerable.
Had my grid collapse once when Update 5 hit.
Then again, it was a good thing I have a store of emergency turbo fuel to reboot the power grid with.
Was watching the stream after this and this video was way better than I expected. F
God speed kibz
How do you manage to meltdown every few episodes? Are you just doing this on purpose for content? This is like the 5th time...
In my small factorys I have energy problem with oil... this man becouse 2 cables almost ends in apocalipse blackout.
Better disaster movie than The Towering Inferno, Airport, and Poseidon. ( I name old movies because I am...old)
I am only 40 hours in to Satisfactory so far, but one of my goals in the future is a massive gigafactory of nothing but battery banks to store power.
It's nice seeing both what my world can become in terms of build, and what my world can become in terms of "oh God oh God why?!"
can you please tell me how to unlock so many inventory Slots, I'm currently on 81 but I see you have a lot more.
Paused the video to comment, That much WASTE in one location, should let off Radiation!! lol Continue video......
Nuclear is solved forever he said, then it broke, he fixed it and said its solved forever, then it broke, he fixed it and said its solved forever, then it broke, he fixed it and said its solved forever ;P
50,000 hours in this game and Kibz is still just winging the plan and hoping the nuclear plant stays running. Comedy gold.
Him throwing the switch thinking it will fix things and then it blew the breaker was the funniest thing that's happened across his entire playthrough.
This has to be one of the funnest videos of yours I've watched. You should have more catastrophic problems. It reeaallly shows the breadth of the late-game worlds and how intricate all the processes and systems are. I don't know. It's like a living organism! - "What are you doing? Sulfur? Good man." Haha, great videos, brother. Thanks a million!
Is it possible to build a Gigantic battery storage (A LOT OF BATTERIES) that only have it, like you can change the input/output? Like off means only input, and On means only Output? Is it possible @ImKibitz?
this is THE content, emergency, problem solving, trouble shooting .... oh boiiiii
to the heck with "back seat coaching" comments under every video - this right here is the good stuff
optimization is great and all ... BUT BORING!
this is why im in the process of making nearly the largest possible turbofuel facctory in the game, using all but 1 sulfur nodes, if my math is correct ill get almost 100kMW just from turbofuel and still have more than half of the regular fuel overflowing.
advice to anyone playing this game, dont start with 4 oil nodes and just decide that you're gonna max their production rates.
it started with 4 oil nodes, then 60 refiners making heavy oil residue, then water, blenders, and exponentially more refiners, to produce enough to power over 400 fuel gens with turbofuel, idk how many more ill need just to get rid of excess regular fuel
Hey there, nice video, and OMG awesome base you have, I'm not 1% as strict and organized as you are :D
That's why I hate drone ports. I don't use them at all, not relliable.
Trains, in my opinion, are the right way to get the job done... A bit slower, and a lot of extra work to get them where you need them, but after that, they will continue to transport HUGE ammounts of resources time and time again, no matter what..
really easy way to reboot the grid when you're at this point. Have local grid battery backups at each site involved directly with power generation. Activate those sites batteries ONLY if theres COMPLETE grid failure to get power back online. Use a buffer of raw materials to account for the miners being offline
normal people: oh, waste is backing up and block energy production *implementHugeBufferOfContainers*. "Great, Now i have normal power for hours do debug the issue without stress that could cause further issues and wasted time".
More nuclear shananigans
You should definitely compartmentalize your power grid more, to enable black start capabilities.
Because one of these days there's something that'll actually break your grid, and then you're positively fucked if you don't do that.
Black start should be an essential capability of your power grid.
Fun idea: you and some other satisfactory RUclipsr could all play together on one dedicated server and create awesome big complex factory or speedrun the game or something. Just trowing out this idea. Could be cool. (Something I would like to watch I I'm sure others too)
I am starting a totally new save tomorrow morning. Is nuke power required now for advanced tech stuff? I quit a good year ago just as I got to nuke power because it got very complicated for me. My new build, is going to run off of a massive power storage bank. So nuke will not be needed at all, unless something is needed for technology advancement.
