I was just thinking ...Peter has the ability to communicate. This Lautner design met rightful owner. Perfect dream come true for both. Thank You for sharing.
got to respect for choosing a restoration rather than upgrade modifications. this truly restores the authenticity of the architects vision which can be very deep so the new owner clearly absorb the work
Sure, the owner is a lucky guy, but he deserves it, as he is so aware of the profound meaning of life surrounded bythis beauty. I love Lautner’s oeuvre!
I'm not ashamed to say the way this guy spoke about his experience of living in this space brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible experience that must be, and I wish we could all feel the same way in our own homes.
Lautner was certainly one of the great designers of his generation. He started out as an apprentice with Frank Lloyd Wright when Wright was doing his southern California homes. He clearly learned Wright's lessons and made them his own. It thrills me to see this house in such pristine condition. It doesn't look as if it's been restored. It looks as if it was miraculously preserved in its original state.
Oh, to stumble into buying a Lautner, 30 years ago. Spectacular, timeless design. As usual, you show us everything we want to see. So glad the owner shared this with us.
It's deeply personal for me to listen to John express his appreciation for the home, space, architects vision, natural immediate surroundings, on and on that literally enrich every single day of his life. We spend so much time at home. It can feed the soul.
Just discovered this house is now on the market. I hope the new owner will cherish it as much as Peter Tangen has done. Such a gorgeous house. I love the light coloured wood floors in contrast to the richer toned wood on the walls and uprights, and both being in perfect harmony of colour tone. Fabulous location for a house, and you can see how Lautner took great care to integrate the house into the landscape there. So happy that the best person had bought this house 30 years ago and restored it beautifully; and kudos to the estate agent who showed it to him despite it not being in the area he wanted to live in. I the Love this house! Thank you for this beautiful video!
Wow, this is the first time I understood what great architecture can do to you by living there. It can reminds you to be in the moment and strive to live a life of quality, how inspiring.
Match made in heaven, home and owner. Everything so well done. A home that should be experienced by all! So glad that it has an appreciative owner!!!!! This home is a winner for sure!!!!
I am amazed to hear someone explain the feelings that can be shared from a lovely home where design and a sence of space has been so well done. That is also why i feel sad for people that can't see this and think that living in a white on white box is what makes them happy. It's because they live a life with there eye's and senses closed.
Amazing architecture. Love the wonderful connection this home has with nature. Really special place. Must be incredible to live in such a beautiful home. The builder was clearly a craftsman who was passionate about doing work to the highest of standards.😊
Thank you Peter for your wonderful work of love in preserving this gem. I can never understand why great architecture isn't cherished in the same way fine art is?...
Thank you so much for sharing. Your presentation and restoration filled me with tears of joy, much as the works of Bach, Chopin and Bruch. You were born to preserve, enjoy and appreciate this in sincere humility that few can comprehend.
I stumbled on this house on a walk here in LA many years ago, and wondered if anyone was living in it & whom…so happy to now know and he greatly appreciates being in a Lautner!
So inspiring and astonishing. Both the house and the film are just a pure beauty. Thank you so very much for creating and sharing these amazing stories with us! Hugely appreciate it
Peter seems to share some david foster wallace intricacies with his cadence & vocal posture anyways, this was stunning - hearing someone articulate that living in a place 'made them happier' so succinctly ~
One thing in life that would help you live longer and healthier will be; the view of a natural landscape, connected to a peaceful environment. Been surrounded by these elements is healing and John Lautner was well aware of it.
The 1950s was a very rainy time in California. Especially 1955. That may have added to the impetus to enclose that area. It’s a beautiful house. He’s a lucky man.
Peter you are lucky that you live in a home you enjoy but one that speaks to you. As I write this you are talking and the words are so poignant as if you and the house are one. So glad you appreciate this style architecture, and your real-estate agent knew you so well. I grew up in a modern home in Florida and this year I have completed my home in Augusta GA that speaks to me. It is a new Mid Century Modern home that brings joy to me and many others that I never knew loved Mid Century. Its in a historic district so I had many hoops to hop through but the end result was worth all the decisions and hard work getting it approved and from paper to growing it from the ground up. First Mid Century style my 80 year old plus architect and firm had ever built. Again so glad you love love your home. My son lived in Studio City for many years and I saw a home from the roadway that appeared to be somewhat like your home. I saw it on the left as we rounded the curve and watched until it was out of site with glee.
Wow I have come across several articles already about this master piece. Put a dog on it and it’s going to be heaven. My house now sitting on a sloping white sand beach surrounded by lush forest has the same vibe. The feeling and the right word to describe it is called “bliss”
Never knew much about mid-century modern until I bought one in NC. I'm just about ready to pour money into this house for exactly the same reasons that Peter described! I live in an HOA where I have to run everything I do by them first but I think they understand that what I want to achieve falls in line with the natural beauty that the house is surrounded by. Nestled in the town of Brevard in the Connestee Falls development, the house was built in 1972. It has many MCM characteristics. Open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, wood beams that extent through to the outside, trapezoidal windows two fireplaces and so on. The house is situated at the top of a hill at 3100 feet above sea level surrounded by hundreds of acres that are in the community preserve. The surrounding area has several national parks including DuPont National where most of the waterfall scenes for the movie Last of the Mohegan's was filmed. We are also 20 minutes away from the SC border. Let me know if you want to see this home. TY
I’ve said this many times before, and will continue to say it. Right now I’m compelled to say it again. John Lautner was, without a doubt, the best residential architect that ever lived.
I believe so … Lautner’s attitude was always more focused on the actual, practical implementation of Wrights ideas of organic architecture. Lautner, Jim DeLong, Schindler and Harwell Harris (even though he never worked under Wright as an apprentice) really understood the concepts of indoor/outdoor, Wright being the catalyst and springboard for such amazing houses. Bravo!
Fantastic place, and vibe. Love everything ... but for that swing out table in the kitchen for a family dinner ... not so much. Beautiful job, this is my favorite American style of architecture.

I'm not sure what work Peter is involved in but his ability to communicate what this house is about and what it means to him is extraordinary.
Peter Tangen is an artist mostly known for his promotional photography.
I was just thinking ...Peter has the ability to communicate. This Lautner design met rightful owner. Perfect dream come true for both. Thank You for sharing.
He is the principal operator of the Florb Bergltensen Cog Corporation, based in Antarctica
Agreed. It's nice to see a home this incredible belong to someone who truly appreciates it.
got to respect for choosing a restoration rather than upgrade modifications. this truly restores the authenticity of the architects vision which can be very deep so the new owner clearly absorb the work
this guy's description of what it's like to live there is -i feel vicarious joy. i feel his joy.
This video gave me goosebumps. Hearing the owner so eloquently describe his experience with the home is inspiring and wonderful.
I feel like I totally understand everything he is saying. could not imagine living in beauty like that
I felt such strong emotions towards this amazing house and his words. Made me cry.
May your life continue to be filled with joy
The owner is so grateful to live his life, he deserves blessings for eternity 🧡
Owning a house such as this, being the caretaker of a magnificent Lautner property, would inspire one to listen to the creativity in us all.
Sure, the owner is a lucky guy, but he deserves it, as he is so aware of the profound meaning of life surrounded bythis beauty. I love Lautner’s oeuvre!
I’ve never heard anyone speak so lovingly and have so much appreciation for his home. Sir, you are the right steward for this beautiful home.
My favorite Architect! The house is almost 70 years old and still feels ahead of its time! Wonderful restore/update!
“Everywhere I look I see things that please me, and that happiness has been very much because of the experience of being sheltered by this open space”
I'm not ashamed to say the way this guy spoke about his experience of living in this space brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible experience that must be, and I wish we could all feel the same way in our own homes.
These houses are worthy of going on a historic preservation list !
in any other country they would.

what a beautiful connection...
I imagine myself appreciating my future home as much as Peter appreciates his. Thank you -
I love this guy! You can paint a picture with your words sir. 💙🙌🏾⚡⚡⚡
What a beautiful home. So glad he could restore it. It would have been a terrible loss.
THIS. Nailed everything we love about this type of architecture without any over-the-top or feeling of unobtainium.
Just discovered this house is now on the market. I hope the new owner will cherish it as much as Peter Tangen has done. Such a gorgeous house.

Serene and beautiful. Mr Tangen is righty proud of (loves) his home and the restoration work. And how lovely and warm it looks at dusk.
Wow, this is the first time I understood what great architecture can do to you by living there. It can reminds you to be in the moment and strive to live a life of quality, how inspiring.

Very very ZEN home. Absolutely gorgeous.
So true! I found this video so meditative! ❤

Thank you for your stewardship and for such a moving tribute. And thank you to the filmmakers for capturing it beautifully.
Thank you Peter for your wonderful work of love in preserving this gem. I can never understand why great architecture isn't cherished in the same way fine art is?...
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can feel the joy, love n affection for your home in your heart. Definitely a special place n ur very lucky you are at the right time.
Thank you so much for sharing. Your presentation and restoration filled me with tears of joy, much as the works of Bach, Chopin and Bruch. You were born to preserve, enjoy and appreciate this in sincere humility that few can comprehend.
place looks brand new. amazing design and restoration was perfect. lautner one of the greats.
Love the great windows and the beautiful, stunning house
Very clean, open, and beautiful. To bring this home back to it’s original design/intent is a tribute.
such a beautiful home
The contractor's work looks impeccable. I wonder if the quality of the restoration surpasses the original build. Really inspiring.
SO good. And good for you taking such great care of it.
Just wonderful story about life in a restored Lautnerhouse …wish all could live like this….

Very fortunate man an I’m sure he deserves because of his hard work. Nice.
Lautner was flying in another orbit. Also he was one of the few taking risks with the designs.
… and having to get many many code variances from the permitting department … Silvertop has over a hundred I believe.
Thank you
Agreed. I choke up. Yes. Thank you.
Cool house. Glad he had the vision and ability to save it.
Another fabulous masterpiece.
The 1950s was a very rainy time in California. Especially 1955. That may have added to the impetus to enclose that area. It’s a beautiful house. He’s a lucky man.
Wow. Aspirational.
Your films keep getting better and better. Gorgeous photography!
So good every time! Open Space team doesn't miss!
Great job on preserving a piece of art, just wish we could have gotten a bit more of a tour!;) Cheers!
I just watched your Ted Talk about the real life Superheroes.
Thank you so much for living from your heart.

amazingly inspired by the craftsmanship. This is design personality and character for a DESIGNER!
Great house, great vision from a smart owner! This video describes quite well what passion is about in life... 👏🏻
What a magical video and such a beautiful home.
Spectacular house
You’d have to agree the high tide of home design has long passed.
Magnificent.
Its not the architecture itself. Its the beautiful landscape surrounding. Without this view it would be nothing.
Beautiful, inspirational video
So beautiful
thank you for being an angel keeping this masterpiece
Exterior Lighting is sublime
...MAGNIFICENT ‼️💯💯🏆
Beautiful home!

I absolutely love this channel
I’ve said this many times before, and will continue to say it.
Right now I’m compelled to say it again.
John Lautner was, without a doubt, the best residential architect that ever lived.
A profoundly beautiful home, and a very well done video.
Beautifully done, sir. Mazel tov
To me the soft lighting always enhances the house.
Stunning.
I would have bought the house just for the color of the timber. I think you did the same. The color combination is absolutely amazing.
Great design last an eternity
So beautiful both in house and in sentiment
Comforting to see an architectural treasure brought back to what the architect intended.
very nice home love the furnitures thank you
Passing this on to my John Lautner channel. ♥️😎
Beautiful. Stunning home. I just wish they had shown more of it instead of the same room over and over.
See more of the house here: ruclips.net/video/y1-nhHeYw7I/видео.html
There's no no denying Wright's influence. Actually, I believe Lautner actually surpassed his teacher.
Wonderful home!

really cool, thanks you
How beautiful
Amazing
Whoa 😮 beautiful 🤩 RESPECT ✊🏼. UK 🏴
Superb original design ! The owner changing it to close in that outdoor balcony altered it.
Launder closed it in if memory serves
Fantastic place, and vibe. Love everything ... but for that swing out table in the kitchen for a family dinner ... not so much.
Beautiful job, this is my favorite American style of architecture.
