- Bill Walton is hilarious!! Usually given to hyperbole, Bill Walton is spot on with his analysis of the trade.
If you liked this one... you'll probably like this one too:

''But it doesn't matter, because he is replacing Kwame Brown, and when you take to the fact that you're replacing nothing, it makes you something!'' hahahahahahahaha
LMAO
It sound like a physic law 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That shit isn’t even funny. I mean, I’m laughing my ass off, but it’s a horrible thing to say
😂😂😂😂
JACQUEZ JOHNSON facts bro
"Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown"
Because of that trade, the Lakers made it to 3 NBA Finals and won 2 NBA Championships.
+Anthony Tanza well Memphis got Marc Gason out of the deal so Its pretty even
You mean "Marc Gasol".
+Anthony Tanza yeah typo
+Ronnie Alston Not really because how many chips did memphis win with marc, zero. And at that time he wasn't nearly as good or as proven as pau was, marc had to develop, pau was already an all star and potential all nba talent.
+Koh Smoger people keep bringing up championships it's not all about the rings from 97- about 07 they had multiple seasons where they won 12 games or less some of the worst seasons ever even with Pau they never even won a playoff game and a few seasons with Pau missed the playoffs during the Marc Era they won 50 plus games about 3 seasons and advanced in the playoffs That alone creates a foundation for a franchise Lebron haven't won a ring with Clevand but considering there history pre Lebron no one can say It's not a success because when you go from winning 10-15 games every year to 40-50 it's a success really it's only about 6 teams that won rings the past 20 years or so
Man that Walton to Stephen A set up was more beautiful than a Stockton/Malone pick-and-roll
😂
This is the best comment i've seen in a while. Although i like kwame and his comeback recently, Bill Walton and SAS were just ruthless and straight up pure comedy in this segment.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bill was a great passer, jokic of the 70s
That was as clean of a handoff as Murray to Jokic
0:42 the way Bill set Stephen A up with the assist to continue thrashing Kwame 😂
One of the best passing bigs ever 😂
HAHAHA
The timing was magnificent 😂😂😂
The perfect Alley Oop!😅😅
And now loook ....the truth cmes out...
As a Laker fan I’ll never forget this trade. Thank you Pau
@@Dbusdriver71 We didn’t trade Divac for Shaq it was actually for Kobe.
@@JDGarza824 you're right. I stand corrected.

this espn is better than 2017
Racidy Better than 2018
It will never be this good again.
ESPN is trash ever since they became CNN
Well walton gone with espn and carlisle still coaching so its not gonna get a good analysis with some banter in it
Factual...miss this version of ESPN.
Bill Walton was right. Probably was the best move of the decade.
+Ariel Horing yeah not as lopsided as it seemed at the time tho Its actually even seeing how Marc Gasol turned out
+Ariel Horing Really so what exactly was the move that got KG to the boston celtics.
***** yeah that led to one title. Gasol led to two titles. Case closed.
In the words of the great Stephen A @3:01 😂😂😂😂
Ariel Horing In hindsight I gotta agree with the host more here, Danny Ainge probably deserves that title of executive of the decade over Kupcheck. All you have to do is look at which one still has his job and has been swindling the entire league for the last 10+ years.
LMAO. watchin Stephen A and Bill Walton is borderline a comedy show. these guys are ruthless and candid about everything 😂😂. yet they know what theyre talking about
Anthony Hernandez right lol
much better than SAS and Max shouting match every single morning
Back when SAS was good at his job
I know you white
Damn seeing this comment and the name it’s kind of eerie
Kwame Brown God bless him, is a scrub. loooooooooooool
LOL
Lmaoooo
TheStubz101 that was HILARIOUS
Lmaoo
This comment didnt age well.
"they got a big man that can run, rebound, think, catch he is the ANTI Kwame brown" Jesus 😂😂😂
And they went to 3 NBA Finals with him, winning 2.
bruh lol
Lmao Bill and SAS went innn on Kwame . 2 min roast 🤣🤣
And still Kwame will cry about it on his socials 🤣
@@princemjbp695 😂
I think the most amazing thing here, is that Rick Carlisle had a lot of hair.
Looks like a different person holy cow
@2:56 Walton and Stephen A are hilarious! "OF THE DECADE? WHAT!?!?!" OMG he had me rolling
I was dying hahaha
Man, lmfao!!!
“That’s ridiculous! What?” 😂
@@UHOH_415 Lmfao!!!! Still funny.
“The Decade? The Decade.”
Kwame Brown, got bless him, is a scrub! - that made me laugh all day, lol=))
He got paid a lot of money for being a scrub too. Lol
I vividly remember this broadcast and trade.
RIP Bill Walton
Went back to this to say RIP Bill Walton...one of the more underrated bigs
"Kwame Brown, God bless him, is a scrub.". Hahahaha!!!
Had to revisit this today RIP 5.27.24 🙏🏾🕊️
Damn, didn't know Bill Walton was a savage too. SAS and Walton just shat on Brown
Lmao
I just noticed he said he is the anti Kwame brown
Walton and Stephen A. Two of the most hilarious colour pundits you can ever hope to have. LOL. What a segment.
lol shame they should have paired them up some more
Among you americans*
@Mdksupreme1 so leave the country then bye
How did Jim Carrey get on ESPN???
KramarkEclipse he’s the cable guy
Seems like he’s been employed by the Mavs forever at this point
Lolololol
Coach Rick had hair! 😱 couldn't recognise him.
😂🤣😂
It's amazing how Rick Carlisle calls him "The Great Luke Walton, one of my favorite players" HAHAHAHA and he kept a straight face...
😂😂😂
Might be now that I realized he said that just to make his dad Bill laugh.
To be fair: Luke Walton’s father (in Bill Walton) is on that same panel, so if Rick said something negative he could risk an ass kicking once the cameras stop rolling
In this trade the Grizzlies acquired the rights to Marc Gasol. Marc went on to win a DPoY award, made an All-NBA 1st team and led Grizzlies to 5 consecutive Playoff births and counting...
Giannis Ioannidis Pau and Marc Gasol were the only actual players traded. Everyone else was a scrub and one (Javaris Crittention) was a future murderer.
and the lakers went on to win 2 championships.
cry me a fucking river
Len Walker yeah cry me a fucking river, what does he want to do call no fouls and have someone get injured? What's his next excuse perkins was injured? The great perkins who is just a bench instigator of oppenents for contending teams nowadays? Haha
Giannis Ioannidis and now a champion
"The decade? The decade... Oh my goodness"
they did win 2 titles and got to 3 consecutive finals thanks to this trade so its not that crazy to say that.
@@howdybertus If they traded Bynum instead of Marc Gasol they would have gotten 3 rings at least.
@@chan13153 yeah, maybe, but they didn't.
The youtube algorithm recomending this video 12 years after is a thing of beauty
2:39 back before Phil Jackson became GM of his Knicks
Niklas Luger very true...they should have a Stephen a smith classics show where he looks at old clips of his reporting and commentary to see if the material holds up now
this will be remembered as one of the best prediction interview of all time. In Gasol's first 3 years LAL got into 3 finals and won 2 Chips
The Stephen A. Smith/Bill Walton combination was too classic.
Whenever I have a bad day I come to this clip to cheer myself up 😂😂😂. God bless you Kwame Brown.
Damn they took Kwame's life 😂😂
RIP Bill Walton, an accomplice in Stephen A’s murder of Kwame Brown.
It's such a damn shame that Pau got treated the way he did by the Lakers' organization, absolutey disgusted me as a die-hard Laker fan back in the day, I always thought he was a great player.
PAOerful One
Absolutely! He and Andrew Bynum were incredible alongside Kobe.
it was you the fans treating him bad. After kobe got worse, and the team started losing, you fans instead of blaming kobe started blaming gasol calling him gasoft
I Absolutely Agree With You, Gasol Was a Favorite of Mine With The Lakers, My Friend Always Bashed Gasol Because He Was "Soft", I Loved Having Gasol on The Lakers, But The Majority of The Fan Base and Organization Treated Him Like Shit After The 2011 1st Round Sweep
Pau was soft...Kobe made him tough.
Kobe didnt do anything for pau, he is the exact same player he was in Memphis that he is now. I hate when people make comments like Jordan made Pippen. No, the year they got Pau they go to the finals and if they had a SF they would of beaten boston then. Simply put kobe couldnt guard paul peirce so its funny how everyone said pau was soft but when kobe wasnt guarding rondo he looked pretty soft vs peirce.
LOL @2:57 Bill Walton making a statement about executive of the decade and Stephen A. Smith just explodes as they roll to highlights.
It’s soo good 😂
RIP Bill Walton, came here cos I absolutely adore this moment
This is like a Dudley Boyz 3-D on Kwame Brown
This is the greatest roast in sports and the fact that it’s Stephen A and Bill Walton makes it even more iconic
r.i.p bill, his alley oop to Stephen a here came to mind when I heard the news
They gave up nothing. This is human being we’re talking about 🤣
This is why now in 2021 Kwame is getting his retribution on all.......
*KWAME AND HE STILL IS A SCRUB*
Not
I had to come back to this in 2021 after Kwame Brown has finally risen and started to speak.
Never risen
Bill Walton: Executive of the decade.
Stephen A: THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!! WHAT?!?

Still funny to this day, haha.
@Anthony Dooley II facts😂
@@icetray2727 I actually miss this show. Bill Walton is with the PAC-12 network now.

@M Inc. That's wild man... this combo of Walton and Smith was First Take quality man, hilarious and informative.

Oh how the tables have turned 😂
Not really
damn. coaching really took a toll on Rick
RIP Bill Walton 🙌
Rick Carlisle looks 50 years older today lol

Bill's greatest assist ever was off the court, on this show, to Stephen A. RIP to the Legend!

Just Gotta Die Laughing lmao
I was jumping for joy after the Lakers made that trade!
Pau retired today ; THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING PAU GASOL , U LEGEND
Mommas cooking is headed y’all way
This brings back memories to laughing so hard then and laughing so hard now
HE CANT PLAYYYYY
Wow they really did target this man
@Chris Spencer calling a human being "Nothing" is beyond their job description.
@@jamaalmoses8821 They were referring to him as a player (which was 100% accurate), not as a man
Other than the rights to Pau Gasol's younger brother Marc, who would become a future All-Star, defensive player of the year, and All-NBA player with Memphis (but that couldn't be seen at the time), Bill Walton was right...they gave up NOTHING! Pau Gasol played 6-plus seasons with the Lakers and got then 2 titles, The other players in the trade were an aging Aaron McKie (who was just signed to a 10-day contract), Kwame Brown (out of the NBA by 2012), and Javaris Crittenton (out of the NBA by 2009 and currently serving 23 years in prison). One has to know if the Lakers knew Crittenton was a Crip.
Well if you wanna count Greivis Vasquez? He was one of the draft picks the lakers gave up
+Adam Moreira You cant really say that because obviously Memphis saw something In Marc just because the world didn't see It don't mean It was lopside a Stories not done being written until the players careers over the same with Kobe for Divac at the time It was looked at as a steal for Charolette but looking back People say the Hornets got Robbed but the Lakers saw something In Kobe the Hornets didn't see In retrospect the Pau to LA Trade was even looking back at It the same with KP being drafted by the Nights on Draft Night people bashing the Knicks seemed right but looking back at It the Knicks Is justified
+Ronnie Alston Memphis didn't see anything in marc at the time, he was considered some side prospect that was pau's younger brother playing over sees they were just trying to save cap space in that deal, nobody knew what marc would become.
Seems like ESPN was way better back then
Because it was.
I can hear Stephen A talking about Kwame for the rest of my life
Yung_Grouch dude goes innnnn on kwame brown lmfaoo
He getting his revenge rite now though
Not after this year he won't, unless he wants "mommas cooking" 😆💪🏽💯
@@kingrashawn5976 Where was his Mama's cooking when he was playing in the NBA.
Anyway he is a scrub on the court and nothing is going to change that

Here before it blows up again. Kwame fired back.
Everyone: you suck at basketball
Kwame: your co-workers do not share your ethnicity!

@@Buttington_Headerson i don't agree with everything Kwame says, I'm not even a fan. But tell me is it fair that Stephen A went around in colleges roasting a teenager. i get criticism. He wasn't the best. everyone knows that. but you can still be respectful about it. And stephen a wasn't. and remember he was talking shit about a teenager in universities all over the country.
@@prajwaldankit Kwame wasn't a teenager then, he was in his late 20s...Stephen A's criticism was accessive at times, but Kwame was also milking it

20 years of being called “Nothing”. I’d go off and destroy the mainstream media too. Justice for Kwame
@Chris Spencer SAS used this kid to make a career talking shit bout a black man on a panel with 4 white gigs
@@rolandbrice4873 So because kwame is black, that means he can't be made fun of? Stop being dumb. Can't wait for JaMarcus Russell to come out and say something so you kids can defend his scrub ass.
@Chris Spencer but they never mention one statistical fact about Kwame. It aint about sensitivity its about respect and if you make a career and fo to colleges while disrespecting a teenager . They have every right to have something to say
@Chris Spencer kwame broke it down on why they went after him, he said it was about his draft class coming straight out of high school and college wasn't making no money. So do use the media to go after him and the majority of his draft class that went out of high school.
In the sense of basketball he is nothing as a person he’s something tho
i still remember when this trade happened vividly i was so happy cause as a laker fan i was such a big fan of pau gasol in memphis such a great skilled big man who has real post up moves on the low block can hit the mid range and has great passing ability and great feel for the game
I remember Marc Gasol was in the deal. A former 2nd Team All-Rookie became a legend in Graceland.
"Russell Westbrook, God bless him, is a scrub" - SAS nowadays, probably, in his mind
"It doesn't matter because he is replacing nothing, and when you replace nothing with something..."
I nearly fell out of my seat I'm laughing so hard
The one thing that I remember the most about this trade was how "LAKER HATERS" everywhere went totally berserk over it. LOL!
"...the fact that you're replacing nothing, that makes you something." -SAS
It wasn't really nothing. Grizzlies got Marc Gasol. They did really well with him. I mean if the Lakers traded Andrew Bynum instead of Marc Gasol they would have gotten 3 rings instead of 2. That whole Dwight Howard Lakers deal which was a disaster for everyone would had never happened.
RIP Bill 😭
One of the best trades in NBA history
Now all these videos are being recommend on RUclips
I have been laughing at the “god bless him, is a scrub” part for days, I must have some problems
3:01=Hilarious
really I couldn't stop laughing LOL
Rick having hair is a sight to see but that Walton to Stephen A assist was brilliant.
Man I'm truely grateful the Lakers got this incredible deal off last season. Right around the time Big Drew went down last season I could sense that the Lakers were going to have to go back to Kobe scoring 50 a game in order for them to win. Thankfully Pau came to town and brought the Lakers back to the top of the NBA. Without this great trade I can honestly say last season would have been yet another first round loss in the playoffs to the Suns and quite possibly Kobe leaving L.A.
When you replace nothing, that makes you something ! LMAO
KWAME BROWN, GOD BLESS HIM!!! LMAO!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah god bless a scrub
THE GREAT LUKE WALTON??????? ARE YOU HIGH???
Bryan Mock Well, with his pops as your co host you're gonna talk great about Luke before Bill finds a way to rip you a new one. :D
Lol carlisle was lowkey playing with bill
Bill Walton said pau gasol can think?? Which means Kwame brown wasn't thinking on the court... lol
"Kwame Brown, God bless him, IS A SCRUB!" LMFAO
I know why you’re here
"epic and historic day" come on man, lmao!!
Lmfao!!!! Still funny all these years later.
It was for the Lakers
May Bill Walton RIP. One of my favorite Stephen A reactions to Bill saying Kupchak should be considered executive of the decade 😂
Bill Walton having a coherent thought about basketball is the most interesting and impressive part of this clip
Man Steven A Smith had me dying the way he finished Kwame Brown LMFAO!!
This was one of the best days of my life
I love watching the old scroll bar and looking at all the old names. And the fact that new England was going to Superbowls with TB more than a decade ago
Who else getting these bill walton vidz?
Gotdamn they spazzed on dude 😂😂
On the brink of mediocrity 😂😂😂😂😂 Stephen A SAVAGE
Odom, Bynum, Gasol... "two big of a line-up" Well Bill Walton... you were incorrect on that take buddy
RUclips algorithm knows what it's doing!
1:00 Kwame Brown, God bless him, he's a scrub. Can't run the ball, can't play defense. Lmao best line😂
What's lost in here, is that Pau made the Lakers instant title contenders. Lakers were like 5th in the West and the Spurs were on their way to representing the West again.
RIP Bill Walton. Also I forgot what Rick Carlisle looked like with hair 😂
Hes replacing K.Brown, and then you taking to the fact that you replacing nothing, that makes you something. OMG golden words.
they were right
Bill Walton is really a great passing big, set up Stephen A. with that Kwame Brown trashing.
This is golden! Never gets old! lmao
Never gets old...
Sometimes i really feel bad for Kwame Brown...first MJ rips the hell out of him daily, then this on the way to being one of the biggest draft busts of all time!
Thomas Spychalski kwame also made $64 million in the NBA...that should help relieve some of that pain
Kwame brown God Bless him is a scrub 😂😂
Two things I noticed here
1. Rick has hair
2. The lakers won two championships thanks to pau, because Kobe couldn’t do it alone
This Stephen A Smith is better than 2022 SAS.
