I've got one. As you say, it fills a niche - either travelling somewhere dodgy or doing things that might not be good for a more expensive watch, such as skiing.
I had one a few years ago and sold it along with an a168. Bought another from Argos last year for £22 but have only worn it twice so it just sits in a drawer. Argos currently have them on sale for under £20 and as a watch for rough use or a dodgy environment that's a bargain.
I bought one to be my only digital watch but then discovered that the G shock 5610U looked ok on my small wrist so bought that too. Since then I don't wear the AE1200 so it has to go. As I only paid £22 for it in a sale it will be given away.
Not a comment about the watch, but about making the video: Beware the parasocial slippery slope of leaking bits of personal information. Over time it could accumulate into a profile about you and those around you that you may not want to have out there. I do call it a slippery slope because the sense of having "community" and peers with a set of mostly anonymous strangers (and/or bots) gives people ease to talk more frankly, but it is a distortion from the social media wall of software.
I have one. Love it. It’s my go to travel watch. No way I’m wearing a a nice watch when I travel. Never know what will happen.

Appreciate the concern, there's certainly a line to be found between sharing too much and sharing too little with content like this.
