So much of internet commentary is baseless. It would be like me having a strong negative opinion about all of the downsides of being a billionaire. I am not one and never will be. And while we might be able to imagine some downsides, I bet most billionaires live quite well. The RUclips reviewers themselves are often reluctant to come right out and say "this is silly - these are all great cars (RRs, BMWs, Mercs, Bentleys, etc). It doesn't suck to own any of them". The only thing that remains is the RELATIVE difference or pluses/minuses, but a lot of the commenters treat these relative differences as absolutes: all RRs do this bad thing, or that one. I love RUclipsrs like James - could listen to him talk about paint drying. And I get sucked into the comments where every baseless comment has the same weight as a reasoned, objective comment.@@ogearhead2426

18:26 Jay the reason why so many cars were waiting for parts was because JLR moved their entire parts stock warehouse to a new site - all at once. Was absolute chaos and something like 140,000 parts got misplaced in the process and still havent been found.
Also JLR told their parts suppliers 'we are moving to this new site, send new stock here if you cant figure it out we wont be using you anymore' and funnily enough a fair few said fine, so theyve been trying to sort that out as well with new suppliers. Amazing logistics throughout 👍

    • @monzarace
      @monzarace 7 месяцев назад +1

Some parts are really hard to get, and some just take a few days. The ware house move is true though, and every single time, the dealers roll their eyes and say they are sorry. That must be tiresome, as it's really hitting JLR in a not so good way.
Without meaning this too harsh, I guess there's a reason that so many British companies wither went bust or got bought by foreign companies. They want the names and brands for pushing their own crap.
As for the theft, there are many other brands that gets stolen the same way. As far as I was told, JLR made some software updates and asks owners not to keep their keys close to the car - correspondence.
      Cheers.

Hi James, would like to hear more of your thoughts on Range Rover thefts, in like a sit-down-and-talk style video you sometimes do. I rarely watchMark McCann's videos but the several ones he's done on car security have been very eye-opening. Its quite crazy that a few people can't get quotes from JLR's own insurance. Keyless entry makes it easier for owners to go in-&-out of their car when they are carrying many things but unpopular opinion I know, I think its one of the worst inventions because it has made owners very vulnerable to car theft.

I had a RRS Dynamic Autobiography for three years. Great car to drive, was a bit of a dream fulfilled. But three faults, each requiring going into the workshop, in three years on a £90K car isn't acceptable. And it needed an extra oil service despite the low mileage.
Just as I was thinking of moving it on my (mainstream) insurers wrote to me saying they wouldn't renew at any price, and I live in the sticks and had as good a record as you could have.
I was glad to shift it on when I did at the back end of Covid when used car prices were going up.
Jay looked past the SVR MPG which is truly ridiculous for a daily driver and the continuing massive depreciation.

It struck the perfect balance. First of all, the size is great for British roads. The looks, to me, are lovely also. Mines silver with chrome detailing and the supercharger embossed wheels (found on many an XKR). The build quality is lovely - no squeaks and rattles whatsoever (unlike the facelifts modes that followed). Superb powerplant. 6 speed ZF - I much prefer this to the 8 speed which I had in my XJR 575 (575 rattles and squeaked too much so it had to go). The ride quality is perfectly judged. In comfort it’s comfortable and in dynamic its dynamic but still supple. The ride balance in the XKR was too harsh in comfort and way too harsh in dynamic. Bentley wallowed but didn’t actually ride that well. S63 was just ill judged. AMG GTS was too stiff by a country mile. The bowers and Wilkins sound d system in XFR is majestic. Later meridians are shit and the speakers rattle. Steering is a joy. I’ve upgraded the brakes and they’re a joy with a firm pedal feel. Seats are dreamily luxurious. It’s got the right amount of tech for me - my 2018 S63 was just trying too hard with way too much going on. Throttle response with the supercharged engine is delightful. Noise is perfectly judged. Handling and grip are wonderful with the PS4’s. It’s just a great car that’s been well thought out. And it’s practical as hell. I love it.

JLR suffered during the chip shortage. They actually sold new cars for years with only one key fob and then had a recall to provide a second one when available. The generation of fob used on the SVR in the video is the same throughout the JLR lineup and they are still hard to get hold of today. Your JLR dealer would be happy to get you one if they could.

Got one of these after my RS3. Sold it within 1.5 years and got an SQ8 instead. Had multiple problems with the electronics, engine went bang at 31,000 miles (covered by warranty) but was in and out of JLR garage for weeks. Had 3 men try to break into the house whilst I was awake for the car. (I live in a fairly low crime rate area also never had a problem with my previous cars). Wouldn’t touch a JLR car ever again. I thought I was unlucky but I knew a few who have had issues (from minor to major ones). My SQ8 has been fantastic, not one issue.

I agree re the comparison - interior - between a Range Rover and. Cayenne.
I love the look of JLR products, their capabilities, but friends who are design engineers, whove worked for JLR, those who I know of who work on the lines, the reputation of local dealers, awful reliability on the whole - no thanks.

I think if you do some research, you will find that the other manufacturers have similar backlogs/wait periods for certain parts due to the shortages/delays caused by COVID supply chain issues. I know, COVID was ages ago, right... but it wasn't in manufacturing terms. And I don't know about all JLR dealers, or what they were like in the past, but our dealer is an extremely professional organization with a very high level of customer service.

Februrary 2024 the parts issue was down to 2000 cars, but there was still a workshop backlog for fitting the delivered bits.
October 2023; 10,000 cars waiting for parts with 5,000 immobile at dealerships. Reorganising 18 warehouses to 1 big global logistics setup made a mess of everything for a while, but it should all work better and be more "net zero" when it's sorted - says the guy from JLR in the Autocar article i've just skim read,

The RR Sport is an incredibly capable and good car. I’ve had two over the years and they’ve been utterly bulletproof over long tenures. No reliability issues whatsoever despite constant usage in all applications on or off road. I would buy another in a heartbeat were they remotely insurable. Sadly for me, my renewal quote was £22k so it had to go. Too easily stolen apparently.
