    I am an truck driver with a division of the Eaton Corporation. I've been driving truck for 20 years (18 years with UPS and 2 years with Eaton). My first truck was a 1977 Mack Cabover with no power steering and a 5 speed wet clutch. After years of driving the improvements made to the trucks are beneficial to my body. Lighter, air assisted clutch to power steering, etc. I have only driven an automated transmission once (2015 Mack Pinnicle) and had a good experience. Haven't tried the new trucks but I'm interested to try them. Thank you to all the manufacturers that use Eaton products. They are keeping me rolling and supporting my family. Thank to the manufacturers and the drivers who use them.

      I have no probelm with the manual Eaton trans just the auto air shift junk. I have the enduant in this video and it is garbage. Constantly stalls out of gear in the middle of interaections and cant make up its mind on the highway when slowing down or speeding up. Also the trans also often times will say low air and will not shift. When reversing if you do not stomp the brake pedal will not shift so yoy have to sit there awkwardly blocking traffic. Simple solution is a manual which does not bother me one bit.

    So the money these companies are saving goes into the drivers pocket right? Just curious where the money goes. Especially when there’s so many smaller companies running Peterbilt and Kenworth’s and brand new gliders that cost substantially more than a ProStar while making more money than most big company drivers. So either the small company owners are living off peanuts keeping the drivers happy or the big companies are hiding the money.

    • @RippingWieber
      @RippingWieber 5 лет назад +6

      Big companies are slave drivers small companies have to accommodate all ends which usually ends up prospering for the driver. Because without a driver they loose contracts. Bigger company don't worry about contracts as much.

    • @johnrusselllubo
      @johnrusselllubo 4 года назад +2

      They save a nickel, gives you a penny per nickel saved the rest goes a big glass jar that has a label corporate greed. Thats just plain and simple business. Company makes the profit by the end of the day. If you are insterested of having a jar like this on your own do your research and educate yourself in financial literacy and how to apply it in trucking. Do the work to make it work.

    I absolutely love that truck! All kinds of cool features. And I'm so glad they returned the pull cord for the horn!! It was just super lame when a kid would do the arm thing and you couldn't actually pull anything. Also love the halogen headlights. I can't stand LEDs. I'd like it better with the chrome grill though.

    I drive a red international LT (2020 or 2021) with a mid roof for another company. I will say when they assigned it to me I was at first disappointed in it but the thing has grown on me and I realize it is nicely set up. Model I am in has an EPU and a longer frame for flatbed boxes. Thing has had good traction in the snow as well. And I have a cummins. Wish the mirror mounts had antenna mounts cause the ones at the back of the cab are worthless for picking up anyone in front of me. Behind me isn't so bad since I have a flatbed.
    What I would change is make the wheel city horn easier to push and make it a bit loader then my Volkswagen horn. Would also be nice to have a Swinging TV mount on the back wall with a bungee hold down for when driving. Trying to strap a flatscreen TV on top of a cabinet just doesn't work too well. And a dedicated cabinet for a microwave would also be nice to one doesn't have to give up table top space. And as for the step system for the upper bunk I think it is just stupid and a ladder is easier then trying to find a step half way down and hoping the other guy didn't leave his dinner on it before he ran inside the rest area to the crapper.

  • @The_Humble_Hurricane
    @The_Humble_Hurricane Год назад +1

    Ahhhhh so that IS the step for the top bunk😅 I'm a new otr driver that's been driving solo for two weeks. I'll be starting teams in the next two day's and I've been telling my teammate that idk how the hell we access the top bunk because I couldn't find the ladder haha. I told him that either the steps were as I thought or that one of us had to be a ninja 🥷🏿 so thank you for that clarification 😂

    I drive a 2019 international LT. My issues are the climate control may be closer but but they are too low making me take my eyes of the road to look at the knob to select from different modes like defrost to floor etc. The climate controls should be put.closer to the top. Also the bunk controls for HVAC and inverter is a bad spot on the back wall because I have my pillows there and sleep that way. Andy why put a 12v socket there who's gonna drape a cord across the bed where you sleep?
    Then the side mirrors are set back alittle to much making me lean my head back to look in them when backing. My freightliner before this I simply had to look left or right no leaning my head back far. And one more thing threaded fuel caps suck. Freightliner twist and lock so much easier. The one tank on mine has the threads almost stripped from people cross threading the cap on mine.

    Driving a 2019 right now and god it's a terrible truck. The company I drive for slip seats freightliners and Internationals of the same year and it's rattles like it's held together with scotch tape at 138,000 miles. The ride is horrible when compared to the freightliner and the noise is horrible. The wind noise that seeps through the doors blows my mind. How can a large company like international let something like that actually make production? Makes you wonder what else they would let slip through.

    After spending many years in manufacturing, I really feel like the trucking industry is pretty slow on safety features. I know a lot of guys rely on technical expertise but it's the last thing you need for safety. I'm surprised there's no warning for steering too sharp. Like a grind noise at the no go point to keep people from those hard turns or even a removable guard preventable. Locking points on trailer doors for "lock out" when you are working in the trailer. I think it was in, the power of habit. Great book with some amazing anecdotes about profitable company turn around based almost solely on safety focused habits in both manufacturing and medical companies.

      Fuel mileage and new drivers to lazy to shift....I knew a owner op who ran a 379 with a 750hp Cat,18 spd and 2.60 rears and he could 9 mpg all day long. All this crap they put on trucks today is a waste.

      @@ronaldmorrison6013 it's easier to get better fuel mileage, so a little bit of both.
      I highly doubt it has anything to do with drivers being too lazy to shift or not knowing how... it's not exactly a difficult thing and I cant see a company spending millions just to appease some lazy people that work for them...

      The King's Servant prime inc company is 58/62 mph and leased or leased to own are 65/65 or 63/65mph. They are limited to 65mph due to Canada (I’ve been told haven’t been to Canada so I don’t know if it last true) and 62 for company for fuel efficiency. You have to remember that many of primes drivers are newer most spend 1-5 years (if they continue trucking) before adventuring out to o/o or higher paying companies. Only a few people stay longer than that due to lower pay only advantage is training pay. If

      Don't know if it still works but the idle limiter only engages when the tractor parking brake is set, just set your trailer brakes when you are parked for the night and it shouldn't be a problem. If they found a way around the driver doing that, pay someone with the software to go in to the ECM and shut that option off. Some systems may be password protected and a lot of companies use the last 4-6 vin code as the password
