The third act of 'Broken' is definitely a victim of the story having to release early into the Torchwood main range and having to adhere to a more formulaic Alien Invasion storyline - I imagine if the story had released more recently it would have been happy to remain as a bottle episode esque character piece, likely ending with Jack coming to the bar to drown his sorrows following Ianto's death before giving some sort of eulogy about the character.
Honestly I love it. My favorite one is Restricted Archives, though. Anyway, I like to see the darker side of Ianto that we only really saw in Torchwood Shrouded. From his anger, and then later this translating well with him leaving Torchwood for good in an alternate reality.
This was written by the writer of the Series 2 episode A Day in the Death (one of Torchwood's best episodes) and I wish Joseph Lidster wrote more Torchwood episodes when it was on TV.
speaking of torchwood expanded media, if u ever get a chance to read the book Almost Perfect, very infamous within the fandom lolol but i love ur style of reviews and ur opinions on media so would love to hear ur thoughts on it if u ever do haha
I like your reviews of the Big Finish stuff ❤ my auditory processing disorder makes the accents hard to parse without lips and captions to read so I live vicariously through reviews and as bad as they always are I live for Jack/Ianto stories.
I wish they'd just release Absent Friends already... I know there's the John Barrowman of it all and I don't really have a strong opinion on whether or not Big Finish continue to work with him in the future, but it was a Tenth Doctor story already recorded, edited and _days_ away from release so I don't see any harm in putting it out.
Haven't heard it and only watched a few episodes of Torchwood but I have watched some Sarah Jane's adventure episodes by the same writer that I really liked.
Thanks for that - as someone who enjoys Torchwood and Big Finish Who audios, I’ve been curious about their Torchwood series. My teener got me to rewatch the first two seasons with them a few years ago, it was certainly uneven but IMO entertaining.
Slightly off-topic, I've just finished watching Lockwood and Co for the second time ( on UK Netflix)and was wondering if you have watched this series? I fully recommend it. The first episode gives of very Matt Smith / David Tennant Dr Who vibes. I would love to see you react to the first episode.
After having listened to it I would say War Master Escape from Reality is a must-listen. Even though it is the eighth box set you don’t have to listen to the others to understand it and it’s really good!
Your description kinda reminds me of another story. It's a spinoff starring a Seventh Doctor companion from the EU named Bernice Summerfield. The story is called, "Asking for a Friend"
@@BreakRoomofGeeks I wouldn't hold your breath for them. Roberts is great, and it's wonderful he's got a chance to show off how good he could have been, but aside from that his series has been very lacking imo
Hmm. I wonder if the ending should have been Jack going to the pub after Ianto’s death; that would have made a more thematically fitting conclusion.

It's interesting to compare with "Coffee", a later episode about the coffee show Ianto uses for Torchwood 3 as they experience the series.

This is my favorite Torchwood audio ☺️

Have you listened to the Death of Captain Jack? I love James Marsters so I really enjoyed that one

Enjoyed this one at first, however the final act really disappointed me. The twist undid alot of the good dramatic moments in the first two acts.
Broken is my favourite Doctor Who and Torchwood story
What’s that pin say?
"Chaotic Queer"
Coincidence, I just finished this a day or two ago.
On the subject of Big Finish, just curious if you've gotten around to Eric Roberts Master series yet?
Nope. Trust me I'll put thoughts out there when I do.
@@BreakRoomofGeeks Looking forward to your insight.

I think the appeal of the first film mainly stemmed from the fact it was an comic book film that was ‘artsy’ they’ve lost that novelty with this one.
