When I learned that nothing in the game is actually problematic, its just that people dislike J.K.Rowling, I was in disbelief.
I bought right away. Realising my childhood dream of attending Hogwarts was just great. Probably was the most fun I had with a game in a long while.

I was a huge harry potter fan when I was younger, loved the books and movies. Not a single screech from these boycotters was going to stop me from playing the game I had dreamed of. I was jumping up and down in my seat when the hippogriffs flew by, and when I saw every recognizable location or item not shown in the movies. I am so glad that people saw past the ignorance of the minority and there is likely more Hogwarts stuff in the future.
I'm not a Potter fan, but do like the movies. And this game is amazing to say the least. It really gives me goosebumps.

I'm a woman and a mother. I've loved Harry Potter and the whole world around his character since the first book was published. I bought Hogwarts' Legacy as soon as it was released. Last night I played it for the first time. I'm so excited and looking forward to the whole game immensely. To Sydney Watson, thanks for a modicum of, at a minimum, common sense. This is a great channel.

I HAD MY LIFE THREATENED BECAUSE I DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR GENDER PRONOUN OF CHOICE BECAUSE THIS PERSON IS A TRANS WOMAN. TO ENDANGER A LIFE WITH POLICE BY PROXY TO ME IS CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT MURDER. I am Southern, and being polite in the state of Georgia is basically the law. I passed this person in the grocery store and said "Oh, Excuse me, I'm sorry" and not adding "MA'AM" to that sentence was enough for this person to have me arrested and possibly killed by police is truly fucked up and I think that should be repercussions for being so RACIST, sexist, and outright narcissistic, and misanthropic. These types of people are willing to do anything and everything just to scratch their "NOTICE ME, SEMPAI" itch are insane. I still try my damnedest to respectfully address people because manners are important to most Southern men and women. The ONLY reason I didn't do a video to expose this side of the trans community is because I was raised to believe that you should never judge an entire group of people for the ACTIONS of a few assholes. This KAREN was arrested and charged with FILING A FALSE REPORT, ASSAULT, VERBAL BATTERY, AND ATTEMPTED MANSLAUGHTER IN THE 2ND DEGREE. Hopefully SHE won't hurt anyone else. Gender and sex have always been interchangeable, the narrative always ignored universal truths like most languages being inseparable from both, (to the point of absurdity, like la finestra, or el banco which use gendered pronouns for inanimate objects) and biological realities spanning across species like gametes or eggs.
And, like clockwork, the activists proved logic right, when they couldn't separate toilets & tampon disposal, or sport, or prisons, from pronouns. And terms like 'trans female' further eroded the barrier for biological language to let the sane keep them separate.
I can't imagine how miserable one has to be to let a video game ruin your life so much. They're like an angry ex-girlfriend who used to be obsessed with her boyfriend, got into one fight, and now won't stop devoting her life to tearing his down.

Almost everyone in the UK supports JK Rowling. The activists like to talk about transphobia but what JKR spoke out against was trans women dominating female sports, ungendered bathrooms, so any guy can go into the women’s bathroom, and rapists identifying as women to be sent to female prisons. Hardly anyone disagrees with those positions including most trans people. Trans activists have gone from supporting trans people to pushing the erasure of women entirely. It’s no longer about trans people, it’s about grooming and misogyny.

I’m a lesbian that loves HP and it meant a lot to me growing up, im not changing that to fit into the community. I have a Harry Potter tattoo and am currently working on getting a sleeve. I bought the game and no one is going to shame me for it. To be honest I don’t even think of JK Rowling when I think of HP, I don’t get hung up on everything she says because I have real world problems and I could care less. The LGBTQ+ community has become incredibly toxic and I hate it. Hate that as a lesbian I am immediately connected to it and I want to stay as far away as possible. For a community that preaches love, acceptance, and open mindedness it has become anything but that. To me extreme conservatives and extreme liberals are part of the same coin just different sides. Both trying to destroy everything they don’t agree with and both fail to realize that the world is not so black and white.

I am Pansexual/Bisexual and I agree with all of this. I want to point out that no matter how careful we are as consumers there is likely a few, if not many, people on a project or series that do not have the same views as we do but that never come to light or take years to do so.
I think as long as you, as an individual consume, xan separate your views from the project then it is okay to keep going with your hobby and if you can't it is okay to stop your hobby, but neither should harass the other.

I prefer HP fanfic to canon, but this game is beautiful, deep, and constantly surprises me. I'm enjoying it and not at all grumpy about the price. Cheapest form of entertainment out there, except for public libraries.

@thelastmotel I researched on this and could not find any article that said she was a bully at school. I did find the opposite, that she was bullied at school for many years and even considered suiciding. I read a article from the "Independent" from February when she was murdered, and an article from "the New York Times" from December, when the trial was completed. The trial revealed that the 2 kids had pre-meditated the killing for quite a bit and had already previous failed attempt at murdering her (poisoning with pill overdose) and beyond her, they had 4 more kids in mind to kill. I can not provide links here, but you have the dates/sources I read. Those two 15yo kids were seriously not right in their minds. They apparently received life sentence with a chance of the sentence being cut short.

I could see players on Twitch having a bug making the light completely saturated (it seems that it comes from raytracing which is very poorly integrated into the game) and others have crashes.
Closer to me, my girlfriend has already seen buggy enemies (a spider that spins indefinitely and with which she could not interact) and ui problems (she was no longer in combat and did not lose hp but the animations indicating that she received damage were present on the screen).
For my part I could see chests floating above the ground, NPCs crossing the buildings and my avatar has already crossed the ground, which blocked me below the map (luckily loading a previous save has enough to get me out). Also some textures don't always show up (it's often the character editor eyebrows and the ground for me).
So yeah, the bugs on the game exist and it's a fact that it's very poorly optimized, mainly because of memory leak. Also it's not normal that a lot of people with 3080 or even better graphic cards have trouble getting a smooth gameplay when I'm able to do this via my 2060 with ultra + dlss quality settings enabled.

I like that Sydney pointed out that the distributor just doesn't listen to the backlash because often that's where these cancelations actually get their steam (I swear I wasn't going for a pun) from companies being spineless. Think about successful cancels. What are they? People? Ultimately consumers speak with their wallets. How many of these people actually play games? I work 80-90 hrs a week, so I don't have much time to play video games anymore. I do still buy the ones I would like to play in the hope that one day that will change. That being said, after seeing a couple of trailers for "The Wizard Game" (you're right; that is much more fun to say) it was on my buy list once the price came down. (Because I also remember when games were only $20 within 6 months of release, and I'm cheap!) This video was the first I've heard of any controversy surrounding it. I am now going to pay whatever the current price is to buy a copy as soon as I get my paycheck on Monday. Shoot! I may even purchase a copy from Steam just to thank them for actually having a pair.

I was sat in a pub with my friend the other day and he starts saying how horrific JKR is and how transphobic she was... I asked him "have you actually read what she tweeted?" and he told me he hadn't. I pulled up an article and read him the tweets WORD FOR WORD and he sat there in silence, realizing how wrong he was. It's just turned into communal brain situation. Most people don't even know what she said, they just hear how horrible she is and roll with it...
