CRACKING the 150kg SAFE PRESS!

  • Britain's Strongest Men take on this beast of a press- 2x 65kg 'safes' either end of the bar swing about like a pendulum as these Giants attempt to press it overhead to lockout. A 150kg overhead press is no mean feat, especially when it's swinging about. Control overhead is key in this event.
Filmed at Britain's Strongest Man 2017.

@@jaket2274 he was a danger to himself and his fellow competitors and people were choosing not to compete in WSM because of his attitude. Type in “OD Kazmaier barrel” and watch the vid that comes up. Kaz was competitive to the point of nearly accidentally killing his partner because of his antics. Don’t get me wrong, I admire Kaz and truly believe he was the strongest man alive, but everyone saying he was banned for winning too much are uninformed/didn’t watch the old comps. Kaz would scare people into quitting events because the expressions on his face and sounds he would make would terrify them. Back then many events were more physical and competitors were afraid that they would be injured when facing Kaz.

@@gainsandglory6808 I’ve seen all those videos and seen the OD accident, unfortunately for your point all of these were after his 3 titles and “ban”. Also that comment is a year old my guy

@@jaket2274 I know it happened after his ban but that doesn’t change the fact that that was the general attitude towards Kaz from other competitors and things like this are what got him banned. The OD incident wasn’t the first time something of the sort happened, but it was very memorable since OD was almost seriously hurt. It just happens to be the most obvious example of how his competitive nature and win at any cost attitude could be potentially harmful to other competitors. I am not taking away from Kaz or saying that he is not a champion but there was no conspiracy against him. He was not held back by his ability to dominate the sport; he held himself back due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

Exactly what I was saying, why they wouldnt have the red bar adjustable so every guy has it at the perfect height. This way the shorter guys literally just step under it, and press. The taller guys have to squat down, arch their back, put hte pressure on their spine. Its a complete disadvantage. Hell if I was a shorter guy Id want it that way, I wouldnt want to win the competition knowing I had an unfair advantage over the taller guys

because if we're being realistic, it isnt fair to taller athletes. It be one thing if they could adjust the red bar, adn keep the weight, so that every guy has it at the correct height. But it isnt fair if the shorter guys, just step under and press, while the taller guys have to squat so far down, arch their back, basically putting the pressure on their spine.

Fact is - horses for courses. Eddie is built to press and Felix - at this standard - is not a good presser. Simple as that. And btw - being above average height is an advantage. Genuinely. Such a wobbly lift demands leg drive. The best in the world at this is 198cm tall.

The taller guy with longer limbs needs more force to lift the weight. That's the disadvantage of longer limbs. However longer limbs generate more force when you are throwing or striking.

If tom stoltman would just get his static strength up for pressing and deadlifting hes gonna be the king of strongman for a long time.

He said on Instagram today he's got a 455kg deadlift down now so he seems to have impressed alot. Ironic Luke's a great presser and Tom isn't. Guessing the height doesn't help him.
