Same, it's like Sumo meets highland games, and looks much safer for strongmen to compete in than the disastrous attempts at actual sumo from them (highly injurious)

Am I the only person who'd still prefer to see Eddie and Thor battle it out in a one on one strongman comp vs a boxing match?
Eddie has gotten so much weaker and thor has gotten stronger. So we know who would win now.
@@nars8269 If they were training for pro strongman, instead of amateur boxing, it would be a good contest. It's just sad they can make more from an exhibition bout in the ring than they can as a pro in their own sport.

Which is still not fair to the athletes that didn't get caught. People get motivation and mental strength if they feel pride in representing their country. Russians tend to be pretty patriotic. It is absolute nonsense to Punish every Russian Athlete because of the ones that got caught.

Thor looked like he was the entire driving force in all these matches. Every time he unleashes, he was successful in pushing the other team back.

@@kingket23 and he pressed down making eddie lift and push from higher because eddie had the log soolow that felix couldnt ever have strength really throughout the entirety. The beginning eddie drove sooo hard and felix couldnt really get control once thor pressed down felix got control and eddie was so hogh up he couldnt help anymore. Thor n the other nigga immediately pressed in and launched em to oblivion, awesome teamwork

Strongman competitions need more stuff like these in my opinion apart from the heavy lifting and pushing/pulling. Nowadays WSM is like a more entertaining powerlifting meet. I would like to see armwrestling and mass wrestling also in strongman.
Things like these are great but, to me, arm wrestling and sumo is to dangerous for them, not that what they do is not dangerous but, leave the wrestling to wrestlers.
Also wrestling relies a lot on technique and cardio conditioning. Why have an event in WSM where the strongest guy can lose because they did not spend enough time on cardio?
I agree itd be much more fun but unfortunately it’d increase injury risk a lot more.

@@gromse5616 Medley events are per definition cardio. Strongmen definable need to haveg good cardio, and running around is certainly more cardio than arm wrestling.

given thor has twice the reach on Eddie in boxing, "even boxing" is probably not well put ;) I'm certain Eddie would win several strongman comps though. But that won't ever happen given these guys are not strongmen anymore

Poor Eddie got an injury. His asshole opened up two miles as the date came closer. It took 501 stitches to close it back up.
Terry looks like he lost the weight of an entire person.

These types of event were so awesome to watch, always reminded you of school sports day

And Eddie is a smaller man that will makes it more impressive. While Thor being a 6'9 and can put more muscle than Eddie. And Thor weighs massively 206kg the time he broke the record.

Is anyone impressed seeing what Terry Hollands (referee) has done to his body? The fact he competed in a body building competition not too long after this? It's pretty amazing really, way more impressive than people give it credit. I'd rather see Eddie and Thor just straight head to head. More people would likely care about that than watching these to pretend box each other. It's going to be a lot of sucking wind and circling.

@Quim Rodellas in what lift was eddie way stronger? log squat and axle maybe a little, but still the same ballpark. in anything else peak thor is simply putting up higher numbers than peak eddie. Hell even thors powerlifting total is over eddie's, because his grip is too bad to perform well in the deadlift

I used to love this event in the old WSM competitions. It used to be 1v1 and it was very entertaining to see that kind of battle.

He had to train for years only to beat Eddie’s record in his OWN gym not at an official event like Eddie did. Eddie on the other hand is just a nice person.

Only Eddie and his fanboys say it isn't because Thor smashed Eddie's record like it was nothing, no falling drama queen and countless videos of behind the scene footage.
Eddie Hall is 90% pure heart, its hard not to be a fan of that beast of a man.

He has never beaten Eddie at a pressing event unless maybe Eddie was injured. He only beat him at the Deadlift 3 years later well after Eddie retired. Event for event I will say Thor edges Eddie but he was never better at Static events.
