They don't have a big budget, and doing it in places like Botswana and Malaysia is cheaper than anywhere else. It's kind of strange that last year it was held in the tropical state of Florida. Strongman had grown in popularity a lot through Brain/Eddie/Thor, and they could have afforded to go anywhere in the world that year. Of course, they end up going to one of the most expensive countries on Earth to do it, and they still somehow fuck up that decision by choosing one of the hottest places in that country. Somebody should have gotten fired for such a bullshit move.

      Interesting comment, Keith.
What is also amazingly crazy is when you realize the 10th place in this competition is probably 3 times stronger than the strongest guy you'll ever meet in your whole life, including each and every gym you'll ever train.
Ordinary people have no idea how superhumanly strong these guys are, including the 10th place.

When it comes to deciding weights in events "I have some experience, helping run local shows" your bottom 3rd should zero or fail to complete. your middle of the pack group should manage to finish or have a low end single digit rep count, and your top 3rd should be above 5 reps for rep events. most carry events the winner will usually be between 11-20 seconds, loading low 20s, unless a carry and load. The truck pull this year would be considered too difficult, and changes should've been made during testing.

His hands aren't small, they're just not freakishly huge. Mark Felix has the biggest hands in pro strongman. A good deal bigger than Shaw or Thor. You don't have to take my word for it, you can easily verify online. Second after Felix is Phil Pfister.

These guys are amazing. They don't get the recognition they deserve. One thing I can't figure out is why they hold these contests in places such as Malaysia and Zambia and places in the world which hold such heat and humidity. Look at the athletes competing, either European, American, Canadian. How the hell can you expect these guys to preform at the highest level when they are not climatised to the heat and humid conditions? Surely if they're holding the Arnold classic in the states then have the WSM in Europe? Just a suggestion.

Any other professional athletes that went 8 straight years having only two champions would be definitely more well-known. Even if it was in the NHL. For some reason world strongest man doesn't get any recognition. Civicus and Shaw dominated this competition from 2009 until 2017 when Eddie Hall finally want it for Britain. Great stuff, and an inspiration to us all.
