Hey! It's Amanda- Sorry about the lack of fun music! We have a very strict data wiping policy so we could only send things that we confirmed were wiped. Hope you enjoy the nuggets and thank you, on behalf of all of us at Free Geek Twin Cities, for shouting us out and for the generous donation!!

Part of the cleanup was assisted by the wonderful people at Free Geek, and I can't tell y'all how wonderful those people are! I even still have the free shirt they handed out to all of us one day, so happy to have had a chance to work with these guys and gals!
I'd double check the Eee PC. There could be a possible chance of it still working. Sometimes when something takes too much power from a port on a mainboard, it will render a lot of things unusable. I had some external hard drive mounts that would sap a lot of power from my ports on my desktop, and all my peripherals would just quit working.

That USB A to USB A is actually dangerous. Like it could fry the USB port and in your case it somehow killed all mouse function (if it was it's fault).
this type of cable can actually be dangerous when trying to connect two pcs together, especially when both are on unisolated power. connecting a nugget to a laptop with this should be fine.
I was about to comment that. It technically isn't even a "USB cable" since a cable with the same connector on both sides is not compliant with the USB standards. It's okay for USB-C because it finally allows for power going in both directions and the devices negotiating voltages between each other so that neither one gets fried.
I suspect the touchpad is over internal USB and the male to male did at least crash it. A powercycle could have released it, not sure if dank tried that.

Those Philips GoGear MP3 players are damn near indestructible. I have a slightly different model and have been using it for 21 years now. It has literally been through hell and high water. The battery held a good charge up until it started ballooning in 2019 and after removing it the device still works great plugged into my car's USB port. The sheer resilience of those nuggets would give a Nokia 3310 a run for it's money.
The zen MP3 player was a flash to the past, I remember having one as a kid and that nugget was a beast, it survived every drop and the battery lasted for what felt like forever.

The Eee PC might not be dead. Try rebooting it without the Jukebox and see if you can get the mouse working. You might also need to use the power plug after all, so it doesn't pull too much load through the USB port. That can cause wonk on some older laptops.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a nugget nuggety enough to not only have some janky connection, but to require a double male-ended USB-A connector, whilst simultaneously having enough storage to still be somewhat usable today
Well, "usable" outside of the fact that the original generation of double-male USB-A designs would fry USB boards because there was no power limitation. Or, as FreeGeek aptly put it; the demons inside it.
Wow that Dell brings back memories. A good friend of mine growing up had one - I'd never seen another one before or since, but we spent many hours enjoying music off that thing.
Sir Pods - for the Eee PC, I dunno what kind of ancient nugget hardware we're working with, but bottom line it just seems like it's not communicating with any mouse driver, otherwise it's working fine. You have some potiential options; Worth noting you can press Ctrl + Esc to access the Windows menu, then usually Tab and arrow keys to navigate your options on any given window. Device Manager > Trackpad driver > Uninstall driver, then reboot, it should (normally) reload the trackpad driver on boot if it's not there to begin with. You can do the same with the USB mouse, usually those are plug-n-play drivers though, and the fact that both aren't working (and your taskbar doesn't appear) just screams to me potiential OS corruption of some kind. You may also experience trouble loading any new driver at all if that's the case. If trying to reload the trackpad doesn't work - Open Command Prompt and run "sfc /scannow" to check for any corruption, it'll automatically try to fix it if it detects something. This is about as far as I would go on a software level for a machine this old, if it can't detect anything here and nothing's working, that calls for a OS reinstall in my mind. If it has complications during an OS reinstall, you're probably looking at something wrong with the HDD (most of the time in my experience). Wanted to chime in since the purpose of Free Geek is re-using old tech and I come from a background of needing to fix the nonsense that comes along with that.
I can't get enough of these videos! Be it about headphones (favorite segments), nuggets (second favorite), or just anything music related (tied with first)! So glad youtube randomly suggested your channel a few weeks ago.
3:03 Macintosh poisoning shows, he can't use a computer without a mouse Also, you have to exit out of the dialogue before it will try to install a device.
Holy crap I remember the little Dell nugget! My mom had one and used it for years before finally getting an iPod. I'm sure if I dug around my parents house long enough I would find it.
Always a good day when there's a nugget dip. Love hearing the microphon e's in these ol' things, as well as your crazy stories. Thanks for the 14 minutes of fun, Danksy.
Still have both of those iRivers. The larger one had excellent audio quality. I even got the larger H340 later on too. Still have them. The Smaller H10 with the touch slider I always had an issue with. The clip that held the battery in was never that good and even in the case, occasionally the battery came loose. Again, audio quality was fantastic though. You need to get some Cowon nugs. Interfaces are pretty bad, but oooh, the battery life and sound quality.
My query, however, is this: If Otto appears only in the Minions: Rise of Gru, where is he then in Despicable Me One, Two or Three? Will we get a Minions spin-off solely delving into the backstory of this lovable, plump henchman? Or will his appearance and eventual disappearance forever remain a mystery? Oh how I shall toss and turn this night.
My Dad had one of those Dell Jukeboxes and I had completely wiped it from memory until you pulled that thing out and that cursed scroll wheel brought me back. If I recall correctly he used it with Rhapsody. (Basically Spotify before Spotify)
Wade, You should've also request an older pro laptop from freegeek like an older ThinkPad or HP Elitebook, especially the Thinkpad would be a nice replacement for the EeePC since they have protection on the USB ports against short curcuits. (I think that wierd double USB-A cable fried the USB controller of the EeePC)

10:51 i love the youtube sticker on that camera like you can tell it has aged very well
Sir Pods - for the Eee PC, I dunno what kind of ancient nugget hardware we're working with, but bottom line it just seems like it's not communicating with any mouse driver, otherwise it's working fine. You have some potiential options;
Worth noting you can press Ctrl + Esc to access the Windows menu, then usually Tab and arrow keys to navigate your options on any given window.
If trying to reload the trackpad doesn't work -
Open Command Prompt and run "sfc /scannow" to check for any corruption, it'll automatically try to fix it if it detects something.
3:03 Macintosh poisoning shows, he can't use a computer without a mouse
Also, you have to exit out of the dialogue before it will try to install a device.
This was fun, it's nice when the nuggets are fairly interesting, and boy was that dell in nice condition.
Let’s go, it’s my favorite Australian guy who yells at mp3 players. This is why I look forward to every Thursday
Holy crap I remember the little Dell nugget! My mom had one and used it for years before finally getting an iPod. I'm sure if I dug around my parents house long enough I would find it.

That reaction is priceless! 😂😂😂
0:51 was the cutest giggle ive ever heard. brought me sheer joy.
1:45 oh man I wanted one of those SO BAD back in the day! Ended up getting a Creative Nomad and...was probably better for it.
This is why I live in Minnesota, for cool stuff like this. We have our own nugget store, so we don’t need to deal with eBay.
0:50 I didn't know Dank was a fan of Aging Wheels!

this moment literally had me choking
My Dad had one of those Dell Jukeboxes and I had completely wiped it from memory until you pulled that thing out and that cursed scroll wheel brought me back. If I recall correctly he used it with Rhapsody. (Basically Spotify before Spotify)
You can prove that he doesn't always think about things because he didn't try the second iRiver's charger on the first one.
6:42 It's a true story, does that mean they are all true?
Wade, You should've also request an older pro laptop from freegeek like an older ThinkPad or HP Elitebook, especially the Thinkpad would be a nice replacement for the EeePC since they have protection on the USB ports against short curcuits. (I think that wierd double USB-A cable fried the USB controller of the EeePC)
Just found this channel, super bingable stuff, happy to catch a new one
