Looks 100x better
Crazy seeing all the wires. Here in Switzerland all of the wires are in the ground in pipes, safe where they should be.
With how well the stamped concrete work looks, I think you should come up with some sort of strapping or brackets to attach the drainage pipe to the siding. The cinder blocks really takes away from the rest of the project.
Yea it looks like somebody pulled up and stole that drainage pipe's wheels overnight.
I agree but I don't like drilling into the side of the house. I talked to the owners about both options and we went with blocks.
Yeah, I wonder if something could be constructed, by the homeowner, out of pressure treated lumber that could be painted that dark gray to hold them up while not being such an eyesore.
yea that could be neat. maybe a raised long slim flower bed above a short wall/fence@@michaelnaak
Hello from the Netherlands.
thanks for the video Shawn .
Sincerely Hollandduck
Thank you!
Yes, I do remember this job. I'm glad you are still at it. Crazy weather this year, all over.
Thank you!
Patio looks extremely nice. The color turned out great. Another nice job!
Thank you Steve!
When Ronald placed that last rock, the whole job came together. 😂😂😂
I saw right away you had your new concrete guys doing this job. They do great work. I had no idea stamping concrete was so involved, it was interesting to see the process. I always hold my breath on these concrete jobs; there's so much that can go wrong. It's impressive to see it done well. As far as that drain pipe, I'm sure it looks a lot better to the homeowner than a moldy wet basement you have to splash through every time it rains.
Thank you Malcolm! Yes, the owners are thrilled with the pipe and the water pouring out at the curb. Sometimes you just don't have both looks and results.
Once again you have done a great job, and even went the extra mile with that fire ring. You and Ron continue to work wonders for your clients, and the results speak for themselves. I look forward to seeing more videos of your upcoming projects!
😁
The concrete looks nice with that texture. I've never seen that process done before. Looks like you save the customer quite the mess with that cardboard. Nice job.
That little concrete buggy looks like it’s been a great purchase
It's been great Ry! I just had to replace the honda engine in it though. It started smoking and lost power for no reason.
I always enjoy your work. In this case though, sealer looks nice at first but is just a maintenance problem. Thanks.
Great looking job! Love you helped them with their fire ring. Above and beyond with the customer service!
It came out nice but you need to spray the sealer on with a quality hand pump tank sprayer rather than have paint roller lap marks. Also eliminates the need to cut in with a brush if you use a spray shield against the home. Spraying is also easier and faster and spreads out evenly rather than sometimes pooling in the stamped crevices which accelerates drying time.😇
Great tip!
@@DesignBuildFixReview The thing with weeds is they can never be 100% prevented. You could put a pre-emergent down prior to the weed fabric and that might give you a couple seasons of prevention but weeds eventually find a way.
@@DesignBuildFixReview The problem with any "weed fabric or cardboard is that over time dirt, dust, grass clippings, etc., will settle onto the rocks or gravel and then the underlying fabric will hold it there. Now you've got a layer of dirt for the weed and grass seeds to establish itself. The weed control is only temporary at best.
@@barrygrant2907 You are right, i was redoing some 10 years old rock beds with weed fabric on bottom and there was 2-5cm layer of dirt on bottom. Took lot of effort to clean it all up and have clean gravel again
@@barrygrant2907 Yes. Reality is you need to spray roundup once or twice a year. Or, hand pull the weeds.
I had no clue that this existed, it turned out absolutely stunning, so happy you showed us this, their place will look amazing when all grass and so on grown back, also you did right in telling them about the cardboard, it will save them a lot of pain in the future
I had no idea this was a thing. Very interesting!
Another great project.
Very Weldon
Thank you!
The patio is awesome! I wish I would have had the concrete guys do my driveway like that. Keep up the good work Shaun!
Love the color on the patio!
Same. The homeowners picked this out!
That stamped concrete turned out nice! I had no idea it would turn out like that. They can now enjoy their backyard oasis.
The color you add to the concrete is also expensive. It does add some new texture to the concrete along with the stamping.
These guys do some clean work.
Indeed. They are extremely expensive though!
@@GCFD Yea I've heard from my cousin who learned to stamp concrete how well it pays $_$
Nice job on this Sean and crew. The pipe, it serves a purpose, and it's needed. My only gripe is how you have it held up. I'd have mounted to the home rather than bricks, which is the only reason I think it "looks bad". I am not a huge fan of stamped concrete especially colored concrete. My main issue with stamped is the minute they place a table out there, it'll wobble. haha. But I am sure those pavers weren't much better. Overall, looks great and I am sure those home owners are SUPER pleased.
Great job! The new concrete crew seems much better than the old crew. I can tell they know what they're doing. You should make some flaps for your concrete buggy like the "Concrete with the Hauses" RUclipsr uses. It'll help with the splashing.
when the got his first look at the concrete and told the sommelier to pour the rest 😂
👍
Thanks for sharing!
I see you brought your number 1 worker with you to finish up,👍
Indeed!
Nice, Defin a lot of work to get it all done, thats one of those custom type's that im sure it looks a lot better in person & the camera's only go so far.
Looks great❤❤
Nice to see(& hear) the laser level being used. I never saw the other contrete lads use one. Great stuff as always. 👌
That patio came out Very nice, and i like the idea of pinning the slab to the foundation. Another great job!
Looks great
This is great. I want my whole backyard in concrete walkways now.
I think the slow motion shot of the release being spread was the money shot on this one.
Nice Job!
Great job on this project. When the concrete truck backed in, I noticed the driveway is in bad shape. Maybe that's the next big project for this homeowner.
Another great job and super video. Those are 2 large sections of patio I would have put a joint parallel with the house at midway point essentially having 5 sections instead of 3. Awesome none the less
Thank you!
The pipe hanging off the wall looks getto. I encourage using wall pipe hangars. There is a PVC hangar that would look good in that spot.
Well Shaun at first i wasn't liking the stamped concrete idea, but seeing the finished job i have come to like it especially with the sealer on, well done to all that was involved in the job and it was really great camera footage 👍👍
Thank you Taylor! I really have no role with this concrete crew, so that frees me up to spend all my time on the camera work. I'm glad you noticed!
Looks great Sean- nice work as always! Thanks for another great video for us.
You can acid wash and brush it too. Leaves a different look. Victory Outdoor Services does some great patios! Watch some of his stuff and you will see how he does it and his stuff looks amazing! Your patio turned out great also!
Did you notice they poured concrete onto dirt/sand? No gravel at all 😂 no rebar as well or any type of mesh.
Erosion will cause movement from underneath without adding any type of rock. The ground is too soft for there not to be movement.
Glad the drainage works, sucks it looks so bad
Agreed! But the basement has been completely dry and the pipe is in an obscure area.
Nice job
This is the first time w/so many negative remarks re: PVC on cinder blocks from the guys. I researched what I feel will solve the problem. I do agree with the men 100%.
Everbilt 5/16 in. x 7 in. Gray Vinyl Coated Steel Screw-In Utility Hook 20 lbs with the end going up ($2.28ea.). "The 20 lbs. Screw-In Utility Hook is made of steel and has a protective vinyl coating. This hook is ideal for hanging a lawn chair, bike rack, yard equipment or sports gear. It features a sharp point that bites into wood quickly and easily. For an easier installation, a bar of soap or wax (not included) can be used to lubricate the threads. Install into studs is recommended." Jeannette
Patio turned out great. Nice job, as always.
However, as a ranch hand whose job is cutting the grass, I'd curse that not-quite-a-mower-width strip between the patio and the fence every time I mowed. They put in some rocks along the driveway here and it's like four inches too narrow to get between the rocks and the patio. I gotta go all the way around the house to cut the bit between the patio and the driveway and it chaps my hide every week. 😂
very nice job.
Cool how you worked within their budget the first time. "function over looks" with the pipes coming down Supported on the cinder blocks. Lots of companys refuse lesser paying jobs but its super cool to see how you guys scale to the expensive and buget options.
looks like real slate!
It really looks great!
As always, a great video of yours to watch. Nice to see the intricacies of how it gets done. Good work guys, it really looks great.
Thank you!
I thought all your concrete trucks were front dump didn't know you guys had rear dump
I'll be calling you soon about replacing my septic field.
[Edit} RUclips discount maybe?
Well done, clean work. ✔✔
There is nothing wrong with that pipe showing. It looks perfectly fine.
Good work!
Thank you David!
Wow they been working on that back yard. It looks really nice.
Good Job Bud...I saw some checking up on the concrete crew to make sure you didnt have to come back for grade...Please keep up the great work!
Thank you!
I watch your videos all the time. One of my favorite channels to watch. I'm sure making these videos have improved your business. Was wondering what software do you use to make your videos?
Looking forward to the next video!
Since you asked for thoughts, having rebar where hot tub is going to be would have been good insurance, and pinning to foundation isn't good idea as the slab and foundation move at different rates, at least here where ground freezes
Good job! Looks much better with little maintenance required. I painted concrete pavers with paint mixed with a little sand in it to make it grip when you walk on it.
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤
Thers more camera action than work 😂😂
Looks great no Doubt
As a lover of the internet, that wire just hanging up/out there scares me for wintertime.
Wow nice job by all of the workers 👍👍
I did have visions of your drone going a full eight bubbles into the top of the mixer truck..but I see you had it angled in case of failure Shawn lol
Haha 👍
Looks good Sean ! No wonder why it is embarrassingly expensive, a lot of steps and labour involved. Hopefully much less maintenance over time relative to a patio made of traditional slabs, but I suspect there will be the need to jet wash it every spring. I assume the sealant can cope with jet washing ?
The sealer helps keep it much cleaner!
[off topic constructive criticism] I have been studying floodplains & IMO if you had Lidar(or use the water-table-depth from USGS) on a freshly-mowed/&-cleaned yard then you could produce both a 2D & 3D solutions for any inch of flash-flood the property may experience. As an example my entire area was Federally Lidar back in 2018 & it even sees power lines, make of vehicles, 3d measurements.... the data is free & can be viewed on the USGS entwine viewer or applied to some other more sophisticated solution,
Job well done.you are kond of privilegeed to have so many loyal amigis working 27:07 for you😊.i was just wondering why you guys never use a steel reo mesh for reinforcement to stop t h e concrete from breaking and cracking.keep up the good work.good luck
it really turned out nice.....but this is a heck of a work. imagine you want a linear pattern. great job and informative video as usual.^^
Came out nice but it would’ve came out nicer if you used a sprayer for the sealer by using a paint roller it leaves overlapping marks 😮
The overlapping marks are gone after is dries.
New concrete crew just made me go.. What the heck? Just keep on watching and see how things go.
What did you think Rick?
Thanks for the video. Not sure I'd want my hot tub or sauna sandwiched between a fence and vinyl siding with a big PVC pipe and concrete blocks though... Weird decisions by the homeowners.
They don't have a lot of room back there.
Yea I'd have put it on that empty corner where they didn't put concrete.
@@rjsmith2007 They probably have plans for flowers or whatever there. I don't think you'd always want to be staring at your hot tub whenever you are sitting in your garden either, so making sure the garden has a homogenous feel is probably a key aspect here.
Joints are better put in when concrete is wet. Use a string line and to determine how many and we’re to put.
5:55 move the pipe out of the way and put it back later
Hi Shawn, another great job done by GCF&D. I see you’re using a new cement crew. No longer going with Harvey’s crew? Looks great love the look of the stamped patio. ……Bobby
You and the guys kick ass 💪💪another amazing job. Question: Why the full bubble and not a 1% or 2% slope. Their going to have shim it up alot
It's a control joint, not a constriction joint
At the start you say something like the customer wanting 'something fancier'. To me, concrete can never be fancier than properly laid brickwork like they already had. Concrete is just so common and standard (even with the dye and stamping) that I just cannot escape that prejudice. Then again, I do tend to feel that my judging standard heavily includes how long it lasts, and in my experience concrete that has had a few decades of use tends to be in way worse shape than pavement, and even then I find that dilapidated pavement looks better than dilapidated concrete. I lack a good sense of how much the sealing affects all of that, though.
Mind you: the work you guys did is absolutely stellar!
I think the patio looks great, but it seems like the texture would increase the likelihood that water would sit on it and dirt would accumulate. If you have time to regularly clean the patio, is the way to go, but I think I'ld rather have something that the water runs off quickly to reduce the amount of times I would need to clean the patio. It was pretty though.
👍👍👍
Hopefully that sealer had gator grip or equivalent in it, nothing more dangerous and slippery than a sealed stamped patio.
I hate sand under pavers, better to have gravel to allow drainage sand hold water !
You need 3/4" of sand or rock dust under pavers to properly seat them. No more, no less.
Smart crew wearing masks with that release powder in the air. I watch another concrete youtube channel and they never wear masks when stamping and I just can't imagine the respiratory issues they'll have in the future.
Patio looks great.
Those masks don’t do jack at keeping silica dust out of your lungs, they need to use N95, but they’re boss is probably too cheap to buy the crew proper PPE
I only wish they had N95 or KN95. Theirs are better than nothing, but my goodness by watching this I thought "they need more" than this! 😂
@@PeatedSander Well true but I suppose something is better than nothing.
when you were saying he might want a buggy with a bad engine, is that because bad-engine buggy + cost of new engine you put in yourself is way less than one with a good engine? (saving money through swapping in a good engine yourself)
This looks great, everyone did such a good job. Curiosity question, where it goes around the corner is there a reason the customer didn't want the pad "Squared Off"? I'm talking about the section that looks like it's missing so to speak.
Still never understood why you didn’t use unistrut. It would have been so much cheaper than those cinder blocks and looked 1000x better
Looks great! What are they going to do for the path from the gate to the patio?
Suggestion, but you could have got a couple large fancy "L" brackets and supported the PVC pipe instead of Cinder blocks, would have looked much better.
Came out nice. What happen to your other concrete contractor. Notice you’ve used others in recent videos. These new guys seam to do better quality 👍👍
Watch Victory Outdoor Services, Ryan really knows how to do concrete stamped surfaces. He says it is not that much more difficult to do the stamping with lines as long as the stamps used are of good construction and quality.
No steel re-enforcement rebar mesh?
No. It's not used or needed in our climate and subsoils. I lived in Colorado for awhile and you can't have too much rebar in there. The bentonite will get all concrete out there, or the cold.
Why not put in a dry well and a sump pump to pump the water out to the street?
Why cant you clamp or a soffit to hold the pipe to the wall instead of using the cinder blocks? Or get a welder to fabricate a U to mount it to the wall to hold it. I think the pipe looks fine but the blocks take away from the tidiness of the area
You absolutely could do that. I just don’t like drilling into the side of a house.
@@GCFD
A few 4" x 4"concrete bases in the ground could accommodate pipe supports screwed into them to hold the pipe, and you can get adjustable ones to help with flow. I would agree that they might not look as tidy as supports screwed into the wall, but they would look better than concrete bricks.
Honestly the homeowners are welcome to change it anytime. I remember the original video when it was installed. The whole story was there.
Looks great but where are your original concrete crew
why not do the fire pit floor out of the same stamped concrete color? would have cost more but it would have look way better, I think.
Why would they put cardboard under the stone area anyway?
Where has Miguel been? He's funny
I was a little skeptical when you got going with the stamped pattern but it came out awesome in the end! Did you post this yesterday and then take it down? I got done watching it and went to comment but it would’ve let me and then when I looked to get back into it, the video was gone.
😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
