you are a great mechanic, I worked the trade for years as well, you explain the operations perfectly, anyone can follow your direction, you would make an excellent teacher
Thanks very much for this. Very informative and easy to follow. I’ve been trying to find a video that my little brother could understand and I’ve found it. You just make a 19 yr old with his own lawn business back in action!
If you have trouble getting the lower ball joint and spline to go back in the knuckle try loosening the lower control arm bolts and removing the strut bolt. I struggled getting the knuckle back on until I loosened the control arm up. It was a miserable job dealing with rusted bolts. I replaced the whole front end including the struts.
M16x2x122 is the factory size for the shock to lower control arm bolt for a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 for anyone wondering, I called the dodge dealership in my town and got that number from them. Replaced mine with a grade 8 bolt from a hardware store
Great video you should start telling people at the start of the video how much your saving by doing it yourself and how long the job should take I just watched A1 auto and told thar guy the same I think it would help alot of people keep up the great videos

Great video. I was trying to get a pair of new lower control arm mounting bolts, but I can't seem to find them anywhere for my 04 ram 1500. Where could I find them?
Great video. I have a 2002 4WD Ram 1500. The uppers need replacing. Can I just undo the 3 nuts and swap a new upper control arm in or is there more to it?
What size are the strut mount bolts? Looking to replace mine since theyre rotted into the lower control arm. Also what size are the control arm bolts? I havent had much luck on the internet finding the right sizes
what year is that truck? i just looked at mine and it doesnt look that easy on mine. i have torsion bars and shocks, no struts. Im a little confused because the one youre working on is a 4x4 as well. any insight on the ones with torsion bars?
+CommonSense49 Thanks for watching! This was done on a 4x4 model and it is around a 2006 model year vehicle. While some of this might appear different on your vehicle, the process should be similar!
@@TRQ the steps are similar to remove the spindle but are completely different to remove the actual control arm. they must have changed over to the strut/spring assembly in 2006.
This is a very misleading video this is NOT how u do it for a 2002 through 2006!!!! No mention of a torsion bar or the most important things!!!please update and do those actual years

THIS VIDEO IS NOT ACCURATE FOR 2002-2005 TRUCKS! Do not rely on this video for 3rd gen trucks in the 2002-2005 range, this video was shot using a 2006 to 2009 truck.
Yeah I just found this out when trying to remove my LCA. You need to remove your shocks and compress your springs or that thing is not coming out no matter how many loving bonks you give to the knuckle.

“Loving bonks” is my new favorite term while doing mechanical maintenance on my truck 😂 Thank you for this 🙌🏻
Excellent video, well produced, with no malarkey.

If anyone is wondering the adjuster bolt and nut for the lower control arms are 24mm. Well, they were on my ‘06 not sure if they’re all the same

Made this look easy! If my truck had not been from the Midwest I would have don’t this myself. That rust is to much!

Just swap it
This should be titled 2006 to 2009.
The 02 to 05 had torsion bars, not struts. Completely different animal.
Didn't you worked at 1A autoparts?
nice to see someone working on a rusty POS like my Dodge! PA rust belt.
Can the the control arm bolt be in either direction. I have a lift kit on my truck and the rear bolt is close to my cv axle.
Video well done 👍
How is TRQ control arms doing? I’ve had to change different ones out that sucks asss and don’t last
awesome job

TITLE IS INCORRECT the 2002 - 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 uses Torsion Bars on the front NOT Coilovers.
At 6:32 does it matter which way the strut bolt faces?
Figuring out how to seperate that freaking ABS connector was a freaking nightmare without watching this! 😂
+SpaceCoastKid Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I'll just take it to a mechanic
How much would labor typically cost for this job?
Anything suspension related in my opinion is $700-$1200.
My adjustable bolt is hitting my axle can’t take it out

It’s for a 4x4 tho

06-08 Rams 4x4
Lol 😆 great job. He makes it look super easy.

A little rushed but good video .
That a 4 wheel, coils and shocks are different on mine
It’s definitely a 2wd
4wd has a different setup Idk why they didn’t specify that
Nvm just watched it all the way through and it’s fs a 4x4 idk why my buddys is different
@@brycehemrich5224 no, that is a 4x4, its simply an 06+ style front end, they had coilovers instead of torsion bar suspension
So... I ain't got the tools. Think I'll leave to the experts.
is't a upper
You really don’t have to do all that lol
