- Опубликовано: 11 июн 2024
- Not long ago I discovered a semi-abandoned campsite complete with firepit and a big pile of firewood on some private property. I've been wanting to go stealth motocamping there for a while now, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to test out the compact motorcycle camping gear kit from this video: • Can I Fit An Entire Mo...
So, along with my buddy Ducfan, we loaded up our dual sport motorcycles and headed off on a stealth camping adventure. Join us as we motorcycle camp, make drinks with a breast milk container (why, Ducfan?), and enjoy the ultralight motorcycle camping kit put together by our friend @MotoCampNerd

3 minutes in, I think I just figured out who owns the property, it's your property, and you should go up there more often.
I have no idea what you mean...
Also - don’t let the people who gave you **** about the bushcraft shelter get to you… They suck, and we’re just big kids at heart. Don’t let the negativity influence you. I loved it, thought it was fun, and it’s YOUR property. Enjoy the ride.
A "Getting Caught" gag scene at the end would have been hilarious
By myself? 😂
@@DorkintheRoad Could suddenly realized you are the owner and chased your buddy away :D
@@jace4817 lol that would be funny
@@DorkintheRoad Yeah! you know the camera magic where you somehow have 2 of you arguing and chasing yourself off.
💥💥💥
I think I figured out who the nerd is, but waiting to the end to see if my deductive skillz are as good as my bike jumping skillz
I’m 💭 thinking the same !
Hummm does he drive motorcycles
Lol
I see Chewie, I give a thumbs up. Damn man, living the dream, that’s a beautiful piece of property.
Like the Star Wars shirt while you're camping on Endor
With all those trees around, a hammock wouldn't have been a bad choice..🤔
re: tent site selection, once you lay out your ground sheet, lay down on it before putting up the tent, to see if you'll be comfy
Great idea. Learn something new everyday
I was waiting for you to say "and we brought fireworks!"
😂 "Stealth 450 camping"
Ha ha ha ha! “I’ve made due with three and a half inches most of my life” (19:20)
was waiting for someone to catch that one ;)
Dang dude, what’s your secret? Hopefully I can get there someday!😢
I figured out your gag when you said the nerds wife digs you! 😅 Then Chewie showing up eliminated all doubt! The place is so nice that it looks like a movie set.
Gonna be checking out some of that gear. Also the gag worked pretty good, was cheesy fun.
Great seeing Duckfan! I think it might be time to revisit the bushcraft campsite. Excellent video!
So jealous of that land! What a great spot to do shakedown runs
Ducfan the man! Pretty sure he and I have the same watch. Awesome smartwatch that you don't need to charge every 36 hours lol. Excellent bro!
Alternative Minimalist Setup:
1. Paria Outdoors Bryce 1P Tent (3lbs 13oz) $160 (comes with footprint, rainfly, stakes, poles, and seam sealed)
2. Paria Outdoors Thermodown 15 Down Quilt $180
3. Tiny Pump 2x $40 (higher air pressure and has a light!)
4. REI Helix Sleeping Pad $169 (I've seen it on sale as low as $120, wait for sale)
5. Teton Gear Camp Pillow $25
6. Stanley Adventure Nesting 2-cup Cookset $25
7. SOTO Amicus Stove $46 or BSR3000t $17
8. Rhinowalk 30L Tailbag $90 or 15L/$80
Total $735 or $671 with lower cost items (less if the Helix is bought on sale). 8% sales tax on larger total = $58.80. GRAND TOTAL = $793.80. And all of it is good quality gear. Ben is great, MotoCampNerd is great, but so is a savings of $444.75.
Super fun vid...Thanks!
I absolutely love the hints .grate job
Classic Dork adventure! This is why I started watching your channel.
Glad to see some camping. looks like a great spot.
The most useful video I watched from moto camp nerd is when he showcased all the sleeping bags that he has to offer , and sets them out side by side to show the different sizes in comparison to one another, and explains the differences. And he also showed how each one fit inside of his panniers. That was a very useful video. I wish you guys would do an updated version of that for the tents, sleeping pads, and if there are any new sleeping bags. It really helps people determine how much space they will be taking up on their bike, and makes the choices a bit easier.
"What kind of weird dude has a pug for a pet and takes him camping" 😁✋ ...Chewy blew your cover because he smelled the Brat's, 😂
Got the joke. No explanation needed. Love your "tubes" Dork 👍👍
Simply the best camp packing video ever. Watched it 3 times. Keep them coming.
Woulda been funny to see a note reading, "Steve Wallis was here"
You had me going so your trick worked. I have to have a free standing tent, but I am impressed by your new setup.
Red eye was my grandma’s favorite way to drink beer, thanks for the memories.😊
Great video. I’m with Duck Fan, those red beers are the best ever. You have no self control drinking them.
Great looking property too. Thank you for sharing.
Have very much been missing the camping vids!
On a side note, I like the little hobo heaven you built. I was expecting more vids on it as well.
Hello from Australia! A lot of the camping gear I own, I bought after seeing you use it - I consider you my personal camping gear vetter. But I've been using a flextail inflator for about 18 months now that I got off of one of their early kickstarters; it's great, it blows up my sleeping pad, and has an integrated light that's perfect for inside the tent. I see they've started coming out with Thermacell style insect repellers, too. Great little company.
Hey Ben, that was pretty good, wonderful property really cool and having the rental dog named chewy was awesome. The gear was awesome. It looked like duck fan had a lot of fun. Thanks. Looking forward to the next video.
Dork, thanks for making these videos and allowing us to live vicariously through you. I feel like I’m camping right next to you when I watch these vids.
Very fun vid. I didn't know it was your property until 40% through the vid. I Love Bushcraft stuff! I'll have to find that video.
KLX300... excellent! Ultralight moto camping... excellent! I like to use my hammock as a camp chair to save that weight and packed bulk. Instead of a table, I carry a poly mailer with the bottom cut open. I unfold it and place it gray side down on the ground and use the white top side to organize my cooking stuff. Ultralight FTW! That tent, sleeping pad and quilt look very nice!
18:23 Did I hear a vehicle while you setting up your tent? Yes I did. 😊 an nothing better than 19:53 to wake up to a Dork video an drinking coffee with you here in Idaho. 😊😊
Grace. Must love this
You had me going for a while on the "private property". Consider yourself fortunate to have 13 acres of beauty to utilize as you see fit. I rather enjoyed the bushcraft videos as it lends itself to the self-reliant vibe of adventure riding.
Loved it Ben, Chewy had a great cameo 👍
Ducfan!!!!! That's my favorite Dork character!
I, for one, did enjoy the bush camp videos.
This is the content I subscribed for long ago! Glad you guys had fun. That property owner is a dork in the forest.
Brilliant
We solved the problem, we pay to camp. We removed the original signs, and replaced them with Private Property, all adventure motorcycles and camping must be lodged with Property Owner, medical emergency details & payment $45 registration.
Chewie is adorable! I have a 2 year old pug named Elvis Pugsly, cant wait to get him motorcycle trained ❤
well done! You totally had me... for like 2 minutes... but it was still worth it :)
Haha. You had me until Chewy showed up 😮
One (tiny) trick I learned for multiday camp:
roll tent up in tyvek, essentially a tent burrito. Seems to take up less space, and slightly quicker!
Well you are a really lucky bunny to have that space around your home and I wish I could have similar jealous but hey ho great vid alas I camp kitchen sink and all but I base camp and at my age comfort is king all the best 👍👍👍
This was really fun. You gave us a few clues, but I wasn't sure until Chewy, the "wild dog of the North" showed up and took over the campsite....
Ok, so ya gots me. Haha. Soo funny, woo....
I like the spot, also I get the bush craft camp. I live in the treeless flatland in the Texas Panhandle
Nice property, and awesome camp spot! The humor was not lost either With those trees you could set a hammock or hanging tent easily. I myself am looking for a compact elevated tent to try out, something like a Tentsile, or an Amok Draumr system. But it comes down to pack size to fit on my DRZ that I am most concerned about. Great video nonetheless.
Yeah I've been meaning to try out the Haven tent forever but it just hasn't come together.
Nice you know the owner! And bonus the owners wife is into you! Great video!
oh man she's SO into me
@@DorkintheRoad #luckyman #whowouldntbe?
You had me going up until your doggo showed up, freaking hilarious. Good video, Very surprised to see how it small it packed in.
Not gonna lie, I was almost put off at the beginning of the video, but figured something was up because you just don't seem like "that guy." It was the "no a$$ing" sign that gave it away for me. Nicely done sir. 😂 and a beautiful spot. I bet the Dork that owns it is a pretty cool guy. 😎
I enjoyed the "secret stealth camping " on your own property but presenting it as some old grumpy man's private spot. Fun!
On your Flex tail the battery has a type-c plug so you can charge it
Yes @motocampnerd pointed that out. I edited it but it takes a bit to process the new version.
Run the Tyvek ground sheet through 2-3 cycles of your washing machine, cold water, no soap/detergent. It will become soft and almost silent.
And, sorry I didn’t mention it, you won’t lose any of the durability of the sheet. It will pack smaller, too.
I liked it, pressed like too. It was pretty obvious though. As to what I learned to know about you watching your channel for years, I do not think you would break a pretty obvious no tresspass sign. But when you started to unpack and throw things around you it was pretty obvious this was not a real stealth camping as one would be more organized to be able to haul out of there quickly.
Good show. And I would like to see more from this place.
Also like bushcraft.
Cheers from a Swede in Mexico
If I hadn’t watched your videos I would had never figured it out 😂
Sweet location dude, the fern covered forest floor is awesome! They call those tomato juice/beer combos Redraws in Texas where I went to college, girls like them because it dilutes the taste of the beer, and they don't get as tipsy and end up going home with some Dork. Thanks!
1. I am incredibly slow on the uptake. It took me until about minute 10 to clock. Tbh I'm impressed with myself I didn't leave a sanctimonious comment before I got it. 😂
2. I like how yer mate camps. I drink those occasionally too, only slightly less posh (mine are just ice, tommy juice, cheap cooking lager and I use Henderson's relish as it has more boot than worcestershire sauce.)
That Table tipping @17:56 gave me anxiety, I once tipped boiling water over onto my arms while using a pocket rocket.
I've done that before myself (on camera, no less) which is why I moved it ;)
welcome on dryer trick
looking at a 4 man tent NTK COLORADO GT
Let’s see, I know that I’m trespassing, so I’ll sneak in on a motorcycle. That’s quieter than if I walked in, or parachuted in. Yeah!
Half Vast Flying
I want to see more of the property...first hand. How about a campus for your internet friends?
I’m excited to hear that DorkintheRoad will be on a TallManMoto livestream.
To quote Bill Murray, "I wanna party with you, cowboy!" Nicely done!
Lol, I caught on by "That nerd who owns this" :)
Literally ate a package of the Johnsonville jalapeno cheese brats by myself every week for the last year and a half while living in Texas. Most of the time, cut up and cooked in Bushes Baked Beans. I did not die from that diet.
they're so good
Making a Bloody Mary, except substituting vodka for beer. It can’t be better than a traditional Bloody Mary, but, whatever floats your boat.
Ben you need Rogue to sponsor you so you can have tastier camp beers!...great vid, Chewy for the win
forget the rest of the video. you had my attention at "CRF 300L suspension"!! I want to hear about that!! My CRF 300L is also in the shop for a full RallyRaid front and rear Level 1..
20:39 I camp in a graveyard once it was the dead centre of were I was staying .
Love it, you can’t beat a bit of random shit, I do it all the time. Another great video, keep them coming. However you guys need to pronounce Worcestershire sauce correctly, say it like this Wooster Shire 😂😂😂Ride safe guys 👍🏻
My fire pit has been waiting for weeks for a chance to burn but cant do anything till we get some more rain i have way too much wood and not enough opportunity to burn it all
After the cooler I was waiting for the to save space I'm sleeping in a bivy bag with no sleeping bag lol..
He tried that once (by mistake). Now he's very paranoid about being warm enough at night ;)
@@DorkintheRoad My first solo trip I camped at the foot of the largest mountain in the state temps dropped from high 70's to low 30's Lesson learned.. I always take extra warmth.. You really should try an Xmid-2 instead of that tent It packs the same but is I think a 9ft footprint.. If you dont have the bug netting in it its huge...
One more reason to keep the original exhausts on the XR150L and the RE Himilayan!
This was a great video, internet riding buddy.
When will we see your old camping buddy tim again?
Dude went and got a real job so I'm not sure.
You should do a meet and great . I think you live in my town. It would be cool to meet you in person.
Looks fun. Klr230 seems as capable as 300 or any other medium size advs. Your set up is very helpful. - Don’t you carry tools / extra tubes? What if you get a flat during trip?
This probably isn't much of a trip
@13:45 Can see that Duckfan knows cigars by properly preparing it for lightning.
Too bad he knows how to ruin a Bloody Mary.
A true Oregonian!
Can you check how it is to camp with hammock?
seeing as you've had a CB500X for so long, i hope you get your hands on an NX500 in the near future. I'd love to hear your opinion on the bike.
Awesome spot to camp and just get away from the house for a night. I’m a little Jealous.
A vote for DaBushyDork channel...👍👍
Hey Ben,
Can you post the coordinates to that awesome stealth camping site?
I imagine there are THOUSANDS of us watching this video who’d love to stealth camp there. We promise not to tell the owner.🤣
oh for sure.
Nothing keeps a stealth spot nice and clean like sharing it with thousands of people on the Internet ;)
I wonder how many people would actually show up
@@DorkintheRoad if you had people pay for the coordinates to some state land somewhere for a weekend camp out. I would expect you would do rather well. Plus another show.
@StephenKeller-ey9gm at least one.... me
I love the pedantic efforts to properly uber pedantic classify the gear set as “minimalist ” or whatever the other sub classifications classifying classes were…
Is duck fans tent a ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 1?
Not gunna lie, took me way too long to figure out what was really going on here 😂
I suspected might be yours until Chewy came...puppies
Are there any cool events you are planning or going to and do a Dork meet up! One Dork to another😂
No mosquitoes?
I wasn't gonna like and comment but CHEWIE!!
I was totally put off by the title. I’m like “The Dork” is not that guy.
Apparently, you saw me coming. lol
My wife also loves Michaladas (and I appreciate one as a sober up drink - better than water). I hate to say it, but we call the ones made with Coors Light instead of a Mexican beer B*#cheladas. I’m not recommending it. Just saying that’s what we do.
Also, screw the doofus who owns that property. So glad y’all stuck it to him ;)
Yeah that guy sucks!
Your videos recently almost sound like you're doing a voice-over because there is no background noise. Are you running the audio through a filter or have a new mic? I like it
I had to enhance the speech in premiere because my mic gain was too low. I think I have that cleared up now. We'll see.
