I should apologize for the overabundance of musical montages in this video. I had some issues with my mic so none of the riding footage had any sound. I didn't want to lose the video, though, so I went a little montage crazy!
I like them, as for video suggestions I don't want to miss anything so music montages for getting things set up is great for things like setting up your tent where we would like to see it but not in real time 🙂 thanks for the vids
I enjoyed this video very much, it took me back over 50 years when we would cut class early on Friday and ride up to Trout Creek so we could get a primo site for the weekend, back them most of the sites had a log shelter and it was one of our favorite spots. We would fish, party and straggle home Sunday afternoon back to Albany . Back then it was what I could pack on a Honda scrambler, used a WW2 jungle hammock and wool blanket. At 71, I still ride and camp but now ride a CanAm spyder and pull a trailer, Thanks for the memories.
MY favorite part of camping is definitely sitting somewhere nice and just take it in, try to sorta meditate and also collecting wood for the fire from the forest is always nice its like a little adventure everytime! keep up the good work Dork! And for the length and content, its allright you seem to only show nice content soo whatever the length, people who watches your video i bet are not in a hurry. you make really good videos and i dont feel like they need to change.
Thank you for all the work, care, and attention that you put into this video. I really enjoyed it. And although you're "traveling a different path" now (literally? more off road/no more Versys), i know you really loved your beautiful orange machine (great videos)- I'm about to get my first ever Versys (2022! moving up from a 21 Ninja 650/ too small) , and your videos we're part of many videos that helped me decide that it's to be my next bike in my "riding evolution";)! So, thanks again, and much continued success in YOUR "riding evolution", Good Sir;)! Take care, be safe!
This is the first video of yours I have seen, and let me say on to you sir, I have joined the "Dork Side" . Nothing better than 2 wheels, a river, a fire, a tin cup filled with adult libation and of course a Mr. Puff Puff. Keep on doing what you do
Cooking steak fast and hot with a good sear is the best. I like the full camping setup vids. Fishing, gathering, cooking...all good stuff. Good video dude
The "Mr. Puff-Puff" portion of the video reminded me of the "puff-puff" scene in the movie "Stand By Me", where they're having their "puff-puff's" after their dinner at the camp site. "That's when a puff-puff tastes the best... after supper" 😆
I was cooking in one of those camp site firer pits until a buddy warned me that you never know what plastics and bad for you stuff is burned in them. Great video sir, love to watch when I have some free time!
Most plastics are simple hydrocarbons, so there are no toxic chemicals that are released when burned. Foams like neoprene, shoe soles, packing materials, etc are what you want to watch for.
You’ll have to get out on the CRF for a camptrip👍 Beauty spot right by the river....awesome! I see you were camping next to the Justice League 😝 Joe’s the man! I too haven’t used paper for campfires in ages. Montreal steak......YUP! Steak over a fire....YUP! “Mr. Puff Puff...you complete me” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 More camp videos, for sure!
damn only just discovered you. About to take owenership of my 2018 versys 650. cant wait to take it camping. Was nice to hang out on your trip. Hey for Aussie land :D (Straya)
For fire starters, I work Vaseline into cotton balls. They work great with a ferrisidium rod, match, lighter... whatever. They pack super flat, keep for years, don't draw moisture, and are super cheap.
Loved this video! As for the feedback you wanted, here’s some bullet-points: - definitely like the length! 20/30 min to an hour or more is A ok with me. - would love to see more nuts and bolts stuff as you put it. Also more of the getting ready for bed aspect, as that intrigued me as a non-camper lol. - But I definitely wouldn’t shorten the videos or cut out content. Loved seeing you cook, fire start, drink and indulge in Mr. Puff Puff (have to admit I was expecting the other kind of dried plant matter based on your description 😅) - definitely my only major complaint was the music montages (which I saw your comment about-that’s great that there was a reason for it this time). - Other complaint would just be some of the shots are a little hard to see you! Mainly like when you were walking around the campgrounds, away from your campsite, earlier on in the video. But overall I really enjoyed! Love this channel so much, and it was nice to see you and get personal with you in a vlog type video. 👍🏻
Me too, this video was great. I live north of you in PDX so have interested in campground details. just learned that there are 2 Trout Creek Campgrounds in Oregon :)
Hey, man, I enjoyed the video very much. Cheers to you, "Mr. Puff Puff" and Mr. Beam from Stupidly hot Phoenix. Been considering motocamping myself for awhile now (VFR 800 for me). For what it's worth, I also watch Joe, and I enjoy longer videos of this kind. You seem very real and very cool. Thanks for the effort involved in sharing this with us. Shiny Side UP brother! :)
Funny to watch this after following you on RUclips for a few years now an I’ve got to say you’ve come so far with everything bud. What a change. Hopefully I’ll get to ride with you some day. I’ll ride my XR150L from Florida, better yet come ride with me! Dork across America the ultimate BDR. People can jump in and ride as far as they want like forest gump . Let’s ride!!
This is awesome, it's an odd concept but halfway through your steak I was sold. I just went camping in the upper lower-peninsula in Michigan and I felt over it for the year because of the horrible weather we had to deal with, but this makes me want to pack up and go! Feel free to talk more about games you're playing, future dream motorcycle trips, your job, whatever; however, perhaps that was part of what was lost during the shooting. Maybe do a rustic camp trip or different camp grounds periodically. Maybe a beach trip on the bike, are you a beach goer? I should really mount my camera to my helmet one of these days.
Mix it up with the food. Steak is awesome but why not try some other fun easy to pack meals. Great videos though these long formats are great. Almost like a small story and like I am on for the ride. Also talking to the camra segments are great. Feels relaxed and natural keep it up. Also my favorite part of camping is the cooking. Food is life and it makes everything come together.

I used to eat steaks that big in my 30's. Now in my 50's I cut back on red meat. So I would have cut off about 2 ounces and saved for my dog and eaten the rest. Not much of a reduction but better than nothing. lol
HELLO DORK!! HOW YA DOING? Checking out some of your around home camping trips. Nice site I must say. Steak looked good and the Jim was a good follow up to a night camping by the river. Around Bend Oregon out on 2 wheels

This video is exactly what camping perfection for me would be. Especially the bourbon sun Skrewball and a drew estate cafe con Leche torpedo.

I just need some decent luggage for the CRF and I'm ready to go...provided the destination is within a 100 mile round trip. Stupid tiny fuel tank.
my fav so far ohhhh i cant wait to do this this summer with my new crf250L
You're going to have a great time!
love the camping vids
Thanks! I'm hoping to make quite a few more this spring/summer.
I’m used to the Trout Creek campground on the lower Deschutes, didn’t even know about this campground. Awesome video as always!
I didn't know there was another one in Oregon, though I guess it's not surprising with such a common name. I'll check it out.
I like your experimentation. Good job.

Both Mr. Puff Puff and the steak were quite good.

Your solo camping videos are amazing. Planning my first one this year this spring. Clearly on hold at the moment but anxious to get out there.

camping is good
Try cooking Brats, maybe some Poblano peppers, or any bell pepper toasted?
Peppers would be great with brats. Good idea.
Btw my favorite part is setup and breakdown camp
the steak looked good. What is the fire steel you used? it worked very well, lots of sparks, etc.

great video!!! What are your thoughts on taking the 650 off-road?
What size is tent? Mine is 5x7 and works great I'm 6' 2" but plenty of room.... Good video.....

Try some ted and barney seasoning its the best by online
