This is a legit baker as it brought back memories of us as kids being taught by our dad to use burlap bags to clean our oven slate decades ago.- Memories of baker’s son.
As a North Jersey guy and someone who adores everything about Al and Santillo's pizza, I wanna say thank you to Dave and everyone at Barstool who are leveraging their platform to help Al rebuild a New Jersey institution, and help get the resident artisan master baker/pizzaiolo back up in the saddle doing the thing he was put on this planet to do.
Ive had the honor of trying Santillos pizza one time in my life when i met Al’s brother Vinnie at a physical rehabilitation center. Bless Vinnie i think he’s passed away years ago. We never stayed in touch. He was a great guy and his sister is a wonderful woman.

Al is such a real deal class act! The man you see is real and he’s an absolute legend in the pizza community. Nothing beat the time I ordered the focaccia with fresh mutz and San Marzano… Al told me it looked so good that he would have to make one for himself - the ingredients POP on the focaccia. It’s so special. Thank you Dave for everything you’re doing for the community and Al! That oven bakes some of the greatest breads I ever ate around the world. Man’s an artist and a legend of a dying breed. Looking forward to coming back when it’s all good

But how in the world did he not have insurance on his business?
I would imagine they can't insure an oven like that because it's so old and a risk and also you can't replace it? I mean if that isn't the reason then it has to be ignorance right?
Insurance companies always fuck mom and pop businesses like this. I'm sure they nickle and dimed their way out of paying their fair share of the policy.
I have a 20 year old Porsche 911 to replace it will cost $30-35,000.00 if I wreck it State Farm will give me $12-15,000.00 Having Insurance doesn't mean they will replace what you already have.
