    One trick is to have the piston all the way in and only attach the outer port to the tractor, having the inner port blocked off. If the seal is leaking the rod will go out instead of staying in, because of the different areas.

    So my 3025e jd tractor had a grapple when I close it it goes fast when I open it it goes slow, if I boom up and down then it will open fast once or twice then back to slow? What's the issue

    Answer this one please. I have a wheel lift on my truck, It's a Repo Truck. When I tuck in the cylinders( 2 opposing cylinders) in the IN position, When I let go of the switch, The cylinder spits back out about a inch or so !! Kinda like it has "Air" in the cylinders, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE AIR ! I've bled and cycled the cylinder at least 100 times !!. Please help, I can tow a trailer now because of the Loose Wheel Lift head...... UPDATE It ended up being a little o-ring blowed out.. After figuring it out and repairing it. Wheel Lift works great now..

      I have the same problem you did mine is doing that in the piggyback cylinder the one in side the wheel lift that goes in and out were was your o-ring out in the cylinder or valve?

    Hi, I know this video is is 5 years old, however, it's new to me. That cylinder appears to need piston seals based on the bypass test you performed. It should still bypass in the second test ( cylinder full and full rod extension) you did not have sufficient pressure and time for it to bypass. Think of it like a french press for coffee with only a small pinhole for water transfer.

      It is impossible for the rod to go into the cylinder when it is fully extended and both sides are full of fluid. There is no place for the fluid to move to. There is more fluid on the piston side than on the rod side. The rod takes up room leaving no room for the fluid to move. Even with no piston on the rod, the rod will not retract into the cylinder when there is no place for the fluid to be displaced.
      Take a full glass of water as an example. If you can put your finger in the glass and not spill any water then what you say would be true, but you can't because there is no place for the water to go other than to spill out. With the cylinder, there is no place for the fluid to go, so the rod can not be retracted.

      when you try to collapse the cylinder the internal volume decreases as more rod is introduced. ole archimedes says that water has to go somewhere! displacement is real.
