I don't know any of these people, and I was still close to tears by the end. It is clear that Mr. Guay is truly loved.
(Also, his expression when he was given his gift is absolutely priceless)

So I love the ending shot of Act One, where Eve slowly goes to sleep in her Father's embrace. Such a spiritual moment.

    Yonah has a stunning voice.
Edit: Same with Mama Noah, woah.

Father is an amazing actor with a great voice. Yonah really sang Stranger to the Rain and gave it meaning, which is often not the case in these kind of productions. Set design for this size theater was great and I love using the past shows as part of the scenery, especially Father’s stole. Lots of choral parts left out and not together or in tune. The handheld mics are also a distraction. I’d do a big fundraiser for wearable mics.

Thanks. The theatre does own wireless mics (as you can see in the other shows we posted). We just made a directorial decision to make it a bit more of a concert than a "play" so that's why Father was the only character wearing a mic. I agree on the ensemble harmonies -- it was tough but we did the best we could with only six days of rehearsals!

I was confused at first, but after reading the description... this was a fantastic testament (no pun intended :P) to Guay and his dedication to the theatre company. Wonderful job!

At 2:02:20 Mother Noah KILLED ME. Those runs were literally the best, most intricate I've ever heard. I feel transformed by those 20 seconds.

Bravo Edmund Guay! Bravo Yonah! And Bravo Mama Noah! I was just thinking I wish I could hear more from her, and then she breaks into Ain't It Good! I'm unfamiliar with this play - was that song written in a gospel style, or was that a choice for your production? (You guys do seem to make shows your own, much to your credit, and to my enjoyment.) These Avondale productions are all so sincere, but the choice to do this in 6 days seems to have made this one even more so. The cast, especially the kids, seem free to be themselves when they're not over-rehearsed, and that's something I love about your shows - everyone brings something that Broadway would have crushed out. What a community you guys have!
And what a beautiful swan song for Edmund Guay. I only know him and his work through your channel, and I feel better for it. His performance here was amazing, both loving and commanding. I also loved him in Tommy and Superstar, but I feel I got to know just a bit of who he really is by listening to the acknowledgements at the end of Superstar. (As I write this, I haven't finished this show yet. I just felt moved to comment after Ain't It Good. I'm sure I'll add more later.)
That was the biggest group hug ever! Thank you for allowing me to share the moment!
