    ...3:30....those worms probablly won't effect the fish. But in a bare bottom tank the worms can hurt young fish. I can't believe it worked , without a sponge filter or even an air stone. Awsome job , not panicing. Thank for good video.

    Hi Mark, Love your videos! They have been a real source of education for me and I know my fish appreciate it! So I am still learning and need some specific advice please for my new freshwater tank....
    Question: I just bought a second hand 120 litre tank (26 gallons) from a guy who advertised on gumtree. How do I disinfect/sterilise everything before start cycling and I go out and get fish?!
    Included new stuff to be sterilised is:
    - The tank itself 120 Litres - fill the tank with salt water in high heat for a week?
    - Syphon - hot water only flush?
    - White Sand (dry with some black bits in it) - should I use this?
    - Filter - filter the salt water for the week?
    - Heater
    - Net - hot water with salt?
    - Silk plants - steep in hot water with salt?
    - Ornaments - steep in hot water with salt?
    Have i been listening? lol. Would appreciate some guidance. ;D

    • @MARKSAQUATICS

      The peat lowers the ph of the water for them to breed.

    • @Txyleo
      @Txyleo 5 лет назад

      @@MARKSAQUATICSI apologize for I misunderstood peat with soil. Peat lowers the pH, alright, I have bought it some from an acquarium store and I was going to use it (in a bag), so the right question.... the soil I see on your tank, full of microlife: is it peat or soil from your flowerpots? Sorry again for misunderstanding and thank you for your aquarium video masterworks.

  • @scavdog
    @scavdog 4 года назад

    I started a planted tank just prior to quarantine. With only 3 neons in a 3 gallon system, I was thrilled to see they bred so quickly. Have you tried removing the eggs from the tank and hatching as opposed to intentionally moving around the breeding pair? I want to clip the leaf where the eggs are and put it into an established 2 gallon that just has snails and plants. I'd kill the pump obviously. Any thoughts?

    • @zacharywesley6988
      @zacharywesley6988 4 года назад

      I heard that snails will eat eggs as they are scavengers. I am afraid that I don’t know anything about moving the eggs though.

    • @danielledewitt1
      @danielledewitt1 2 года назад

      They need bigger than 3 gallon. Putting the eggs in with snails is fine if you want the snaild to eat the eggs.
