Fab plans Sam ❤ I sized down one size in the Portia and it was a wee bit snug, so reduced the seam allowance from 1.5cm to 1cm on side seams which worked a treat. I made it in a viscose jersey which had a lot of stretch, so whether you size down or not might depend how much stretch your velvet has? Gorgeous blue colour btw 💙
Happy New Year Sam 🎉. Lovely plans for this month 💖. I also have the high cuff sweater on the go atm 👍🏼. Looking forward to seeing your progress, especially your birthday dress ans the Heydays (that fabric is lush!). Happy sewing 💝xx
Hi Sam, I’m making the Heyday’s for my daughter and if I like them will make some for me. She chose a green needle cord from Minerva which is not easy to press and is fraying a lot. I think I’m going to line the pockets and deepen the front ones perhaps with a button closure so she can put her phone in. So far I’m enjoying the make. Good luck with yours xxx
Sam, you sound better than you did in the last vlog, hopefully you feel much better. I love the top you are wearing. What is the pattern, please? I think the Portia dress in the blue velvet would be stunning and would bring out the color of your eyes. Perfect dress for you. I really like the idea of a plan video and a make video. So love watching you. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hey Sam! Thank you for the shout out! Your friend and you are like kel and I she’s tall with long legs and I’m a shortie 😂 that was the butt of many jokes at school! (Little and large!). Can’t wait to see your makes, def size down on the Portia, I know in the past we have been similar in sizing (ie Stevie) and my Portia’s are all a 10, depending on the stretch they can be quite roomy too (the stripey one def is roomy at the bust!). Make 2! 😂😂😂 Kel and I would love to come up and colab with you at some point too… starting with an explore of the shop! 😂 xxx
I often have left over fabrics but I do use them for other projects and sometimes children’s clothes to donate. I have so many of the same fabrics that you have. The top you are wearing the Sapphire blue velvet, it’s now trouser and a top and the last sparkle fabric from last year still waiting for inspiration. ❤️💙💜
The Heydays have been on my list for ages too! You’ve inspired me! For the tartan, have a look at the Skye wrap by Cool Crafting. Might be a nice co-ord or a gift for someone?
Looking forward to seeing how the high low sweater turns out, I have loads of scraps but I also like colour blocking and really like the free harvest top pattern from Peppermint patterns and use that to scrap bust a fair bit. Good luck with your January plans! Sew Like Dotty made the Portia dress recently also in blue velvet I think! ❤
With the price of fabric, it feels such a waste of money buying extra, and on that note, online stores need to allow more smaller increments when buying fabric, I make lots of jersey tops and often have to buy 1.5 meters when I only need 1.20 for example. ❤❤
With regard the HeyDay dungarees. I made them in a linen and omitted the front patch pockets as Im not keen on a front patch pocket. They were a very easy make to be fair but are not ones i go for when i want to put on a dungaree. Think this is down to fabric choice though so think the denim will be perfect. I also miss a pocket so when i make again, and i will make them again I will use a sturdier fabric and put inseam pockets in. The tie strap was way too long for me but cant remember if I made it longer or stuck to the pattern so be wary of this when you make especially considering your height 🤣
I messed up the heydey dungarees in that purple fabric I copied you on and ordered from @carolynroseschoolofsewing 🙈 I need to go back and fix them at some point. (Kelly) P.S. Sorry for all the comments, but posting as we go along 😂
Lovely plans! Looking forward to seeing the finished clothes!
To carry on ...
It will be interesting to see how you get on.
I too am long in body but short in legs.
Good Plan 😅
Just finishing the TATB olive Pinafore with my SewhayleyJane Dec fabric. Just got to put poppers on it

Thank you Sam, you are a sparkly star 🤩🌟
Yes a matching bag or hat would be fab 🤩
Love your top! Oh yes that fabric is a great match for the poppy pinafore dress 🤩
Look forward to seeing your collaboration 🤩 You guys sound like us with the different body types, height and styles 🤩😊
Can't wait to see the Portia dress! Awww thank you so much for the shout out! 🤩🥰🤩
The poppy is lovely long or short Sam. It’s big enough without buttons I did a fake placket then lined it instead of facings and bias binding
Definitely go with the finished garment measurements 🤩

Great taste ⭐️🤩
I always buy extra fabric in case I make a mistake. I am definitely going to be more mindful and make sure I use my scraps or just buy enough 🤩

Have made 2 Sirroco's and the top comes out very short on me even after lengthening it by 1 1/2" on the second one.

Knee length!
I did a toile in my body measurements and it was too big. Ooo make it in both xxx
The high cuff sweater looks comfy. I would want it longer to cover my backside 😂 looking forward to seeing it made up xxx (Kelly)

Great plans Sam! I’m also looking at the Portia dress, fancy doing a collab?xx
Hi Christine
I’d love to do a collaboration with you but I’m trying to stick to one a month, so I’ll be in touch soon x
Don’t size down in the portia sam it’s pretty true to size
Thanks for that, I just don’t want it to be baggy around my hips.
Yours looked fabulous xx
@@SewLetsSparkleWithSam Tamlyn was a little tight she had to open the seam at the hip. Easy to bring in though if you need to x
